Hi, I'm Miss Davies.

In this lesson we're going to be looking at composite and multiple bar charts.

This is a multiple bar chart.

For each of the categories on the horizontal axis there are more than one bar.

In this case there are three bars.

This multiple bar chart shows the visitors to an area of a park over four weeks.

The first bar in each category, the green one, represents the morning.

The middle bar, which is the pink colour, represents the afternoon.

The final bar, which is the purple colour, represents visitors in the evening.

You can see, the same as with normal bar charts, the bars are all the same width.

There is also an equal sized gap between each of the sets of bars.

The vertical axis increases by the same amount each time.

Between every line it is worth two.

We have been asked which week was the busiest? To do this, we need to identify how many people visited the area of the park each week.

Week one, in the morning, eight people visited.

In the afternoon, 12 people.

In the evening, 15 people.

Going to complete this table for each of the four weeks.

We now need to work out the total for each week.

Week one, the total is 35.

Week two, the total was 39.

Week three, the total was 37.

And week four, the total was 36.

So week two was the busiest.

Here are the answers.

Lucy scored 37 goals and Rosia scored 28 goals.

So Lucy scored more goals.

September was the mode month for Lucy, as this was when she scored the most number of goals.

In January Rosia started to score more goals each month than Lucy.

Your duel bar chart should look something like this.

The biggest difference in hours of sunshine is in December.

This is a composite bar chart.

It shows the same information as the first example with the multiple bar chart.

Composite bar charts have the information all in a stack.

So the bottom sections represent the morning.

The middle sections represent the afternoon, and the top sections in this example represent the evening.

We're going to read it in the same way as we did before.

Here are the answers.

The differences in sales on a Saturday is that breakfast roll sales decreased and burger sales increased.

That's all for this lesson.

Thanks for watching.
