Hello, I'm Adam and this is Panda and we are in unit two, lesson three.

Let's have a look what's on the agenda today.

So for our warmup today, we're going to be singing a nursery rhyme and then we'll move onto the main event of the day, learning how to step the story A Bat Learns to Dance.

One.

Our warmup today, we're going to learn a nursery rhyme.

And in this nursery rhyme there's a creature.

We have quite a few of them in our house and we really like them.

They have eight legs and they scuttle around.

Scuttle, I like that word.

If I was to make a scuttling sound on my guitar, it might sound something like this.

Would you like to use your fingers and try and make a scuttling sound? Maybe on a tabletop? Scuttling.

Can I sing you the nursery rhyme? And then we can do it with the actions.

♪ Eensy Weensy spider ♪ ♪ Climbing up the spout ♪ ♪ Down came the rain ♪ ♪ And washed the spider out ♪ ♪ Out came the sunshine ♪ ♪ And dried up all the rain ♪ ♪ So Eensy Weensy spider ♪ ♪ Climbed the spout again ♪ ♪ Eensy Weensy spider ♪ ♪ Climbing up the tree ♪ ♪ Down came the snow ♪ ♪ And made poor Eensy freeze ♪ ♪ Brr ♪ ♪ Out came the sunshine ♪ ♪ And melted all the snow ♪ ♪ So Eensy Weensy spider ♪ ♪ Had another go ♪ Let's do it with the actions.

So imagine this is the spout and here's Eensy Weensy.

Here we go.

♪ Eensy Weensy spider ♪ ♪ Climbing up the spout ♪ ♪ Down came the rain ♪ ♪ And washed poor Eensy out ♪ ♪ Out came the sunshine ♪ ♪ And dried up all the rain ♪ ♪ And Eensy Weensy spider ♪ ♪ Climbed the spout again ♪ ♪ Eensy Weensy spider ♪ ♪ Climbing up a tree ♪ ♪ Down came the snow ♪ ♪ And made poor Eensy freeze ♪ ♪ Out came the sunshine ♪ ♪ And dried up all the snow ♪ ♪ So Eensy Weensy spider ♪ ♪ Had another go ♪ Maybe you sang out loud, maybe you sang in your head.

But remember, words that are sung in your head are still heard.

Anyway, time to move on.

So before we step the story, Panda and I thought it'd be a good idea to sing the story again.

We'll sing The Bat Learns to Dance song and that will remind us of the story before we step it together.

So for this, I'm going to invite you, if you're comfortable, to stand up so we can move around and do the actions.

But don't worry if you're like Panda and you feel a little bit shy, because remember that every word quietly spoken in your head or even quietly sung is still heard.

So you can sing along in your head and that's all fine.

I've got to put the headphones on so I can hear the backing track.

But here we go.

Get ready to dance the bat song.

