Hello.

I'm Adam and this is Panda.

And we are on unit 6, lesson 7, using the story "The King and the Moon," which is now being recycled and is a story about pirate fairies.

Let's see what's on the agenda today.

So first thing on the agenda today, I'm going to teach you a song about pirates.

And we can recycle it and have in it, our pirate fairies, and there's some actions to the dance as well.

After that we'll be listening to my attempt at telling the story for the first time and joining in with that.

And you'll be drawing your favourite moments from the story so later on you'll need a piece of paper and a pencil.

But for now, let's learn the song and a dance with fairy pirates in.

So for our warm up today, Panda and I are going to teach you the pirate fairy song.

And there's some actions to it as well.

So are you ready? I said are you ready? I forgot to tell you, when I say, "Pirates, are you ready?" you need to go, "Aye Aye, Captain." Should we try it again? Pirates are you ready? Aye Aye, Captain.

Pirates are you steady? Aye Aye, Captain.

Are you part of the crew? Aye Aye, Captain.

Then you know what to do.

Brilliant.

That's the first bit.

Now the verses go like this, We're pirate fairies we sing this tune.

We're pirate fairies we sing to the moon.

Pirate fairies, we sing this tune.

And you can join our crew.

Okay? So pirates are you ready? Aye Aye, Captain.

Pirates are you steady? Aye Aye, Captain.

Are you part of the crew? Aye Aye, Captain.

Then you know what to do.

Brilliant.

Oh and the dance bit.

We dance high, so your hands go up there, you ready? We dance high.

I bet you can guess what's happening next, don't you? We dance low.

If I go low now, I'll disappear off the screen.

So we dance high, we dance low.

We hoist the flag, so we imagine we're pulling a rope and the flag's going up.

We do the row, so imagine that we're rowing.

We've got a map, so we open our map.

We sail to sea.

We're everything a fairy pirate can be.

Okay.

I think we're ready to sing the song.

So pirates are you ready? Aye Aye, Captain.

Are you ready? Pirates are you ready? Aye Aye, Captain.

Pirates are you steady? Aye Aye, Captain.

Are you part of the crew? Aye Aye, Captain.

Then you know what to do.

Pirate fairies, we sing this tune Pirate fairies, sing to the moon Pirate fairies, we sing this tune and we can dance all night.

We dance high, we dance low.

We hoist the flag, we do the row.

We've got a map, we sail to sea.

We're everything a pirate fairy can be.

Pirates are you ready? Aye Aye, Captain.

Pirates are you steady? Aye Aye, Captain.

Are you part of the crew? Aye Aye, Captain.

Then you know what to do.

Pirate fairies, we sing this tune.

Pirate fairies sing to the moon.

Pirate fairies, we sing this tune.

and we can dance all night.

We dance high, we dance low.

We hoist the flag, we do the row.

We've got a map we sail to sea.

We're everything a pirate fairy can be.

Pirates are you ready? Aye Aye, Captain.

Pirates are you steady? Aye Aye, Captain.

You're part of the crew.

Aye Aye, Captain.

And you know what to do.

Well done.

So that was fun.

Pirate fairies, who'd have thought it? Well Panda and I had no idea we'd be doing pirate fairy songs in this unit.

But what's happened is, we've taken the story of the king and the moon and started to play with the ideas.

So I'm going to try and tell the story for the first time.

Let's have a very quick look at the story map first.

So in the last lesson, we recycled the story of the king and the moon.

And the king who was singing to the moon, I love you, is now changed.

And now we've got pirate fairies, and they're singing and dancing to the moon and no one likes their song.

We're pirate fairies we sing to the moon.

And a crab who was on the beach, one of the pirate fairies stands on it almost and scares it and he goes scuffling off across the island.

And the crab scuttles across the foot of a gorilla, a great big gorilla who is eating a mango.

And he's so shocked, he throws the mango, wee, boing, onto the head of a blue whale, who's so startled and angry, he flicks his tail and causes a great big wave that goes psssh, and soaks all the pirate fairies.

And they go, who has soaked us wet? It was the whale.

Why did you do it? It wasn't my fault, said the whale, because I was scared by a mango thrown by a gorilla.

Why did you scare the whale? It wasn't my fault, said the gorilla, because I was scared when a crab went over my foot.

Why did you scare the gorilla? It wasn't my fault, said the crab, it was your fault, with all your horrible singing and dancing, you don't even look where you're putting your feet.

So you are to blame for getting wet.

And the pirate fairies think, yes, it was our fault but we still want the moon.

And they spent the whole night singing and dancing and trying to capture the moon with a net, even trying to catch the reflection.

So it's a silly little story but it gives us a chance to have some fun with the king and the moon, to sing a new song, and to practise using the word, "because," in a new story.

Let's see how I get on with my first ever telling of your story.

It's story time, it's story time, look, listen, learn.

There was once a crew of pirate fairies, and these pirate fairies had everything.

