- Hi, and welcome to our first lesson today.

I'm Miss Waka, and our learning objective is now how to solve a problem with my friends because a problem shared is a problem halved.

Hi, and welcome to our lesson today.

My name is Miss Waka, and I am going to be your teacher today.

What's your name? Oh hi! Can you remember why I'm dressed up as a beautiful butterfly? Well, my journey began as an egg, and then I became a caterpillar.

Do you remember? Because like you, I was going to be starting a new school, but now I have grown my wings and I have become stronger from the last session.

Remember, I became a pupa? And now I'm a beautiful butterfly.

I have been exploring more and more now.

I saw lots creatures, too.

I'm getting stronger day by day, just like you are becoming stronger and stronger.

You will be flying much higher now too, I bet.

I think you are all ready to fly really high and you will be able to manage your feelings and be really good friends.

In today's lesson, you will need your looking eyes, your listening ears, your beautiful singing voice, and your talk partner, Teddy.

Pause the video and go get the things that you need.

Remember our lesson on what makes a good friend? What makes a good friend? Pause the video and talk to your talk partner, Teddy.

Yes, super.

You're right.

A good friend shares and a good friend smiles.

A good friend is kind, too.

Yes, you are right.

You really have got your thinking caps on today, haven't you? Be careful with your words.

Don't call anyone names or use unkind words.

If we use kind words, we make other people smile and feel happy.

If we are upset, our friends.

By using unkind words, we may not have many friends, and that will be very sad, wouldn't it? Sometimes you may not agree with your friend.

You may be unhappy or want to play their game.

In today's lesson, you will be learning about ways to sort these disagreements out or find ways to cope when you are upset about the choices made by others.

Your friend wants the same wooden block as you.

Do you, A, give them a wooden block, even though you want it? Or B, say, "No, it's mine!"? Pause the video and have a think.

That's right.

A, give them the wooden block, even though you want it because being kind and sharing your toys is something a good friend does.

And you would like to be a good friend, wouldn't you? I'm sure you would.

So what is conflict? Conflict is another word for a disagreement.

We decided that it was a kind thing to let your friend borrow the piece because sharing is caring.

Conflict is that feeling of but I don't want to share.

And the feeling of upset because you were playing with the blocks first.

We all have those feelings, but it's how we manage those feelings of conflict and how we deal with them.

I'm going to go through a few ways we can resolve conflict so we can manage our feelings when there is a bit of a disagreement and you feel a little bit upset because you want to do something.

Let's think of a conflict or a problem.

If you are in the line for snack and everybody gets a banana and you are last in the line, but there are no bananas left, what do you do? Do you, A, get upset and begin to cry? B, snatch the banana from another child? Or C, wait patiently for your teacher to find another snack for you? Pause the video and have a think.

Well done.

We should wait patiently for your teacher to find another snack for you.

My friend Rapper Joe is going to help us today.

Can you see him on holiday on the beach? I've got some letters from some children that want some help to resolve some conflicts, some problems that they're having, and he's going to help us resolve these conflicts as best he can.

Are you there Rapper Joe? Are you gonna be able to help us today? - Great, I would love to help these children smile again.

- Excellent, I'm glad to hear it.

Our first one is from a little boy called Adam.

He says, when we play tag, I always get caught because I'm not as fast as the other children.

It's not fair.

What you say to this Rapper Joe? - Don't worry, Adam.

We are not all sporty.

I bet you are a better artist or a mathematician anyway.

But don't get upset and don't get angry.

If you do, stand still and count to 10, and if you're still feeling sad, then go talk to an adult.

Go talk to a friend.

Yeah? You feel me dog? - Thank you, Rapper Joe.

Our second one is from Sophia.

Sophia says, "She doesn't have any friends.

No one wants to play with me." What you say to this Rapper Joe? - Oh, Sophia, that is well sad, man.

But don't worry.

I bet it's not even true.

I bet you got loads of friends.

So why don't you next time that you are still alone, go and ask someone to join in with you.

Yeah? I know you will feel sad, but don't worry.

I bet your friends think you want to play on your own.

So if you ask them, I bet they'll let you join in, man.

No worries.

- Thank you for that Rapper Joe.

Rapper Joe, are you going to end with a rap for us please? - Okay then.

So a lot of the conflict is about playing together and not fighting.

Like I good friend Shakira said, no fighting.

So if the problem is let's not fight how could we solve this? Hmm.

- Let's go.

Shall we hear your rap then.

- First stop and think.

Stay calm.

Yes, stay calm.

Count to 10 and say sorry.

Shall I rap it? Let's go.

Let's not fight.

Stop.

Think.

Stay calm.

Yes, stay calm.

Count to 10 and say, sorry.

Don't snatch that toy.

Stop.

Think.

Stay calm.

Stay calm.

Count to 10 and say sorry.

Play with that boy that's on his own.

Stop.

Think.

Stay calm.

Yes, stay calm.

Count to 10 and say, sorry.

- Shall we try to remember some of the ways we can resolve conflict? Pause the video and talk to your Teddy.

Well done.

We could count to 10.

Listen to others.

Talk to a friend or an adult.

Walk away.

Think about how the other person is feeling.

What's that word? Empathy.

Or sometimes say, sorry.

Well done guys.

Can you remember the rap from the Rapper Joe? I want to help you remember some of the ways to resolve conflicts that we went through and create your very own rap.

Do you remember what Rapper Joe said? He said think of a conflict, like a problem.

Say no one.

So no one playing with you, someone snatching your all the ties, not getting what you want, someone hurting you or pushing you or kicking you.

They are all conflicts, aren't they? Now do you remember the line that Rapper Joe keeps repeating? Stop, think, stay calm.

Yes, stay calm.

Count to 10 and say, sorry.

Well done.

You have a go.

I would like you to have a go at creating and performing your very own rap.

First, you need think about different conflict situations.

Remember like Rapper Joe said, maybe someone snatching your tie.

Someone kicking you, someone hurting you, which we hope never happens, but sometimes it might.

Next, think of ways to resolve the conflict.

So remember the ways.

Think, stop, stay calm, counting to 10, saying sorry.

Empathy, standing in someone else's shoes.

Then join your problem in your conflict to make your very own rap.

You are all free butterflies, ready to soar the skies! I look forward for you sharing your raps with us.
