Hello, I'm Adam, and this is Panda.

We are now on lesson eight of unit four using the story "The three Billy goats gruff." Let's see, what's on the agenda for today's lesson.

So for our warm up today we're going to play a quick word game followed by the main challenge of the session to sing the new story and to step out the new story using actions.

This is so, by the time we get to lesson 10, that you can tell the story of the "Three frilly goats" all by yourself, independently.

Okay, onto the warmup.

Hi there, Panda and I are over here, it won't be a blue screen for very long.

Our warmup game today is, we're going to look at two high frequency words and look at them in terms of this story.

So the first one is really tricky.

It's one of those words that you can't sound out, you just have to know it.

And it's really important.

And it's the word the, maybe you recognised it.

And in the story of "The three frilly goats fluff", we could look at one of those frilly goats, the little frilly goat.

What else could we have in this story where it uses the word the? Ah yes, the Tinseltown dragon.

So the, a really good word to recognise.

Another one's coming up now.

This word we can sound out, but I'm going to do it as a memory word today.

So look at this word.

Do you recognise it? And, brilliant word, high frequency word.

And we can use it in the story.

So over here we've got the Tinseltown dragon, and the little Billy goat, the dragon and the Billy goat, The, and, two brilliant words to recognise.

Time to sing the song of the new story.

Here we go.

♪ Three frilly goats, fancy and free ♪ ♪ Look to cross the river at the shops they could see ♪ ♪ We want to shop, they would cry ♪ ♪ But The tinsel town dragon won't let us by, ♪ ♪ We need a plan ♪ ♪ We need a trip, trap, trapping plan ♪ ♪ The little Billy goat crossed the bridge with a skip ♪ ♪ He went trip, trap, trapping, trip, trap, trip ♪ ♪ The Tinseltown dragon leapt out we are told ♪ ♪ I'm going to eat you up, hot, warm or cold ♪ ♪ Don't eat me, said the little billy goat ♪ ♪ Wear my hat, it'll look good on you ♪ ♪ She tried it on ♪ ♪ And that Billy goat was gone ♪ ♪ The middle-sized frilly goat crossed with a kick ♪ ♪ He went trip, trap, trapping, trip, trap, trip ♪ ♪ The Tinseltown dragon leapt out we are told ♪ ♪ And said, I'm going to eat you up hot, warm or cold ♪ ♪ Don't eat me, said the middle Billy goat ♪ ♪ Try this frock on, you'll look good in that ♪ ♪ She tried it on ♪ ♪ And that middle-sized frilly goat was gone.

So you can see that I've chosen to stand up for this part of the lesson.

It's fine for you to be watching now because I'm going to be showing you what to do.

So when we step a story, we have to use our body and do actions to help us remember it.

And if we can, we say something as well.

So on the floor, I always imagine there are some paving stones and today I'm imagining that they're square.

And every time I put my foot on a stone, I'm going to do an action and say something that helps me remember the story.

So the first time I do it, I might do it something like this.

Once upon a time, there were three frilly Billy goats who lived on a hill.

There was a problem.

The dragon who lived under the bridge could eat them.

First Billy goat threw a hat.

Second, Billy goat threw a frock.

The third Billy goat threw a scarf.

The dragon tried to put on the scarf, splash, but fell in the river.

And finally the dragon and the Billy goats went shopping.

So every time I step, it's always a little bit different, but I try to remember the important things, the memorable things.

So how about we do it once together and then I'll pause it and you can try it on your own.

So I'm going to invite you if you can now to stand and we're going to warm ourselves up a bit.

Storytellers are good at this.

We use our body.

So let's together, can you show me what your dragon might look like? The Tinseltown dragon was shiny and bright.

She razzled and dazzled a blinding, bright light.

She wore lots of diamonds and wore lots of gold, and she ate frilly Billy goats, hot, warm, or cold.

Okay, that's warmed me up.

Let's get ready to tell the story.

So with me then, our first step.

Once upon a time there were three Billy goats who were all frilly.

They wanted to go shopping.

The problem was the dragon, she would eat them up.

Whisper, whisper, whisper, whisper whisper, whisper, whisper, whisper, they made a plan.

That's a good thing to remember.

First frilly Billy goat threw a hat.

Second frilly Billy goat threw a frock.

Remember, the dragon tries to put them on, doesn't fit.

Third one threw a scarf.

Splash.

Finally, shall we do that together? Storytellers really like doing that one.

Finally, the dragon and the frilly Billy goats went to the shops.

Well done.

I'm going to pause the video now.

And I'd like you to try that with a partner or on your own, if you're really, really brave.

And once you're done, come back and we'll step again with even more detail, time for work.

Well done, how did you get on? Were you able to remember some of the story by stepping it? Here's another challenge.

We're going to do it again together, but we're going to put in some more detail.

So the things I want to put in are these bits that we learnt in the first few sessions of this unit.

The Billy goats went trip, trap, trapping trip, trap, trip.

Shall we do that together? Trip, trap, trapping, trip, trap, trip.

So when we do that action, it helps us remember those words.

This time, when the dragon comes out, we'll go The Tinseltown dragon leapt out, we are told and roared, I'm going to eat you up, hot, warm or cold.

Shall we do that together? The Tinseltown dragon leapt out we are told and said, I'm going to eat you up hot, warm or cold.

So we'll try and add in the trip, trap, trip, trap and that bit of the story as well.

So, it's getting more difficult, but it will help us when we tell the story in lesson 10.

Here we go, try and join in with me if you can.

But it's okay just to do the actions.

Here we go, first step.

Once upon a time, there were three Billy goats, fancy frilly goats who lived on a Hill.

They wanted to go shopping.

There was a problem.

The Tinseltown dragon would eat them up.

And so the middle-sized Billy goat made a plan, a trip, trap, trapping plan.

The first Billy goat put on a hat and went trip, trap, trapping, trip, trap, trip.

The Tinseltown dragon leapt out, we are told and roared, ready? I'm going to eat you up hot, warm or cold.

Brilliant.

Little Billy goat threw his hat.

The middle-sized Billy goat went trip, trap trapping trip, trap, trip.

The Tinseltown dragon leapt out, we are told and roared I'm going to to eat you up, hot, warm, or cold.

Try this frock on.

It doesn't fit.

The big Billy goat went trip, trap, trapping trip, trap trip.

The dragon, the Tinseltown dragon leapt out, we are are told and roared, are you ready? I'm going to eat you up, hot, warm or cold.

He threw a scarf.

The dragon tried it on.

Splash.

Finally the dragon and the three frilly goats went to the shops.

So that's just another way of stepping through the story.

A little bit of acting it out, but moving around using our body, and when I'm doing it, it helps me see the story in my head.

And I wonder how it is for you? That was fun.

Stepping done.

Well done.

Are you sitting down again? We have done so much today.

We started off with a word game, a game of you can't sound it out, so you just have to know it.

And we looked at the words, the, and and.

We also listened to the story being sung and we've stepped it, twice, with a lot of detail, putting in actions for all the big bits that we have to say.

The trip, trap, trapping, and what happens when the dragon leaps out.

All these things are helping us become storytellers and use these wonderful words to tell the stories.

Well, in the next session, we are going to work more on actions and be so good at them that we can show the story, act it out without speaking.

But all the words will be in our head.

So until then, we challenge you to show your stepping to somebody and try to explain what is going on.

And we really look forward to seeing you in the next lesson soon.

Until then from Panda and I, bye bye.
