I am so pleased to be here and to be working with all of you children.

Miss Duckerty has told me how amazing you all are and how impressed she has been with your learning so far in this unit.

So I can't wait to get to know you all a little bit more, and I can't wait for you to get to know me.

I usually have a talk partner, but I have no idea where he is this morning.

I can't seem to see him anywhere.

You've not seen him, have you children? His name is Cedric.

He likes to play tricks on me all the time.

Have you seen him anywhere? Cedric, Cedric! Have you seen him children? Well, I'm going to have to get started without him.

I'll try shouting one more time.

Cedric, Cedric! There you are.

Oh, he always plays tricks on me.

Cedric, these are the children that we're going to be working with for the rest of this unit.

In today's lesson, we're going to role play, which means imagine we are other people, a recycled recount.

First, we're start off with our nursery rhyme, and then we're going to role play some new ideas for our recycled recount.

For this lesson, you will need your listening ears, your super imagination, and your teddy talk partner, or if you use something else, that's fine too.

Now it's time for our nursery rhyme, and we are going to be singing Row, Row, Row your Boat.

Oh Cedric, you love this nursery rhyme, don't you? Are you ready children? I'll sing it first if you've never heard it before, and then you can join in the second time.

Let's get our rows ready, our oars ready.

♪ Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream ♪ ♪ Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily life is but a dream ♪ Hmm, Cedric says he's got another verse.

A different verse to this song, but we'll do my verse again first, okay Cedric? ♪ Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream ♪ ♪ Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily life is but a dream ♪ Oh, I love that song.

Cedric says, "Please, can we do my verse?" Okay, what is it Cedric? Oh my goodness.

See if you like this one, children.

♪ Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream ♪ ♪ If you see a crocodile don't forget to scream ♪ I do like that one Cedric.

Shall we do that one again children, and you can join in.

♪ Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream ♪ ♪ If you see a crocodile don't forget to scream ♪ So here's your recount map that you've done in earlier lessons with Miss Duckerty.

We're going to talk through the map just to remember the key details.

So this picture means three bears walking in the forest, and this picture is where they get home and baby bear realises that his porridge has been eaten and he was really sad 'cause he was looking after it, looking forward to it.

He was a bit confused as to what had gone on.

Then what happened next? What did baby bear find next? Can you tell the screens? That's right, he found that his chair was broken and he cried again because he was sad again.

Then they went upstairs and can you tell your screen next what happened to baby bear next? That's right, somebody was sleeping in his bed, who of course was Goldilocks.

Then she jumped out of the window and they never saw her again.

We think about baby bear, he was sad, he was upset, he was confused because of all of his things had either been eaten, broken, or used and he wasn't very happy about it.

If you feel like you want to recap the recount again, you can pause the video here.

Now it's time to role play our new ideas.

Now we are recycling the recount that you have learnt with Miss Duckerty, and recycling ideas means using the same structure and the same plot, but changing certain bits of it.

So for us, we're going to change the recount by changing the point of view.

So we're changing the characters because you learnt the recount from the point of view of baby bear.

I want us to tell the recount of what happened in the point of view of the porridge, the chair, and the bed.

We're going to be thinking about what they think of Goldilocks and what their experience of the day that she broke into the bears' house was like.

But before we do that, we'll have a look over your story map and recap your recount that you did with Miss Duckerty.

Now we're going to role play and imagine we're the different characters in the story and what their recount of the day was.

'Cause remember a recount is saying what happened to you the day before.

They're going to recount what it was like when Goldilocks came into the house.

So we're going to imagine we are the bowl of porridge, the chair, and the bed.

So Cedric, we're going to imagine we're on a TV show.

Would you mind being my TV host with your fancy scarf and microphone? You can use anything you want for a microphone at home, a fork, a remote, a brush like me.

Anything will do.

You're going to ask me, the bowl of porridge, some questions about my day.

Are you ready? What happened to you that day when Goldilocks entered the house? When Goldilocks came in the house, she ate me up, all of me.

She didn't even leave any of me for baby bear.

I'm so sad! Why has it upset you so much? Can you tell us more? Because I was saving my best bowl of porridge for baby bear and now there's none for him left.

And also, she left my bowl dirty.

She didn't even clean me up afterwards.

Oh, that's awful.

She didn't even clean you? No, and now I've got sticky, horrible porridge stuck to my bowl.

And you'll never guess what happened after that.

Oh, tell us more, we'd love to know.

She burped and she didn't even say excuse me.

She was so rude and I am so sad.

Can you see how you can go into role with the characters and imagine what they'd feel like if Goldilocks took them, ate them, sat on them without even asking? Can you tell your teddy talk partner how you think the chair might feel? How might the chair might feel about Goldilocks? Great ideas everyone.

He's probably hurt because she broke him.

He's probably really hurt.

Shall we go into role as the chair now? If you want to have a go before listening to me, you can pause the video now and pretend that you and your teddy talk partner are the chair and the interviewer.

Great work if you gave that a go.

Me and Cedric are going to give it a go now.

So chair, tell us about your experience when Goldilocks came into the house.

Oh, well when I saw what she did to porridge, I was so scared.

I didn't want her to come near me.

Oh goodness, and we see that your leg's broken.

Yeah, she broke my leg.

She sat on me without asking and broke my leg, and I fell to the floor.

Oh it was awful.

And what did she do? She laughed, but it really, really hurt.

I want you to have a go at pausing the video now children and go into role as the bed.

What might the bed say? He might be fuming, he might be angry that she was jumping all over the bed.

She might have messed up his covers, and then she might have snored and it kept him awake.

You bet he was really angry.

Could you pause the video now and have a go at doing that role play with your teddy talk partner.

Oh, well done if you managed to have a go at role playing today children.

Before I go, I've got a joke.

I'm good at jokes, aren't I Cedric? Okay, why does the old lady put wheels on her rocking chair? You don't know? Because she likes to rock and roll.

Do you get it, rock, rocking chair, roll on the wheels? I hope you did enjoy today's lesson children, and I'll see you in the next lesson, bye!.
