Hello, everyone.

It's lovely to see you.

I hope you're excited and ready for today's lesson.

I know my friend, Reggie, is.

Can you say hello, Reggie? Oh, Reggie? What have you got there in your hands? Reggie said he's got some shapes.

What would you like to do with those shapes, Reggie? Reggie would like to see if I can make a pattern with them.

Do you think you can help me? Let's take a look and see what shapes Reggie has brought today.

There we are.

So we have got, what's this? Triangle.

What's this one? A square, great.

And we have got one, circle.

So let's take a look at what we can make.

I think I've got an idea.

We can have a red triangle here, and blue triangle here, a red triangle here.

And what do you think is going to come next? I can hear some of you shouting out the answer.

A blue triangle.

Red, blue, red, blue.

Red triangle, blue triangle, red triangle, blue triangle.

I think we've made a great pattern with the shapes Reggie found.

Hold on, I think we might be able to find one more.

I'm going to take away these blue triangles and let's see what else we can do because Reggie also bought us some squares.

How about if I put this square here and a square here, do you think you can say what pattern I've made? Shout the answer out to the screen when you know.

I can hear a lot of you shouting out the answer.

Let's say it together.

Red triangle, red square, red triangle, red square.

I think we did a great job with the shapes Reggie brought us.

Give yourselves two claps for joining in.

Well done, everyone.

So these shapes have their own name, but they also have another name that we can call them.

They're called 2-D shapes.

Can you say that? 2-D shapes.

Great, but today we're not learning about 2-D shapes.

Today we're going to be learning about 3-D shapes in the environment.

It's going to be great.

Here's what you will need.

You will need a pencil or a pen, and you'll also need a sheet that looks a little bit like this.

Press pause now to go and get those things and I'll see you in a bit when you are ready.

Welcome back, everyone.

Do you have your sheet and your pen or pencil? That's great.

Now you're ready for today's learning.

Here are the spelling words.

I am going to say them and you can say them after me.

Are you ready? 3-D shape, cube, cuboid, cylinder, cone, and sphere.

Let's take a look at what some of those key words look like.

So here we are.

Here is the first 3-D shape.

You might recognise what this shape looks like.

It's called a sphere.

Can you say that? Great.

That's our first 3-D shape, a sphere.

Let's take a look at the second 3-D shape.

Here we are.

You might also recognise another object that looks like this 3-D shape.

It's called a cuboid.

Can you say that? Well done.

A cuboid.

Let's take a look at another one.

Here we are.

A lovely, yellow cube.

It's called a cube and you might even recognise some of the shapes of the faces on this cube.

Can you say that? Cube.

Great.

Now let's take a look at this one.

Looks like it has a circle face here and a circle face at the bottom.

It's called a cylinder.

Cylinder.

Can you say that? You're doing great at this.

And our final 2-D shape, 3-D shape, sorry, we're going to look at is called a cone.

Can you say that? Well done.

A cone.

So those are our 3-D shapes.

Now let's take a look at some of the objects that I found at home and you might be able to tell me which shapes some of the objects that I found looks like.

Let's have a look.

Here's what I found at home.

You know what it is? Shout it out if you know.

Great, an ice cream cone.

That's right.

I found this one in the kitchen.

What 3-D shape do you think it looks like? Do you think it looks like the cube? Or do you think it looks like this cone here? The cube or the cone, which one? I can hear a lot of you shouting out the answer.

A cone.

There we are.

The cone is cone-shaped.

Well done.

Now let's take a look at another shape.

Here we are.

Do you remember what this one is called? If you don't that's okay.

It's called a sphere.

It's called a sphere.

I found an object at home that looks a little bit like a sphere.

Which one was it? Was it this one? Or was it this one? Tennis ball or a tin? Which one do you think that's like a sphere or a sphere-shaped? Shout your answer out to the screen when you know.

Great.

The ball is a sphere shape.

You're doing great at this.

Let's have a look at another one of my objects.

I think we'll have a look at this one.

You might recognise what this one is called.

Shout it out to the screen if you know.

Great, it's called a die.

Let's take a look and see what shape the die is.

Is it a cone shape? Or is it a cube shape? Shout your answer out to the screen when you know.

Great.

It's a cube shape.

Well done, everyone.

Give yourselves two claps for great joining in.

Now let's take a look at what we're going to do today.

So with your sheet of paper, you're going to go on a bit of a shape hunt.

The top of the sheet of paper has the 3-D shapes in a row.

We've got a cube, a cuboid, a cone, and a sphere.

So if we use one of the objects that I showed you earlier, this one, a cone, we can find a cone here and I can draw my ice cream cone.

There we are.

And I'll write what it is underneath.

Ice cream cone.

That's what I've found at home.

Let's see, another thing that I found.

Oh, remember the tennis ball.

Can you remind me what shape it was? Was it a cube, was it a cuboid, or was it a sphere? I can hear some of you shouting out the answer.

It was a sphere.

So I'm going to draw my tennis ball here and then I'm going to write tennis ball underneath.

There we are.

Now it's your turn.

Have a look around your home and see what you can find.

Use your sheet to help you.

What two 3-D shapes will you find? Will you find a ball in your house like me? And what 3-D shape will it look like? Or will you find a die in your house like me? What shape will you put it under? Press pause now to go and do that and I'll see you in a bit when you're ready.

Welcome back everyone.

Did you find your shapes? Did you put them underneath the correct shape on your 3-D hunt sheet? If you did, give yourselves two pats on the back.

Great work.

Now, practise looking around for 3-D shapes.

Maybe you might see some on a shape walk outside, or maybe you might find some more in your home.

Well done for today, and I'll see you again next time.
