Hi everyone.

And welcome to our final lesson on Christian practises.

My name is Mrs. Day, and it is great to be with you for this lesson.

So in this lesson today, we are going to have an opportunity to do some deliberate practise of what you have learnt so far.

So I would recommend that you do the revision lesson before this lesson.

So you can go through lots of the key things we have learned, but if you're ready and feel confident, then do begin our deliberate practise lesson.

So what do you need for today's lesson? It would be great if you could find a pen or a pencil, a piece of paper on a different coloured pen.

This is to mark the work that you will do, feel free to pause the video now and go to get this equipment if you don't already have it and press resume when you're ready to move on.

So in this lesson, we are going to do lots of practise of knowledge that you have learned.

So we will start with some quick fire questions to check if you're really confident on what we have done.

Then we will do some key quotations.

So we will look at four quotations and make sure we know them.

And then we will explain what these quotes mean.

So, firstly, let's begin with some quick fire questions.

You can write these down or you can simply point at the screen.

Sometimes I think it's better to write it down because then you have to commit to one answer rather than flip in between two.

And then I will give you five seconds to make your decision and then we'll show you the answer.

So, number one, which words refers to the idea of an outward sign of an inward grace? So the idea of an outward sign of inward grace, is it sanctity of life, stewardship, transubstantiation or sacrament.

five, four, three, two and one.

It is of course a sacrament, well done.

Which style of worship is carried out alone and could involve rosary beads.

Is it Liturgical, non-liturgical, private or public.

five, four, three, two and one.

It is of course, private.

Remember rosary beads are the beads in which someone touches them as they are praying for different things.

Usually it is a Roman Catholic that carries like this practise.

Which style of worship follows a set structure and is quite traditional.

Five, four, three, two and one.

It is Liturgical, well done.

Which item in the church is used for communion.

The font, fund, sorry, the altar, stained glass windows or the lectern.

Five, four, three, two and one.

It is of course the altar.

This is where the communion is put up the front of the church.

Which item in this church is used for baptism.

Is it the font, the altar, stained glass windows or the lectern.

Five, four, three, two and one.

It is of course the font.

This has put out the entrance to the church because of the belief that people should be baptised when they become Christians.

Which form of baptism is used for babies.

Is it infant baptism, baby baptism, believer's baptism or adult baptism.

Five, four, three, two and one.

It is infant baptism, well done.

Which denomination of the church believes in transubstantiation? Is it the Baptist church, Church of England, Protestant church or the Catholic church? Five, four, three, two and one.

It is the Catholic church.

Remember transubstantiation is the belief that the bread and the wine literally changed substance into the body and the blood of Jesus.

Which of the following pilgrimage locations is in France.

Is it Iona, Lourdes, Bethlehem or Jerusalem.

Five, four, three, two and one.

It is Lourdes.

It is in the South of France, well done.

Which of the following pilgrimage locations, is famous for healings.

Is it Iona, Lourdes, Bethlehem or Jerusalem? Five, four, three, two and one.

It is Lourdes, well done.

This is where Saint Bernadette had a vision of Mary and many people were healed.

Which of the following organisations aims to spread the news about Jesus in local communities.

Is it street pastors, food banks, open doors or alpha.

Five, four, three, two and one.

It is of course, alpha.

This organisation aims to tell people about Jesus.

Now you're going to answer true or false to the following questions.

Number one.

Some Christians don't believe that confession to a priest is necessary.

Five, four, three, two and one.

This is true.

Remember we said, Protestant Christians don't believe you have to confess what you've done wrong to your priest.

They do believe that you should confess it to God, but you can go straight to God and not through a priest.

The Paschal candle is lit at Christmas.

Is this true or false? Five, four, three, two and one.

This is of course false.

It is lit on Easter Sunday.

Food banks ensure that people have access to food.

Is this true or false? Five, four, three, two and one.

This is true.

They provide food for people in the local community who might need food.

Really well done on those quick fire questions.

I wonder how many you got right.

Now we're going to move on to look at some key quotations.

So by the end of this lesson, you should know these quotations off by heart and be able to explain how you could use them.

So firstly, we are going to read through these key quotations together, so you can follow along on the screen as I read, "Go then to all peoples everywhere "and make them my disciples, "baptise them in the name of the father, the son, "and the Holy spirit." Matthew chapter 28 verse 19.

The second one, "This is my body, "which has given for you, "do this in memory of me." Luke chapter 22 verse 19.

And these words were spoken by Jesus at the last supper.

"Love your neighbour as you love yourself." Matthew 22, verse 38.

Again, the words of Jesus.

And finally, "Then the Lord God placed the man in the garden of Eden to cultivate it and guard it." Genesis chapter two, verse 15.

And that is from the creation story.

And we can see the idea of stewardship there.

So what I would like you to do now is to fill in the gaps.

So you can pause the video here, and complete the gaps, with the words below me.

So you will see, I have taken certain words out of the verses.

So I would like you to copy the quotations and fill in the gaps.

So the first one is, go then to all something everywhere.

And make them my something, baptise them in the name of the something, the son and the something spirit.

So what I would like you to do is pause the video here and copy out all four of these quotations, completing them with the words below.

And when you're finished doing this, you can press resume and we will go through the answers together.

Well done, let's go through some of these answers together.

So go then to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples, baptise them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy spirit.

The second one, this is my body, which has given for you do this in memory of me.

Thirdly, love your neighbour as you love yourself.

And finally, then the Lord God place the man in the garden of Eden to cultivate it and guard it.

If you would like more time to copy these down, I recommend that you pause the video here.

You write down at these key words, and then you move on.

If I was you I would pause this and read over these a few more times because this activity is about to get a more challenging.

