Hello there, I'm Adam and this is Panda, we are on unit six, lesson five, using the story The King and the Moon.

Let's see what's on the agenda today.

So for our warm-up today, we're going to learn a really famous nursery rhyme, and then, after that, we're going to rehearse your storytelling.

We'll tell the story of The King and the Moon together.

Maybe we'll have a quick look at the story map, first.

And then, it will be your turn to tell the story independently to your talk-teddy.

So you might need that later on in the session.

But not just yet, let's go on to the warm-up.

So today's nursery rhyme is a really famous one, it's called London Bridge is Falling Down.

And, there really is a London bridge and it's in London.

And this is the old nursery rhyme that goes with it.

Perhaps you could join in, there's some bits that come around every time, so, it goes like this.

♪ London bridge is falling down ♪ ♪ Falling down, falling down ♪ ♪ London bridge is falling down ♪ ♪ My fair lady ♪ So, in every verse it always finishes with.

♪ My fair lady ♪ So perhaps you could always join in with those, either out loud or in your head.

It goes like this.

So before we tell the story together chorally.

Panda thought to be a good idea to look at the pictures because we all learn stories in different ways.

Some of us like acting it, some of us like telling it, some of us like listening, and some of us like looking at pictures.

Lots of different ways of learning.

So here we go.

The story starts over here, if you can see my cursor.

Once upon a time, there was a king and he had everything apart from the one thing that he loved, he didn't have the moon.

So he'd stand on the balcony and he would sing, and he could see the moon through the trees, he'd go.

♪ Oh, moon, I love you ♪ ♪ Oh, moon, I'd swoon for you ♪ That kind of thing.

Now, in that tree, there's also a monkey who wanted the king to stop singing.

So he'd tried to get the attention of the king by throwing a banana.

But unfortunately, the banana , hits a mouse, and the poor mouse was so scared.

It scuttled up the tail of a elephant.

And then, the elephant was so scared by the mouse, it ran through the streets, and frightened a little girl, who threw her eggs in to the air and splattered on the king's face.

Now the king has eggs on his face and he's angry.

He goes, "Why?", said the king.

"Why did you do it?" "Wasn't my fault.", said the girl.

"It's because I was scared by the elephant." "Why?", said the king to the elephant.

"Wasn't my fault.", said the elephant.

"I was scared because a mouse ran in to my back." "Why?", said the king.

And the mouse says, "Well, it wasn't my fault because I was scared by a banana thrown by a monkey." And the king says to the monkey, "Why did you throw the banana?" And the monkey said, "Well, I was trying to get to sleep in the tree, and you kept on singing that horrible song and wouldn't stop.

So I threw a banana but I missed." And then the king finally realises that perhaps it was his fault all along.

And he climbs the highest mountain, stands on boxes, again, and again, and again, tries to reach the moon, she's the one thing he wants.

And he keeps on falling down.

So it's a silly and a funny story as well.

So, that's what it looks like in pictures.

Let's tell it together chorally.

So to practise telling the story, I thought it would be a really good idea, to tell it chorally, tell it together.

So I'm going to invite you to stand up If you want to, and sit down if you want to, too, your choice.

I like standing up because I like to be able to be a monkey sometimes.

And I want to be able to be an elephant in this story as well.

So we're going to do the actions together and if you can join in with what I'm saying sometimes, that's brilliant! Okay, so hands together, ready? Once upon a time, there was a king, who had everything.

But he did not have the moon.

The king loved the moon! And he would sing.

♪ I love the moon ♪ ♪ I want the moon ♪ In a tree there was a monkey "Please, stop!", said the monkey.

But the king did not stop.

So the monkey threw a banana! The banana hit a mouse on the head.

The mouse ran, it ran and ran, and ran, and ran, and ran, right up the tail of an elephant, good.

The elephant was scared.

So the elephant ran, and ran, and ran, and ran, and ran, and ran, and ran.

And the elephant scared a girl carrying eggs.

The eggs went in the air like that, and splat, splat, splat, splat, splat! On the head of the king.

"Why did you do that?", said the king.

"It wasn't my fault.", said the girl.

"I was scared because of the elephant." "Mmm, elephant, why did you scare the girl?" "It wasn't my fault, I was scared because of the mouse." "Mouse, why did you scare the elephant?" "It wasn't my fault, because I was scared by a banana thrown by a monkey." "Monkey, why did you scare the mouse?" "It was not my fault.", said the monkey.

"Because you were singing." "Mmm, I do love the moon." ♪ I love the moon ♪ And so the king climbed the mountain stood on top of boxes, and tried to reach the moon, but every time, he fell down.

And that is the end of that.

Well, that was you and I telling the story together.

The big challenge of the lesson is for you now to tell that story to your talk-teddy.

So I'm going to pause the video now.

Good luck and enjoy your storytelling.

You can tell it using words, some words, using actions, tell it in your own way.

Good luck! Time to work.

Wow! Panda and I, we think you're amazing because by far in a way the trickiest most difficult story we have told so far.

And you have done so well to work with that story.

Remember, everyone here at Oak Academy loves to see your work.

So ask your parents, and carers, and whoever's with you to share your work with us! Maybe they filmed it! 'Cause we're always happy to see it.

We're looking forward to the next half of the unit where we'll be taking that story and recycling it, completely changing it.

But I'm sure we'll be still using a very important word.

To celebrate, and to finish off this part of the unit, let's sing the Why-Because song.

Here we go.

♪ It's a really useful word, isn't it? ♪ ♪ Super clever too! ♪ ♪ We know a really useful word ♪ ♪ It's super clever have you heard ♪ ♪ The word is "because" ♪ ♪ Because, because it's the word ♪ ♪ We know a really useful word ♪ ♪ It's super clever have you heard ♪ ♪ The word is "because" ♪ ♪ Because, because it's the word ♪ ♪ Because is great ♪ ♪ Because it starts to answer any "why" ♪ ♪ Because connects us to the answer ♪ ♪ That you can't deny ♪ ♪ Because, because ♪ ♪ It starts to answer "why" ♪ ♪ It's the very best suggestion ♪ ♪ That starts to answer the question ♪ ♪ We know a really useful word ♪ ♪ It's super clever have you heard ♪ ♪ The word is "because" ♪ ♪ Because, because it's the word ♪ ♪ Because it's the word ♪ ♪ Because it's the word ♪ Well done, see you in the next session soon.
