Today's session is called "Religion is hope." We will be thinking about different religions people follow in our world.

Let's get started.

Shalom and welcome to your session with me Mrs. Mulla.

Today, we'll be thinking about how we are all the same yet different.

Hmm, that sounds interesting.

Let's see how we are all the same yet different.

In today's lesson, you will need listening ears and looking eyes, a piece of paper and a pencil, and some colouring pencils or felt tips.

Pause the video, find your items and come back soon.

Our world is made up of lots of different people, all shapes and sizes, colours and races.

This is what makes it so amazing.

Have a look at all the wonderful people from our world.

Today we'll be thinking about different religions people follow in our world.

Religion! You say that word.

Great! Religion is believing in a God or gods.

People in our world follow different religions.

You may belong to a religion or not.

Everyone is different, but we are still part of the same world.

Here are some religions that people follow all over the world.

Do you recognise any of the symbols? The symbol is the little picture that shows what religion it is.

Like the cross, this shows the religion, Christianity.

This religion is Sikhism shown in the picture.

Finally, this little picture shows the religion Judaism.

Let's take a look at them a little bit more closely.

Christianity.

This is a religion followed all over the world.

People who follow Christianity are called a Christian.

The cross in the corner shows the symbol for the religion.

Christians go to pray in a Church that is their place of worship.

They follow a Holy book called a Bible, which tells them what to do and how to pray to their God.

Festivals that are celebrated in Christianity, are Christmas and Easter.

Do you celebrate these? Can you tell me something about them? Wow, that's interesting.

Let's move on.

My next religion is Judaism.

Judaism is another religion followed all over the world and the symbol in the corner that represents or shows the religion Judaism is of a candle stick, see if you can remember that.

People who follow Judaism are called a Jew.

Jews place of worship or a place to pray is a Synagogue.

You try and say that, Synagogue.

Excellent.

They follow a Holy book called a Torah, which again tells them what to do and how to pray to their God.

They celebrate a festival called Hanukkah and wear some special clothing, like a special hat on their head.

Let's move on.

Hinduism.

Hinduism is another religion followed all over the world.

Can you see the symbol for the religion Hinduism? Looks a little bit like a number three, that's right! This shows the religion Hinduism.

Hindus place of worship or place to pray is a Temple, which shows all the gods that they follow.

They follow a Holy book called a Vedas.

You say that, Vedas.

A festival they celebrate is Diwali, which is known as the festival of light.

The women wear colourful clothing called a sari.

Don't they look beautiful! Islam.

Islam is another religion, followed all over the world.

The symbol for the religion Islam, is of a moon and a star.

People who follow Islam are called Muslims. Muslims, place of worship or place to pray is a Mosque.

They follow a Holy book called the Quran.

A festival that they celebrate is Eid.

And the men wear special clothing that looks like a long cloak called a jiba.

You say that, jiba.

Excellent.

Wow, so many religions.

And there are many more after these too.

I would like to know how well you've remembered what we've learned so far.

Behind my shapes is a symbol.

I will take away each shape and I would like you to guess what religion it belongs to.

So thinking back to all the symbols we have seen for the religions, we've looked at.

Let's start.

Can you guess? Let me give you another clue.

Can you guess now? Yes, well done, Christianity.

The cross belongs to the religion Christianity, give yourself a pat on the back.

Excellent.

My next symbol.

I wonder if you could guess this one, any ideas? Think back.

What does it show? Well done! Well done to those of you that have said Islam.

The moon and the star is the symbol that represent the religion Islam.

You say that Islam.

Fantastic.

Let's move on.

Hmm, I wonder what religion hides behind my shapes here.

Can you remember what this was? It's a candle stick isn't it? What religion does it belong to? That's right, excellent! You listened well, this candlestick belongs to the religion Judaism.

Great.

Give yourself a big clap.

Today I would like your help to create a symbol that shows all the religions that we have looked at together as being part of the same world.

Maybe you'd like to do this along with me.

You will need your pencil, your note pad, and some coloured pencils.

You'll begin by picking your pencil up and drawing a big circle on to your page.

A bit like that.

Now, thinking back to the religions that we have looked at in our lesson and the symbols that show them, you're going to pick one and draw it inside your circle.

I remember the first religion to be Christianity.

And for that, it was a cross.

So I would draw a line down then across then down then across and then a big line down then across again, up and repeat on the other side.

You have a go.

That's my first symbol done.

My next one, Hmm.

Oh, I remember it was the candle stick.

Can you remember what religion it belonged to? Yes, Judaism.

I'm going to draw the stand to my candlestick and it was a round base, a bit like that.

Then my candlesticks came up.

It wasn't just one, there was lots weren't there? Up, down, across pattern.

And I'm going to join in under the pattern there.

And to make it look like a candlestick, I'm going to draw little candles with some flames inside.

You pause the video and have a go.

There we have it.

My next symbol, hmm? I remember the moon and the star.

Can you remember what religion it belonged to? Yes, Islam.

Let's have a look, big crescent moon, and then join it up.

Now this is the tricky bit to make my star, I'm going to draw point a bit, then another point a bit and a point a bit coming down, and again, finally join it up.

There's my star.

You have a go! Right now we've got three religions and the symbols to show for it.

My final one, I remember was a number three and then there was a bit a came over like this and then join top.

Can you remember what this symbol and what religion it belonged to? Yes, Hinduism.

There we have it one big world with so many religions being a part of it.

You have a go at doing that.

This is what mine looks like once it's been coloured in.

I am going to write a little caption little sentence that would remind us of all the different religions of our world.

My sentence will say, "Religion is hope" I look forward to seeing your creations.

I would like you to get creative using your paper, pencil, and coloured pencils.

I would like you to create a symbol that shows all the different religions that people follow in our world.

You could follow the steps that I took in my video or choose different symbols that represent or show different religions.

Well done.

You have learned about four main religions of our world today.

Maybe you belong to one or maybe you don't.

There are many other religions that are part of our world too.

Those are the other symbols that are represented in my picture.

We should all respect and show kindness to all people no matter what colour or religion or country they belong to.

We are part of one world.

Let's make it a nice place to stay and spread happiness.

Hi, my name is Robert and I am Jewish and my Jewish name is Judah.

When we want to say hello to one another, as a greeting, we say "Shalom," which means peace.

And I'd like to wish peace to all of you.

Have a great day.

Hi, my name is Amrita and I'm from India.

I'm Hindu to greet another person in our country, we say "Namaste." I would like to greet everyone, "Namaste" and may you have a great day ahead.

Thank you.

Hello little discoverers, My name is Uzeifa.

And I'm a very proud British Muslim.

Now in our faith, we have a special greeting that we say to one another.

So what is this special greeting? This is May peace and blessings be upon you all! I would love to see your creations from today's lesson.