What I would like you to do now is resume again.

So you're going to pause the video here and fill in the gaps, but you will notice that I have removed the key words below me.

And they're slightly more words missing.

So this is getting more and more challenging.

Please do copy out the whole quotation as it helps you to remember it.

So you can have a go and then press resume when you have finished.

Good effort, let's see what you got right.

So go then to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples, baptise them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy spirit.

Secondly, this is my body which is given for you, do this in memory of me.

Thirdly, love your neighbour as you love yourself.

And then finally, then the Lord God placed the man in the garden of Eden to cultivate it and to guard it.

So again, if you would like to pause the video here and make sure you've got all this, please do that and run through them another few times.

You can say them out loud.

You can walk around your room saying them, I know you might think it sounds a bit silly, but it's the best way to get it into your head.

So now we are going to make it even more challenging and I've taken on quite a few words now.

So again, have a go at copying the verses and filling in the gaps.

Make sure you don't read where you have written it before, but copy and fill in the gaps.

So press pause while you do that and then press resume.

And we will go through these together.

Great, let's have a look at the answers together.

Go then to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples, baptise them in the name of the father, the son and the Holy spirit.

Secondly, this is my body which is given for you do this in memory of me.

Thirdly, love your neighbour as you love yourself.

And finally, then the Lord God placed the man in the garden of Eden to cultivate it and guard it.

I wonder how many you got, again if you need, please do pause the video here and write the keywords that you need.

Finally, I would like you to really test yourself and see if you can remember all of the quotations from memory.

So pause the video here and use the sentence starters to help you.

So you have the first two or three words of every verse there for you.

So pause the video here and see if you can remember.

When you have tried your best press resume and we will go through the answers together.

Really well done.

Let's see what you got.

So here are the verses in their fill form.

So you can mark your own with a different coloured pen.

So firstly, go then to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples, baptise them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy spirit.

The second one, this is my body which has given for you do this in memory of me.

Third one, love your neighbour as you love yourself.

I'm sure lots of you got that one.

And finally, then the Lord God placed the man in the garden of Eden to cultivate it and guard it.

Really well done on those.

Now it is really important that we think about what these quotations mean, because it is great if you know lots of quotations, but if you don't understand what they mean they're not really that much of use.

Because the meaning is what decides where you use it and when you use it.

So as well as knowing it, you have to be able to explain what it means.

So let's have a go at explaining these verses.

So firstly, I've shown you an example.

I have chosen the potentially easiest one to show you what you need to do.

So this one says, love your neighbour as you love yourself.

So below it I have written down what it means.

So this quotation shows the Christian belief that Christians should love others and treat them well.

This could be applied to the topic of service.

So I said what it shows and what topic we could use it for.

I would like you to have a go and do the same thing for this verse.

So the first says, "Go then to all peoples everywhere "and make them my disciples, "baptise them in the name of the Father, "the Son and the Holy spirit." And I would like you to finish the sentences beside me.

So it says this quotation links to the belief that Christians should.

dot dot.

They could do this by dot.

dot.

It also shows that Christian should.

dot dot.

They could do this by dot.

dot.

So you're saying, what does, what's the belief that it shows Christian should? And then how do they do this? There's two different parts of the verse that you are looking at.

You can press pause and write this down.

I please use full sentences.

And when you're finished press resume and we will go through it together.

So let's go through this answer together.

So go then to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples, baptise them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy spirit.

So this quotation links to the belief that Christians should evangelise to all people.

They could do this by taking part in Alpha.

So I've got that information from the first half of the verse where it says go to people everywhere and make them my disciples.

This also shows that Christians should be baptised and baptise others.

They can do this through infant or believers baptism.

So I got that from the second part of the verse.

So hopefully you got something similar.

You can also add some short corrections to your work with your different coloured pen.

Let's have a go at the next verse.

So this verse says, "This is my body which has given for you "do this in memory of me." And here are three sentence starters you should use.

This quotation links to the belief that Christian should.

dot dot.

dot.

So what should they do because of this verse.

Some Christians believe, dot dot dot.

Other Christians believe, dot dot dot.

So your first sentence, is what they should do because of this verse.

And then the second and third sentence, are either understood differently by different Christians.

So have a go at this press pause, and when you've finished press resume and we will go through it together.

Really well done.

So the first set, this is my body which is given for you do this in remembrance of me.

So here's some ideas, of how you could have structured your paragraph.

This quotation links to the belief that Christians should take the Eucharist or Communion.

Some Christians believe in transubstantiation.

This means the bread and wine, literally turn into the body and blood of Jesus.

Other Christians believe it is an act of remembrance.

So my first sentence is about the idea of Eucharist or Communion in general.

And then the two, after that, explain how Catholics and Protestants understand it differently.

Really well done.

If you've got something similar to that.

Again, you don't have to have it word for word, but if you have the general idea, that's really good.

Let's look at our last quote.

So this quote says, "Then the Lord God placed the man in the garden of Eden "to cultivate it and guard it." So I want you to use these two sentence starters.

This quotation links to the belief that Christian should dot dot dot and then Christians can do this by dot dot.

So what should Christians do because of this verse and how do they do it? So pause the video here, write down your two sentences and press resume.

And we will go through your final paragraph together.

Great, let's have a look at your answers.

Great, so the verse says, "Then the Lord God placed the man in the garden of Eden "to cultivate it and guard it." And you could have said something like this, this quotation links to the belief that Christian should practise stewardship.

Remember stewardship is the idea of caring for the environment.

Caring for the world.

Christians can do this by caring for the environment, recycling and reducing global warming.

If you had other examples that is completely fine, as long as they are relevant.

Really well done on that.
