Hello everyone, it's Miss Doherty.

Today, we're going to listen to, and join in with a persuasive piece.

And we're going to base that persuasive piece on the story of "The Gingerbread Man".

Now, if you were in my last unit of work, you will know the story very well.

If you weren't, don't worry.

You can pause the video now, and go and find out more about the story of "The Gingerbread Man".

Shall we play a game, Oulu? Let's.

What pictures can you see? I can see a bucket.

Can you point to the bucket? How about you, Oulu, can you point to the bucket? Well done! What sound can we hear at the beginning of bucket? 'Buh', 'buh', bucket.

That's right, it's a 'buh'.

Let's find the 'buh' on the screen.

Hold your finger up in the air and we're going to write the letter 'buh'.

All the way up, down, round and flick.

Well done! What else can we see? I can see a cup.

Can you point to the cup? Can you point to the cup? There's the cup.

A cup starts with the letter 'c'.

The sound is 'kuh', 'kuh', 'kuh', cup.

Can you find a 'kuh' on the screen for me? Can you find a 'kuh' on the screen for me? Hmm, Oulu's a little bit confused.

He can't find a 'kuh'.

Shall we show him what a 'kuh' looks like? Let's get our fingers ready.

Start on the line, come up, round.

There we go.

Now, can we find a 'kuh'? There we go, Oulu has found a 'kuh'.

I can also see a bottle.

What? yes, Oulu? That is the same initial sound as bucket! 'Buh', 'buh', bottle.

'Buh', 'Buh', bucket.

A 'buh' for bottle.

Fantastic! What else can we see? I can see a house.

Can you find the house for me? We've found the house.

What sound is at the beginning of house? It's a 'huh', 'huh', 'huh', house.

To help you make the sound, you can hold your hand in front of your mouth.

'Huh', 'huh', house.

You should be able to feel your breath on your hand when you make that sound.

Let's write the letter 'h', that makes the 'huh' sound, in the air.

Get your fingers ready.

Start on the line.

Come up, down, round and flick.

'Huh', 'huh,' 'huh'.

Well done! There are two more pictures left.

Can you pause the video, say the word, think of the first sound and find that letter on the screen? Did you find a 'kuh' for clothes and a 'buh' for book? Well done! We're going to start off by singing a nursery rhyme.

Then, we'll listen to and join in with the text, and we'll finish by reflecting on that text.

That means we will think back about the text.

What's the weather like where you are today? It's raining here, and I know a song all about raining.

♪ It's raining, it's pouring ♪ ♪ The old man is snoring ♪ ♪ He went to bed and bumped his head ♪ ♪ And couldn't get up in the morning ♪ Shall we sing that together? ♪ It's raining, it's pouring ♪ ♪ The old man is snoring ♪ ♪ He went to bed and bumped his head ♪ ♪ And couldn't get up in the morning ♪ I'm going to be telling you a nonfiction text.

A nonfiction text is a piece of writing that gives us information and facts.

And the information and facts that I'm going to be giving today are going to be trying to persuade you to do something.

So if I'm trying to persuade you, I want you to do something and I'm going to try lots of different ways to make you do what I want.

So, this text is called: Who Will Buy My Gingerbread? Many children, like yourself, love eating good food.

Are you hungry now? Have you ever been hungry? Of course you have! Well, I have a product for you.

Introducing my gingerbread.

I want you to buy my gingerbread.

My gingerbread is so nice.

Really, it's more than nice.

It's delicious! It's so delicious, I think you will definitely like it.

It's made with flour and butter.

It's made with ginger and sugar.

And an egg.

It's made with love and lots of care.

And for just £500, you can eat it, now! With such amazing ingredients, you must see that you really should buy my gingerbread.

It's the best gingerbread you will ever taste in your life.

Once you've tried it, I know you'll be back for more.

It's truly unmissable! Gingerbread can be made into any shape.

You may have heard of the Gingerbread Man.

Well, I can sell you your very own gingerbread friend if you're lonely.

A gingerbread alien if you prefer non-human contact, or a gingerbread zebra if you're an animal lover.

I could even sell you a gingerbread house if you're looking for a place of your own.

Just don't put it in the woods.

My gingerbread is yummy, and it will taste so good when you get it in your tummy.

Won't you buy my gingerbread? Now, I would like you to tell your teddy talk partner why they should buy my gingerbread.

You can pretend it's your gingerbread if you'd like.

Think of the reasons and try to persuade your Teddy talk partner to buy your gingerbread.

The reasons can be as silly and as funny as you like.

Pause the video now while you tell your teddy talk partner.

What reasons have you come up with? I'm going to share some of the reasons that we have come up with.

You should buy my gingerbread because it's the nicest gingerbread in the world.

You should buy my gingerbread because it's only £500.

Now, that's a bit of a silly one, because £500 is a lot of money for gingerbread.

Now, with your teddy talk partner, I want you to think about what ingredients are in gingerbread.

You can tell your teddy talk partner the ingredients.

Pause the video now, while you answer the question.

What ingredients were there? That's right! There was flour and butter, and ginger and sugar.

And Oulu, you forgot the egg! Thank you for joining my lesson today.

I hope I see you again soon.

Bye bye.

Wave bye, Oulu!.
