Hi everyone, Miss Brittain and Cedric here for your eighth lesson in this unit.

In this lesson we're going to be continuing writing our discussion and we're going to be writing the advantages, the reasons why Mum wants little Red Riding Hood to go into the forest and why it matters to her.

We'll start off with our nursery rhyme, then we'll recap the discussion and what we've already written, and then we'll write the discussion.

For this lesson you'll need exercise book paper and pencil, super imagination and memory, and if you've got one, your teddy talk partner.

You can pause the video now to go and get whatever items you need and then press play when you get back.

Lets start with our nursery rhyme, I'd like to sing our song that we were singing in the last lesson, the one we learnt earlier on in the unit.

♪ Should she go out ♪ ♪ Into the wood ♪ ♪ I'm not sure ♪ ♪ I'm not sure ♪ ♪ Mum say yes ♪ ♪ And Sis says no ♪ ♪ I'm not sure ♪ ♪ I'm not sure ♪ ♪ Mum says Granny's feeling sick ♪ ♪ Mum says Sis is not busy ♪ ♪ Mum say she's old enough to go alone ♪ ♪ Mums say she has to go ♪ ♪ Sis says it's too dangerous ♪ ♪ Wolves live there ♪ ♪ Plus she's very tired ♪ ♪ And she might get ♪ ♪ Lost ♪ ♪ She says no ♪ ♪ She won't go ♪ And I think we will sing as well our advantages and disadvantages song to remember the structure of our discussion.

Do you think so Cedric? Okay you ready? ♪ You list the advantages ♪ ♪ You list the disadvantages ♪ ♪ Advantages and disadvantages ♪ ♪ You think it all about ♪ ♪ You do the discussion ♪ ♪ And you work it out ♪ ♪ That's what it's all about ♪ ♪ Whoa the discussion ♪ ♪ Whoa the discussion ♪ ♪ Whoa the discussion ♪ ♪ That's what it's all about ♪ Great singing everyone.

So in the last lesson we wrote our introduction I am here to talk to you about my Sis going into the forest on her own, or the woods on her own.

In today's lesson we're going to be writing the advantages, the reasons why Mum thinks she should go into the forest and why it matters to Mum.

So if we recap our advantages we've got that Grandma is sick and on her own, everybody else is busy, and she's old enough now to go alone.

You might want to talk through that bit at the box plan with your teddy talk partner, or an adult to help you remember the key bit.

Now it's time to write our discussion.

The second part of the advantages but before we go any further we'll start off with our star words.

Our star words key vocabulary are first, second and third.

Say it with me this time, first, second, and third.

Because there's three advantages in our discussion.

And our high frequency word, these are words that we can't sound out you've just got to know them.

You can't sound them out, you've just got to know them.

And they're words that come up in our writing all the time that we need to know.

And I've got was, she, we, to, go, on, and and.

My turn, was.

Your turn.

My turn, she.

Your turn.

My turn, we.

Your turn.

My turn, to.

Your turn.

My turn, go.

Your turn.

My turn, on.

Your turn.

My turn, and.

Your turn.

And like in the last lesson here's our show me five poster.

See if you can remember what each one is.

So we've got capital letters they come at the beginning of our sentence and for names.

Finger spaces in between my words so that my writings clear.

Phonics and spellings for words and if I can't say the word, if I can't spell the word I need to say it, robot it, then write it.

Full stop at the end of my sentence, and of course last I can read it to check, to check that it makes sense.

Show me five.

You can go through the five with your teddy talk partner if you feel like you need to practise them.

Okay so like in the last lesson I've decided to start you off and I've started you off with the sentence "Mum said she should go for three reasons." If you'd like to you can copy up that sentence, if you just want to carry on writing from that point that's okay too, if you want to have a go writing your own opening sentence that's great as well.

Just go with whatever you feel most comfortable and confident with doing.

Okay, Mum said she should go for three reasons, we've got a first reason, a second reason and a third reason.

Can you tell you teddy talk partner what the first reason was? That's right, Gran was sick and on her own.

So if I put that into a sentence it'd be, "First Gran was sick and on her own." If you want to have a go at writing that, you can if you're feeling confident.

You might want to write along with me and that's okay too.

Whenever I want to write a sentence I need to say it twice, I need to think it, say it twice and then punctuate it.

So I've said it and I'm going to say it again, "First Gran was sick and on her own." Now I need to punctuate it.

This is for capital letter, this is for full stop.

Capital letter, first, capital letter Gran 'cause that's her name, was sick and on her own, full stop.

And some of my words are in my key vocabulary boxes at the bottom if you need them.

So if you want to write along with me now, that's fine.

Capital letter, first, capital letter, Gran, G R A N, Gran, was, one of my high frequency words, sick, S ICK, sick, CK and I've got the CK sound at the end of diagraph, and, one of my high frequency words, on, one of my high frequency words, her, own, full stop.

And again any words you're not sure about you just use your phonics to sound out as best you can.

Don't worry about the spelling too much.

First Gran was sick and on her own.

What is the second advantage then? The second reason Mum said little Red Riding Hood should go into the forest? Can you tell your teddy talk partner what the second reason was? What would little Blue Running Shoes say? Great, that they were busy and Sis was not.

So if you can have a go at writing that and you're feeling confident, you can pause the video now.

If you're not again you can write along with me.

Okay, so "Second we were busy and Sis was not." So said it once, need to say it again, "Second we were busy and Sis was not." Now I need to punctuate it.

Capital letter, second.

We, second, we were busy and capital letter for Sis 'cause he's calling her Sis, her name, Sis, was not, full stop.

Lets have a look at that being written, if you want to now you can write along with me.

Capital letter second, which is one of my star words.

We, which is one of my high frequency words.

Were, busy and use your phonics to sound out busy as best you can if you're not copying up what I've written.

And, one of my high frequency words.

Sis, S I S, Sis and I need to remember capital letter for Sis.

Was, one of my high frequency words.

And not, N O T, not, full stop.

Second, we were busy and Sis was not.

What was the third advantage then? The third reason little Red Riding Hood should go into the forest, into the woods alone? Can you tell your teddy talk partner? Oh great work, she was old enough.

And you might just write, "Third she was old enough." You might say "Third she was old enough to go alone." I think that's what I'm going to write so can you can write along with me if you're not feeling confident.

Capital letter, third.

She, was, old, enough, to, go, alone, full stop.

Have a look at that being written.

And we're writing a lot today children so don't worry if you need to give yourself a little break or you need to stop, or you only get to write a little bit of it, you don't have to write it all.

Third she, from my high frequency word box, was, from my high frequency word box, old enough, use your phonics to sound out this one, E N OUGH, enough, to, from my high frequency word box, go, my high frequency word box, alone, A L ONE, alone, again use your phonics to sound out that word, full stop.

Third she was old enough to go alone.

Mum said she should go for three reasons.

First, Gran was sick and on her own.

Second, we were busy and Sis was not.

Third, she was old enough to go alone.

Oh great work if you managed to get any writing done today, I know we wrote a lot there, so don't worry if you only wrote a little bit like I said before.

Give yourself a round of applause for being resilient with your writing today.

And great work if you managed to get some done.

Oh great work today everybody you have made me especially proud.

Lets finish on some positive affirmation, take a deep breath in, and out, and say "I am brilliant." Take another deep breath in and out and say "I am a great story teller." Take a deep breath in and out and say "I am a great discussion teller." And one more, take a deep breath in and a deep breath out and say "I can do anything." Great work everyone and see you in the next lesson.
