♪ Ready, off we go ♪ ♪ Squirrel sits up in his tree ♪ ♪ Only one small nut has he ♪ ♪ Let us go you and me ♪ ♪ With a sackful for his tea ♪ Fantastic.

You can practise singing this song, clapping along to the beat.

Great job everyone.

This time, we're going to continue singing our squirrel song but we're going to be clapping on the first beat of each line of the song.

I'll show you what I mean first.

♪ Squirrel sits up in his tree ♪ ♪ Only one small nut has he ♪ ♪ Let us go you and me ♪ ♪ With a sackful for his tea ♪ I clapped on the first beat of each line of the song.

In music, we would call that the first beat of the bar.

This is because music is divided up into bars and in this song, each bar has four beats.

So my pattern would be one, two, three, four.

One, two, three, four.

One, two, three, four.

One, two, three, four.

Maybe you can join in with me.

Let's try that together.

Ready, off we go.

♪ Squirrel sits up in his tree ♪ ♪ Only one small nut has he ♪ ♪ Let us go you and me ♪ ♪ With a sackful for his tea ♪ Fantastic.

Let's try doing a different action on beat one.

Maybe we could tap our shoulders on beat one.

And click our fingers on beat two, three and four.

Lets have a go.

♪ Ready, off we go ♪ ♪ Squirrel sits up in his tree ♪ ♪ Only one small nut has he ♪ ♪ Let us go you and me ♪ ♪ With a sackful for his tea ♪ See if you can try your own pattern.

You can use anything as long as beat one is different to the other beats.

That's to show that the first beat is always the strongest beat in the song.

Well done you.

Pause the video to practise singing these songs to your teddy or toy.

Have a go at making the first beat of the bar stronger than the rest by doing a different action.

You can press play again, once you're finished.

The strongest beat is always the first beat in the pattern.

Fantastic.

Which beat is usually the strongest beat in the bar? Is it beat number one? Beat number two, beat number three.

Or beat number four? That's right, it's in number one Now is time to do some listening.

This piece of music is called Habanera that called Carmen See how many different ways you can move your body in time to the beat.

You could tap your head, clap your hands click your fingers, stamp your feet.

It's really up to you.

Today we have learnt, to review our understanding of pulse, to maintain a steady pulse, to find a strong beat in a bar and to move along to music.
