Keeping safe in this lesson.

If you aren't sure about doing any of the activities in this lesson, make sure you have a trusted adult nearby when you start them.

This lesson should ideally take place indoors, but you could work outside if it's warm and dry enough to do so.

Ensure there is a space for you to work safely, including overhead.

Make sure that you work in bare feet and that your floor is not slippery.

Wear comfortable clothing, make sure you put your hair up if needed, and remove any jewellery.

Pause your video now if you need to do any of those things to get ready.

In this lesson, you need to make sure you've got your comfy clothing on, you will also need some writing equipment, so grab a pen and paper, and make sure that you double check your space is safe to work in.

In this lesson, we are going to be doing a warm-up, we're going to be doing a planning task, we're going to be doing a creating task where we use the ideas from our plan, and then we're going to do a filming task where you film your choreography.

And then finally you will take part in your exit quiz.

You'll be told when to pause the video to work on different aspects of your warmup.

As in previous lessons, it's really important that we conduct a thorough warm-up before we start any physical activity.

So let's just recap the components of a great warm-up.

We should have pulse raising activities, mobilisation of joints, and some stretching activities.

What I'd like you to do is to spend a few minutes choosing your favourite song and conducting your own warmup.

Just to remind you of some things that you can include, things like jogging on the spot, running around the room, some star jumps.

Things like mobilising your joints, including our shoulder rolls that we've covered before.

Rolling down through the spine, thinking about swinging exercises, swinging down through the body, and some stretching activities that are going to help open up those joints.

So you could think about rolling down into a plank, taking a stretch here, and then uncurling up again.

Have a lot play around for some of those ideas and those of your own and then come back to when you're ready to start the rest of your lesson.

Our learning focus today is to create a fictional social media dance.

You're going to use gestures of the arms and legs, you're going to include a short travelling phrase and the idea is to promote positivity through our movement and music choices.

Let's look at some key words.

So, gesture is an action that carries no body weight.

Travel is moving in a given direction.

Portrait mode is using your phone camera in the upright position.

So our first task is to plan our routine.

So we're going to look at how we can put together a piece of dance in the style of a social media dance routine.

Here are the rules, the action and movement content needs to be age appropriate.

It must be performed as a solo.

You need to create a piece of work for a full body camera angle from a fixed and single point of view.

You need to select music which is appropriate and your phrase must include a combination of the following.

A minimum of three gestures, arm actions, footwork, short travelling movements, and different directions for your travel.

Finally, you need to promote a positive message.

We're going to use a storyboard to plan our ideas and each box on the table represents a beat in the music.

Draw out the table on your paper and number each box one to eight to represent the beats of music.

Come back when you have that done.

Here is my idea for section one.

So on count one, I'm going to ripple my right arm, on count two, that ripple travels from my right arm and ripples into my left.

On number three, I'm going to fold my arms out in front of my chest.

On count four, I'm going to lift up one of my hands.

On count five, I'm going to run forwards and this is going to overlap into count six.

So the running action is going to take two counts.

On the count seven, I'm going to do a "whoa" hand gesture and on number eight, I'm going to point to the camera.

So pause your video here and complete your task.

It's now your turn to draw or write an action for each beat in your storyboard.

Just remember some actions may take more than one beat to perform.

Come back once you're ready to move on.

So we're now going to do the same task for your second section of your storyboard.

So just a reminder that each box represents a beat in the music.

Pause the video to complete your task.

You're going to create the second section of your storyboard and you can once again draw or write the actions for each beat into each box.

And don't forget, some actions can take longer than one count.

So you don't have to come up with eight separate actions.

Come back once you've got that second section completed.

Our next task is to create an intro and an outro for our video.

So the intro has to be a maximum of four beats and the outro, again, is a maximum of four beats.

So in mine, I'm going to spin into the centre of the frame, stop and wave at the camera.

And then to finish, I'm going to jump up and down three times, do some crazy head rolls, and then I'm going to fall on the floor and hopefully disappear from view.

So pause your video here and on your table, you're going to draw and label your intro and outro and then plan some actions for these.

Remember to engage the audience with something energetic and fun.

Come back once you've finished.

So we now have to use our storyboards to put our movement together.

