Hello, I'm Adam, and this is Panda.

And this is Lesson 2 from Unit 2, "Bat Learns to Dance." Let's see the agenda.

So the first thing on the agenda today is our warmup, and today we're going to sing the story of "Bat Learns to Dance." And after that, the main activity is the challenge of putting that story into a story map.

So for our warmup today, Panda and I thought it'd be a really fun idea to share with you "The Bat Learns the Dance" song.

Because it's a brilliant way of getting to know the story even better.

So here we go.

I think we'll just sing it.

And if you want to join in, you're really welcome to.

Here we go.

So to do this, I need to put on some headphones so I can hear the backing music.

Here we go.

Move to the music if you feel like it.

So I'm going to ask you just to watch me do it first.

Okay? So I'm going to start up here.

And because this is a story about Bat, I'm going to start with Bat.

Which is a cold bat.

Pointy ears.

Wings, of course.

And feets that are very good at holding onto things because bats sleep upside down.

And the little bat lives in a cave.

Now, she drops down one night as she's feeling cold.

So she steps out into the gardens.

I'm going to draw an arrow to the next bit of the story.

It's really frosty.

She feels the crunch and the crack of the frost on the grass.

Oh, and she finds a friend.

Do you remember who the first friend was? Was the flapping friend, wasn't it? It was a ladybird.

So I'm going to draw a picture to remind me that it was a ladybird.

Ladybirds are red, of course, aren't they, with spots.

Let's do their legs.

And they have antennae at the front.

There you go.

So the first one was the ladybird.

"Can you help me?" she says, "I want to get warm." And she teaches the dance of how to flap.

Next, she carries on and she finds a new friend.

Furry, pointy ears, big feet.

Let's see if I can draw her.

Quite a smiley one.

Whiskers.

It's the rabbit, of course, isn't it? I was just concentrating then.

Let's give his whiskers more.

Rabbit.

Now the rabbit said, "I can help you," 'cause the rabbit was kind.

♪ Hop, hop, hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity-hop ♪ So she's learned to flap, and she's learned to hop.

And she's carried on.

And the last animal was long.

Can you remember? There was a long, wiggly worm.

And the worm was also kind and taught her how to wiggle.

And with all of these things, Bat goes home.

And when she gets home, there she sees Mum.

And Mum says, "Oh, where were you?" And Bat says, "Mum, I was so cold.

"But I met three kind animals, "and they've taught me how to be warm." I'm going to draw little Bat down here.

And she looks up, and she tells her mum the story.

And she says, "I can go flap, flap, flap, flappity-flap.

"I can go hop, hop, hop, hoppity-hop.

"And wiggle, wiggle, wiggle." And she went to bed, and she fell to sleep.

I'm going to pause the video now.

And it's your turn to get some paper.

Now, it might be that you want to draw pictures much bigger than myself.

So whatever you find to draw on, that'd be great.

As long as it works for you.

I'm going to pause the video and see how you get on.

And when you're finished, start again.

Okay? Enjoy.

Time to get to work.

How did you get on drawing a story map? Did you remember everything in the story? It doesn't matter if you didn't.

If you want to, you can share your work with us.

Ask your carers or teachers, and they can send your work to us.

And we love to see it.

Now, I'd like you to hang onto your maps 'cause we might need them in future sessions together.

And the challenge for after this lesson is to go and show your story map to somebody and explain, tell them, what all the pictures mean.

And if you can, start to tell them what's happening in this story.

Well, we're looking forward to the next session.

'Cause in the next session, we're going to be learning how to step and put actions to that story.

So by the end of Lesson 5, we can all tell this story independently, on our own, which is an amazing feeling.

So keep on drawing story maps and explaining story maps and listening out for new, exciting words.

Maybe you can even think about other ways different animals might move.

So much to do.

Keep on learning.

And Panda and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Bye-bye.
