Using our website

We are continually striving to improve our website and it is being updated all the time. We can change or remove content at any time without notice.

Using lesson content from our website

Within its website Oak provides two collections of lesson content, which are made available on different licences.

Lesson content consists of digital materials provided on this website including, but not limited to:

(a) quizzes and assessment questions;

(b) presentation slides;

(c) worksheets; and

(d) audio and video content and any transcripts thereof and any transcripts materials or tools utilised therein (including any subtitling, captioning, sign language or other methods adopted to enable access).

Collection 1: Lesson content which was published before September 2022

Lesson content originally published before 1st September 2022 (as part of Oak’s work pre-dating its establishment as an Arm’s Length Body), which is hosted on the thenational.academy.

This is made available to you on a revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited licence to use for non-commercial educational purposes. Where Oak allows, lessons (consisting of slides, quizzes, and worksheets) may be downloaded by the user for the aforementioned purposes; however, no licence is granted for the download, recording or reproduction of lesson videos for any reason.

Collection 2: Lesson content which has been published after September 2022

Lesson content published after 1st September 2022 is made available to use under an Open Government Licence (OGL) v3.0, except where otherwise stated. This means that you are free to use it in the following ways (referred to as “use” below):

  • copy, publish, distribute and transmit the content;
  • adapt the content;
  • exploit the content commercially and non-commercially for example, by combining it with other information, or by including it in your own product or application.

When using content on an Open Government Licence you must:

In all cases, however, lesson content (including third party content) is available for teachers to use for non-commercial educational purposes in the UK. For all other uses, users must comply with the terms of the licence marked, or contact the rightsholder directly.

All intellectual property right in all content compromising or contained within our website is owned by us and other copyright owners as specified.

We aim to make the code of Oak's applications open source where possible. You are able to find this in Oak National Academy’s GitHub. Where our code is open source, it is licensed under the MIT Licence.
