Today's lesson is called Home is where your heart is, where we will be recognising different types of homes.

We are going on a walk today.

Would you like to come along with me? I wonder what we will see along the way.

Oh, there, I spot something, homes, lots of them, all different, some big, some small, some all in a row, some tall, some short, and even some on wheels.

Isn't it amazing? We all live on homes, but they're all different types.

Our homes protect us from heat, rain, cold, and snow.

Let's take a look at each of these homes.

These are terraced homes, they are called this because there are three or more homes joined together.

Pause the video and have a think.

Is your home joined to another? Nod if you do, shake if you don't.

Interesting, well done.

Let's keep going.

Oh, look, there's a semidetached house.

Can you see that? Let's break it up.

Se, mi, de, tached.

Great, let's put it together now, semidetached.

And this picture shows that there are two homes joined together.

Pause the video and have a think.

Do you live in a se, mi, de, tached house? Nod if you do, shake if you don't.

That's great.

Let's keep moving.

This house is different.

It is a house on its own with a garden all the way around.

This is called a detached house.

This mean it's all on its own.

Pause the video and have a think.

Do you live in a detached house, a house that is all on its own with a garden all the way around maybe? Nod if you do, shake if you don't.

That's great.

Let's keep moving.

Ooh, what do you notice about this one? Yes, it looks smaller than the others, doesn't it? This home is called a bungalow.

Can you say that? Great.

This house has a downstairs and no upstairs.

All the rooms to this house are on one floor.

Pause the video and have a think.

Do you have to go upstairs in your home? Is it a bungalow? Nod if it is, shake if it's not.

Lovely, not as many this time.

Let's keep walking.

Wow, that's a tall building.

Maybe your home is here.

You'd have to have really strong legs to climb up those stairs to get home.

Yeah, these are called flats, where there are many one floor homes in a tower building.

Pause the video and have a think.

Is your home in a tower building and is on one floor? Nod if it is, shake if it's not.

Wow, you must have really strong legs.

Let's keep walking.

This is different to all the homes we've seen so far.

Do you know what this is? Good try, this is called a caravan, which is a small home on wheels and it is home to some people.

Is it a home for you? Nod if it is, shake if it's not.

That's interesting.

Each home is different.

I wonder if you can remember the different names of the homes.

Can you point to the picture that shows a semidetached home? Fantastic, two homes joint together on one side is called a semidetached home.

Can you point to the picture that shows a set of flats? Great, a tower of one story homes are called flats.

Finally, can you point to the caravan? Excellent, the home on wheels is called a caravan.

You have listened well.

Your task is not one that you need to do right now.

Next time you are out with your parents or carer, maybe for a walk or in the car, I would like you to spot all the different homes in your community and see if you can name them.

All the homes are different and it is a place that we are safe.

It's good to be different.

Remember, our home is where the heart is with our loved ones.

I would love to see all the different homes in your community.
