Hello everyone, it's Miss Doherty.

Today, we're going to explore persuasion through song.

In this lesson, you will need an exercise book or paper, a pencil, and of course your brain.

You can pause the video now while you go and get those items. Today, we're going to start by singing a nursery rhyme.

Then, we'll tell the text, and finally, we'll complete a reading challenge.

I hope you're ready.

We are going to sing the first verse of Jack and Jill.

Do you know it? Let's sing it together.

♪ Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water ♪ ♪ Jack fell down and broke his crown ♪ ♪ And Jill came tumbling after ♪ Let's try that again.

♪ Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water ♪ ♪ Jack fell down and broke his crown ♪ ♪ And Jill came tumbling after ♪ We're going to tell the text in a different way today, we're going to sing it.

♪ Who will buy my gingerbread ♪ ♪ Who will buy my gingerbread ♪ ♪ Who will buy my gingerbread, oh ♪ ♪ Who will buy my gingerbread ♪ ♪ My gingerbread is so, so nice ♪ ♪ I think that you will like it ♪ ♪ My gingerbread is oh so fine ♪ ♪ I think that you will like it ♪ ♪ My gingerbread, gingerbread ♪ ♪ Who will buy my gingerbread ♪ ♪ Gingerbread, gingerbread ♪ ♪ Who will buy my gingerbread? ♪ ♪ It's made with flour and butter ♪ ♪ It's made with ginger and sugar ♪ ♪ It's made with an egg love, lots and care ♪ ♪ Oh, who will buy my gingerbread ♪ ♪ My gingerbread, gingerbread ♪ ♪ Who will buy my gingerbread ♪ ♪ My gingerbread, gingerbread ♪ ♪ Who will buy my gingerbread ♪ ♪ My gingerbread, my gingerbread ♪ ♪ Oh, who will buy my ginger bread ♪ ♪ My gingerbread is yummy ♪ ♪ My gingerbread is scrummy ♪ ♪ My gingerbread will feel so good ♪ ♪ If you get it in your tummy ♪ ♪ Oh my gingerbread, my ginger bread ♪ ♪ Who will buy my ginger bread ♪ ♪ My gingerbread, gingerbread ♪ ♪ Oh, who will buy my gingerbread ♪ ♪ My gingerbread, my gingerbread ♪ ♪ Who will buy my gingerbread ♪ ♪ My gingerbread, my gingerbread ♪ ♪ Won't you buy my gingerbread? ♪ We're going to do some reading now.

When we read, we look at the letters, make the sounds, and blend the sounds together.

Can you say that with me? We, look at the letters, make the sounds, and blend the sounds together.

On the screen, I have written a lyric from the song.

If you think you can have a go at reading that now, you can pause the video.

If you'd like some help, just stay with me and we'll read it together.

Okay, let's read it together.

We're going to look at the letters first, make the sounds and then blend the sounds together.

Ah N D and and Ah, N an and, an, Eh, G egg and an egg.

Fantastic.

Now, you're going to pause the video and draw a picture to match that caption.

How did you get on? I've drawn my picture on the screen.

I've drawn a plus sign for and, and then I've drawn my egg.

And I've drawn my egg with a crack in the middle, ready to go into the gingerbread mixture.

I would love to see some examples of your work.