They had treasure chests filled with gold and more diamonds and rubies than you possibly imagine.

But the one thing these pirate fairies did not have was the thing that they loved the most, they loved the silvery moon that shone and glistened in the sky.

And every night those pirate fairies would dance and sing under the moon.

We're pirate fairies we love the moon, we're pirate fairies we sing this tune.

We're pirate fairies we love the moon, and we can dance all night.

Every night they did this, but one night, in a hole under the sand, a little crab could not bear it anymore.

"Please stop singing your music," he called, "I can't get to sleep!" But they didn't stop singing.

We're pirate fairies we love the moon, we're pirate fairies we love the moon.

"Stop it," shouted the crab, his little voice in his little hole, no one heard him but then splat.

One of the pirate fairies put her foot right into his hole.

The poor little crab scuttled this way and that way.

He scuttled so fast, he did not see where he was going, and he scuttled over the foot of a great big, hairy gorilla.

"What was that?" called the great big gorilla, who was holding a mango, and in his shock, threw it high, high, high into the sky.

Wee, boing, til it landed right on the head of a big blue whale.

"What was that?" panicked the whale.

The tail of the whale hit the waves with a splash, and then a wave began to roll, faster and faster, and bigger and bigger.

The tail of the whale has made a huge wave that went on and on to the shore.

Psssh.

And right over the fairy pirates.

"We're soaking wet, who made that wave?" "It was the whale," called a gull.

The pirate fairies were so angry, they rowed out to see the whale, and they complained to the whale, "Your tail has made us wet, and it's all your fault." "Not me," said the whale, "it's not my fault.

"I splash my tail because I was hit on the head "by a mango thrown by a great big, hairy gorilla, "so you can't blame me, blame the gorilla." Hmm, thought the pirates.

And they rowed back to see the gorilla.

"We are wet, and you threw the mango "that scared a whale, that splashed his tail "that made a wave and soaked us." "It's not my fault," said the great big, hairy gorilla, "because a little crab, a little tiny, weeny crab, "scuttled across my foot.

"It made me jump and I threw the mango, "so you can't blame me, "You've got to blame the little crab." The pirate fairies went to see the little crab.

"We are wet and it's all your fault.

"You scuttled over the foot of a great big, hairy gorilla, "who threw a mango, and hit a whale who splashed his tail "and now we're wet, and it's your fault." "Uh-uh," said the crab, "for I was resting in my hole, "when you were singing that horrible music.

"We're pirate fairies we love the moon.

"You wouldn't stop, and then one of you put your foot "right into my hole.

"That's when I scuttled and I ran over the gorilla's foot.

"So you can't blame me, it's all your fault "for loving the moon." It is true, we love the moon, thought the pirates.

We love the moon.

We're pirate fairies, we love the moon.

And soon they were off again.

And that poor little crab scuttled back into his hole.

And those pirates, they sang and sang all night.

They climbed up to the highest peak on the island, and with nets they tried to grab the moon.

And for all we know, those pirate fairies are there still, trying to get the one thing they love more than anything else.

We're pirate fairies, we love the moon.

We're pirate fairies, we sing this tune.

We're pirate fairies, we love the moon, and we will dance all night.

And that was the end of that.

Did you have any favourite moments of the story? Did you like it when the pirates all got soaking wet? Did you like it when the whale splashed his tail and the great big wave began to roll? Whatever your favourite bits of the story were, it's your turn now to do some work.

Think about the story, what were the most memorable moments of it? Draw them now.

And when you're done, come back and we'll talk about that story some more.

Time to work.

So what were your memorable moments? We'd love to know.

Everybody at Oak Academy loves to see your work so ask your teachers and carers, and they'll know how to share your work with us.

And stories, we know, have to have memorable moments, and hopefully this one does.

So in the next session, we're going to be working at making those moments as memorable as possible, as together we step out the story.

And I guess, trying to make the story as funny and as silly as possible.

Stories also have to have learnings that make sense to us, so I wonder what that story means to you? We'll talk about that some more but for now, I think finishing with a song would be a good thing to do.

So pirates, are you ready? Aye Aye, Captain.

Pirates are you steady? Aye Aye, Captain.

Are you ready to go? Are you ready? Pirates are you ready? Aye Aye, Captain.

Pirates are you steady? Aye Aye, Captain.

Are you part of the crew? Aye Aye, Captain.

Then you know what to do.

Pirate fairies sing this tune, pirate fairies sing to the moon.

Pirate fairies we sing this tune, and we can dance all night.

Pirate fairies we sing this tune, pirate fairies sing to the moon.

Pirate fairies we sing this tune, and we can dance all night.

We dance high, we dance low.

We hoist the flag, we do the row.

We've got a map, we sail to sea.

We're everything a pirate fairy can be.

So pirates are you ready? Aye Aye, Captain.

Pirates are you steady? Aye Aye, Captain.

You're part of the crew.

Aye Aye, Captain.

And you know what to do.

Until next time, from Panda and I, goodbye.
