- Hi everybody, my name is Mr. Palekar and welcome back to Music.

This is our final lesson in this unit.

Let's take a look at what we're going to look at.

In today's lesson, we are going to recap body percussion piece, which has five beats in a bar, we are going to do a time signature quiz, and we are going to learn a new piece of music called Banaha.

For this lesson, you will need some headphones, if you have some headphones.

If you don't, don't worry, just make sure you are somewhere quiet, where you can hear this video clearly and where you can concentrate and won't be disturbed.

You will need a pencil and some paper, if you would like to take any notes and you will need your hands, your bodies and your voices.

Let's get started with body percussion, five beats in a bar.

Okay, now, just like last lesson, there is a chant and it sounds like this.

♪ I want to make some music ♪ ♪ I want to make some music ♪ ♪ I want to make some music ♪ ♪ I want to make some music happen ♪ ♪ I want to make some music ♪ ♪ I want to make some music ♪ ♪ I want to make some music ♪ ♪ I want to make some music happen ♪ My turn and then your turn.

♪ I want to make some music ♪ ♪ I want to make some music ♪ ♪ I want to make some music ♪ ♪ I want to make some music happen ♪ Good, let's say it together all the way through.

After five.

One, are you ready? One, two, three, four, five.

♪ I want to make some music ♪ ♪ I want to make some music ♪ ♪ I want to make some music ♪ ♪ I want to make some music happen ♪ Good, let's say two times in a row, after five.

One, two, three, four, five.

♪ I want to make some music ♪ ♪ I want to make some music ♪ ♪ I want to make some music ♪ ♪ I want to make some music happen ♪ ♪ I want to make some music ♪ ♪ I want to make some music ♪ ♪ I want to make some music ♪ ♪ I want to make some music happen ♪ Good.

Now there is that special way of us remembering how to pat and click and clap the pulse.

Just as a reminder, I've put how we break down those beats.

We have five beats but we're going to group them with one, two, three beats together and then another two beats at the end.

So one, two, three, one, two, one, two, three, one, two.

We start with our head, which is the H, head.

Then the shoulders, then knees, but I can use my table and you can use your knees, then a clap and then a click.

So we've got, one, two, three, and then for four and five, four, five.

One, two, three, four, five.

Let's try it together.

One, two, three, off we go.

One, two, three, four, five.

Ready, and again, off we go.

One, two, three, four, five.

Let's do it four times in a row.

Here we go.

Ready, and off we go.

One, two, three, four, five, one, two, three, four, five, one, two, three, four, five, one, two, three, four, five.

Brilliant, like a pro.

Okay, now let's see if we can add our chant in as well.

So it'll look and sound like this.

♪ I want to make some music ♪ ♪ I want to make some music ♪ ♪ I want to make some music ♪ ♪ I want to make some music happen ♪ Let's try it together.

But last time we added in some rhythm.

So we added on some body percussion for the rhythm of the words.

Let's see if we can remember what they are.

So we've got, I want to make some music and here's our body percussion.

So we've got clap, those stars, those suns with C's in it as our chest.

So clap, chest, chest, and then we've got click, click that's those stars and then knees, knees, the K K, knees, knees, okay? So it sounds like this.

♪ I want to make some music ♪ Let's break that down, my turn first.

♪ I want to make some music happen ♪ Okay, let's see the body percussion symbols for that.

So we've got clap, chest, chest, click, click which is the same, so ♪ I want to make some ♪ Only those last two words, which goes, ♪ Music happen ♪ Try that with me, so it's knee, knee, chest, chest ♪ Music happen ♪ ♪ Off we go ♪ ♪ Music happen ♪ ♪ One more time ♪ ♪ Music happen ♪ ♪ Last time ♪ Good.

Time signature quiz.

In our lesson today, we are going to be doing a quiz and there are going to be questions on the screen.

There are five questions.

And what you need to do is listen very carefully to the piece of music that we'll play.

And then you need to find the pulse and then think, "Okay, where's the downbeat.

"I'm going to clap or pat that a little bit harder "and then count how many beats in between." For example, if I've found my pulse and I find my downbeat.

My downbeat is always going to be number one.

So one, one, and then I've got to count the beats in between.

So one, two, three, four one, two, three, four.

That's how we know it's going to be four beats in a bar.

So I would think, okay, I'd write down, or I'd say out loud, "Four beats in a bar." But let's give it a go with a piece of music.

Are we ready? ♪ Yeah, you've got that yummy yum ♪ ♪ That yummy yum ♪ ♪ That yummy yummy ♪ ♪ Yeah, you've got that yummy yum ♪ ♪ That yummy yum ♪ Don't forget to pat along with the pulse.