Here's what my section one looks like.

So my first bit goes one, two.

I fold three and four.

I run forwards five, six, I whoa seven.

I then point eight.

Let's do that one more time.

So I go one, two, three, four, five, six seven, eight.

Five, six, seven, and.

Five, six, seven, and.

So you're going to pause your video and now you're going to use your section one storyboards to put your movements together and run them through several times so that they have a flow.

Try and count the beats as you do the actions so that you know that you're sticking to your timings.

Come back to me once you're finished.

Here is what section two of my phrase looks like.

Five, six, seven, eight.

One and two and three and four, five, six, seven, eight.

Without me counting this time.

Once again, pause your video and use your section two storyboard to put your movements together and run them several times so that they flow.

You need to remember to start where your last action from section one ends.

Try and count the beats as you do your actions, again, making sure that you stick to your timings.

Here is what my intro and outro look like.

Once again, pause your video to complete your task.

So you're going to use your intro and outro storyboard to put your moves together and make sure that you run them several times for flow.

Remember to put your intro section before section one and then the outro comes after section two.

So think about how the link between each of those sections is going to work.

Try and count the beats as you do the actions, as this will help you with your timings.

Come back to me once you're done.

Now we've rehearsed all of our separate sections.

What we now need to do is start to think about putting them together.

So we're going to put it all together.

So I turn in one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.

I go one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.

I go one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.

Pause the video and complete your task.

So you're going to spend about three to five minutes now, running your phrase to your piece of music that you've chosen and ensure that you're really confident with your timing, as it should be quite a fast pace.

The music is your choice, but make sure you stick to our rules.

Come back once you're finished.

Now that you've rehearsed your choreography, it's time to film.

I'm going to show you my film version in a second, but before you do, just remember that you need to have your phone up this way round to film and not this way.

So this mode is portrait mode.

So make sure that you set your camera up and that you film from that angle.

Pause the video to complete your task.

Now is your time to film your routine.

If you go wrong, don't panic.

Just delete that one and then have another go.

Don't forget to use your music and remember to film in portrait mode.

Please remember not to film it on any real social media platforms. This is just a fictional task and is meant to be a piece of fun, so don't feel pressure in any shape or form to put this out, live on any platform.

Come back to me when you've recorded.

So let's review your work.

Well done, everyone.

That was such a great lesson.

I'd like you to watch your choreography back.

And I want you to think about what the most effective part was and why, how did your video demonstrate positivity? And then think about how you could improve this if you were going to redo it and write down one way that you would improve your work.

So just pause the video here so that you can note down the answers to those questions.

Okay, so, when we are reviewing our work, it's really important to think about what works well and what we can do better, 'cause that's what helps us to be better performers.

So looking at my video, I think the effective parts of mine were that my intro was really energetic and I gave away a bit of my personality by waving into the camera.

I think my video demonstrates a positivity because I had a smiley face and I had some movements like jumping up and down, which might show that I was excited and happy.

If I was going to improve mine and redo it, one thing I think I would maybe try is to use a few more different angles 'cause I think, especially with my travelling phrase, it didn't maybe move in as many directions as I could have.

So that would be something that I would go back and slightly tweak.

So maybe my running takes me on a bit more of a zig-zaggy path, perhaps.

So now it's time to do a cool-down.

Use the video to help you make sure that you get that body back to its pre-exercise state.

Thank you very much for taking part in my lesson and I'll hopefully see you again soon.

At the end of a physical class, we need to make sure that we do a cool down.

The reasons for this are to help bring our breathing rate back down to normal, to stop blood from pooling in your muscle and ending up with things like cramp, aching muscles, building up lactic acid.

So ways that we can do that are to go from jogging down into a walk.

You can think about some long and slow stretches.

Things that are going to.

Things like you did in your warmup, but in reverse.

So rather than increasing the intensity, we're trying to decrease the intensity.

So you could use some of those exercises that you did in your warmup but make them slower and make them more deliberate.

So have a go at doing your own cool down and I will see you again very soon, thank you, bye-bye.

Don't forget that you can share your work with us.

So if you'd like to do that, please ask your parent or carer to show your work on Twitter and don't forget to tag us.

Thank you very much, bye-bye!.
