Hi everyone.

I'm Ms. Boyd, your music teacher.

And today, we're going to learn about which instruments make high pitch sounds.

In this lesson, you'll need three things your singing voice, your bodies and your thinking brain.

But before we get started, should we sing a song to say hello? ♪ Off we go ♪ ♪ Hello, hello ♪ ♪ It's good to see you ♪ ♪ Hello hello ♪ ♪ It's good to see you.

♪ ♪ I must say, you have made my day ♪ ♪ Hello, hello, hello ♪ Okay, for our first learning activity today, we are going to play, what can you hear? Now most instruments can make a high pitch sound but some are designed to make high pitch sounds.

So we're going to listen out to three different musical instruments and I'd like you to try and guess which instruments they are.

Are you ready? Listening is on.

What instrument do you think that was? Should we list them again? That's right.

It was the flute.

Now the flute is in the woodwind family and it plays lots and lots of gorgeous high pitch sounds.

Should we have a listen to our second instrument? Should we listen again? That's right.

That was the violin.

The violin is in the string family and it plays loads of great high pitch sounds.

You ready to listen to our third instrument? Shall we listen again? That was the recorder.

Well done.

You may have heard that one at school.

Right, now for our second learning activity.

This time I'd like you to go on a special walk.

I'd like you to go on a musical listening walk around your home, and I'd like you to listen for any sounds that make high pitch.

It could be an object.

It could be a person.

But I want you to have a special listen to see if you can find three different things that made a high pitch sound in your home.

That's right.

I heard a microwave being used and those buttons are really, really high-pitched.

And here's the second high pitch thing that I heard.

That's right.

I heard my baby sister making lots of noise and she was really squeaky and high-pitched.

Here's the third thing I heard.

My doorbell rang and it's really high-pitched.

Okay, for our third learning activity today we're going to sing a song, A song that I think you might know.

"Old MacDonald had a farm".

That's right But, today's a special day.

For some reason on the farm there are only animals with high pitch sounds.

Can you think of any other high-pitched animal sounds.

After this lesson, have a go singing this again with some more high-pitched animals sounds.

Okay, I think we've got time for one more learning activity.

This time we're going to play a game called don't sing this one back.

When I go like this I'm going to sing a tune.

And when I go like that, it's your turn to copy me.

But, if I sing in a low pitch sound, don't sing it back.

I need you to cover your mouth and don't sing that one back.

So the rule is to only sing the high-pitched notes back.

If you hear me singing a low-pitched note, don't copy it.