Ready? ♪ Once there was a little cold bat ♪ ♪ A little cold bat ♪ ♪ A little cold bat ♪ ♪ Once there was a little cold bat ♪ ♪ Who wanted to get warm ♪ ♪ Lady bird, lady bird ♪ ♪ Called the bat ♪ ♪ I'm feeling cold ♪ ♪ Can you help with that ♪ ♪ Well, says the lady bird ♪ ♪ When I feel cold ♪ ♪ I flap my wings like this ♪ ♪ Flap, flap, flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ Flap, flap, flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ I flap around like this ♪ ♪ Oh, says bat ♪ ♪ As she started to flap ♪ ♪ I like that ♪ ♪ Once there was a little cold bat ♪ ♪ A little cold bat ♪ ♪ A little cold bat ♪ ♪ Once there was a little cold bat ♪ ♪ Who wanted to get warm ♪ ♪ Rabbit, rabbit ♪ ♪ Called the bat ♪ ♪ I'm feeling cold ♪ ♪ Can you help with that ♪ ♪ Well, says the rabbit, ♪ ♪ When I feel cold ♪ ♪ I hop around like this ♪ ♪ Hop, hop, hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ Hop, hop, hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ I hop around like this ♪ ♪ I like that, said bat ♪ ♪ And she started to hop ♪ ♪ Once there was a little cold bat ♪ ♪ A little cold bat ♪ ♪ A little cold bat ♪ ♪ Once there was a little cold bat ♪ ♪ Who wanted to get warm ♪ ♪ Worm, worm ♪ ♪ Called the bat ♪ ♪ I'm feeling cold ♪ ♪ Can you help with that ♪ ♪ Well, says the worm, ♪ ♪ When I feel cold ♪ ♪ I wiggle around like this ♪ ♪ Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle ♪ ♪ I wiggle around like this ♪ ♪ Well, I like wiggling thought bat ♪ ♪ And she wiggled ♪ ♪ Once there was a little cold bat ♪ ♪ A little cold bat ♪ ♪ A little cold bat ♪ ♪ Once there was a little cold bat ♪ ♪ Who learned how to get warm ♪ ♪ She went flap, flap, flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ Flap, flap, flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ She flapped around like this ♪ ♪ She went hop, hop, hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ Hop, hop, hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ She hopped around like this ♪ ♪ She went wiggle, wiggle, wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle ♪ ♪ She wiggled around like this ♪ Well done.

Brilliant.

So now we're going to step the story of Bat Learns to Dance.

You may have done this before but let's remind ourselves.

When we step a story we imagine that there are square paving stones or round ones and we're trying not to stand on the cracks.

So there's my first step, there's my next step.

Would you like to try? There's my next step.

There's my next step.

One more time.

Brilliant.

Now every time we put our foot on a step we do something and maybe we say something to help us remember our story.

We can do it together.

Here we go.

First step.

Once upon a time there was a bat who lived in a cave.

She was cold.

First, she met a lady bird.

Flap, flap, flap.

Next, she met a rabbit.

Hop, hop, hoppity, hop.

After that, she met a worm who taught her how to wiggle.

When she went home she told her mum the story how to flap, how to hop and how to wiggle to get warm.

Finally, we should do that together.

Storytellers like doing that.

Finally, she got into bed and she was warm and went to sleep.

Good.

Again.

Once upon a time there was bat who lived in a cave and she was cold.

First she met a lady bird who taught her how to flap.

Next, she met a rabbit who taught her how to hop.

After that, she met a worm who taught her how to wiggle.

When she went home to her cave, she told her mum the story how to flap, how to hop and how to wiggle to get warm.

And finally, she went to bed and fell to sleep.

Your big challenge.

I'm going to pause the video for you to try that, okay? Maybe you can do it with somebody or your talk teddy, but have a go at doing that.

And when you've practised it, we'll move on.

Good luck.

So, how was that? Stepping out the story? Did it help you kind of see the story in your imagination? If you didn't like saying the words out loud, it didn't matter because I'm sure you were seeing the pictures.

Okay, let's do it together one more time.

Okay.

Are you ready? Let's do it faster this time.

First step, once upon a time there was a bat who lived inside a cave and she felt cold.

First, she met a lady bird who taught her how to flap.

After that, she met a rabbit who taught her how to hop.

After that, she met a worm who taught her how to wiggle.

When she got back to the cave, she told her mum the story and showed her the dance.

And finally, she went to sleep feeling toasty and warm.

That was fun.

Stepping done.

What have we done today? Well, we learnt the story of Eensy Weensy Spider.

And then we sang the story of Bat Learns to Dance.

And then together and on your own we practised stepping out the story.

That has got us ready for our next lesson together, which will be learning how to tell that story without speaking, only using the actions with even more detail in it.

I hope you enjoyed this session.

My challenge is show somebody your stepping of this story and keep on listening out for new words and new actions.

Think about other animals that you could have in a story like that.

You might move in different ways.

And Panda and I, we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Bye-bye.
