I've got a friend here, it's Reggie.

Hello Reggie, can you say hello to everyone? Reggie says, hello everyone.

Reggie, oh, you've seen my marbles? You'd like to share them with me.

You'd like to have half of my marbles.

Let's take a look.

Do you think you can help me give Reggie half of my marbles? How many marbles do I need to give him? Let's take a look.

I've got two plates here, but I need to figure out how many I need to give Reggie, for him to have half.

Now remember, how to sharing an amount of objects or quantities into two equal groups.

Then let's keep going.

Still not equal, and it doesn't look equal either.

Here we go.

There we are, I think we're nearly getting there.

Can you count them with me? One, two, three, four, for Reggie, and one, two, three, four, five, six.

Not quite, still haven't found half of 10.

Oh, I think we might be there.

Half of 10 is five.

They've been shared into two equal groups.

I think Reggie is going to be happy with that.

I'm sure he'll have fun playing with those marbles a bit later, right.

Moving on to today's learning.

For today's lesson, We're going to be looking at addition and subtraction.

Here's what you will need.

You will need, 10 objects for counting and a tens frame that looks a bit like this.

And if you want to explore counting with more objects than 10.

If you want to go up to 20, you'll need 20 optics for counting, and two tens frames that look like this.

Now that you've got your objects for counting, and you tens frames, you are ready for today's learning.

Let's take a look and see what we're going to be doing.

So here we are, here's our tens frame.

But for today, it's going to be a vehicle car park.

Have a look and see how many vehicles are going to enter the car park.

You can count them as their parking, have a go.

There we are.

The vehicles have now been parked.

Can you see them? How many vehicles can you see in the car park? It's a bit of a squeeze there.

They've had to park really carefully.

How many vehicles can you see? Shout out the answer when you know.

Excellent, I can hear a lot of you shouting out the answer.

Let's count them together.

One, two, three, four, five.

There are five vehicles parked in the car park.

Have a look and see what's going to happen next.

Another car vehicle, and another vehicle has pulled up on the road.

They want to join the car park.

How many vehicles will there be altogether in the car park when these two vehicles park inside? So we have five vehicles already in the car park, how many vehicles would they be all together if another two joined? Have a think.

Should out some suggestions, when you know.

You might use your fingers to help you, or you can count the objects that you see.

I can hear a lot of you working out the answer.

Let's look at it together.

We can also write out the sum on a piece of paper or a board.

So here we are.

We've got five objects already in the car park.

We want to add another two objects.

How many will there be all together? Let's take a look.

One, two, three, four, five, add two, is equal to five, six, seven.

Five add two equals seven.

Did you get it right? I'm sure that you did, give yourselves two claps.

Amazing work every one.

Now let's take a look at our car park again.

We've got seven vehicles in the car park.

I think there's going to be some more.

Count how many join.

One and two.

How many vehicles can you see now? I can hear some great counting happening.

Let's take a look and see what that looks like and the sum.

So we've got seven vehicles in the car park, and we added two more.

How many are they all together? Now there are nine vehicles in the car park.

Seven add two equals nine.

First, there were seven vehicles and then two more vehicles entered the car park, and now there are nine vehicles parked in the car park.

Great job, everyone.

But listen, I think something's going to happen.

I think that some people have finished doing their shopping and want to leave with their shopping to go home.

Let's see how many people are going to leave.

So if we take a look now, we've got nine vehicles in the car park.

See if we can write that.

See if you can count them as they leave.

There we are, three vehicles left the car park.

So we're going to take three away.
