Hi, everyone.

I'm Ms. Boyd, and I'll be your music teacher today.

In this lesson, we're going to practise following and responding to musical signals.

You'll have the opportunity to experiment with different types of movement as you respond to what you hear, and you'll get a chance to practise loads of different melodic and rhythmic patterns.

But before we get started, should we begin with a hello song? ♪ Off we go, ♪ ♪ Hello, hello, it's good to see you ♪ ♪ Hello, hello, it's good to see you, ♪ ♪ I must say, you've made my day ♪ ♪ Hello, hello, hello ♪ Now to get us warmed up for today, let's sing a song about going to space.

Are you ready? When I go like this, it's my turn and when I go like that, it's your turn to join in with me.

♪ Off I go ♪ ♪ Here we go round the sun ♪ ♪ Hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm ♪ ♪ Here we go round the moon ♪ ♪ Hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm ♪ ♪ Here we go round the Milky Way ♪ ♪ Hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm ♪ ♪ Every afternoon, zoom ♪ ♪ Hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm ♪ Great job, let's try that again together.

♪ Off we go ♪ ♪ Here we go round the sun ♪ ♪ Here we go round the moon ♪ ♪ Here we go round the Milky Way ♪ ♪ Every afternoon, zoom ♪ And again.

♪ Off we go ♪ ♪ Here we go round the sun ♪ ♪ Here we go round the moon ♪ ♪ Here we go round the Milky Way ♪ ♪ Ever afternoon, zoom ♪ Okay, one more time and this time we're going to use a few more actions.

If we go around the sun, we're going to go like this to draw the sun, and if we go around the moon, we're going to go like that to draw our circle around the moon.

And if we go round the Milky way, we're going to have to use two hands 'cause the Milky Way is huge.

And when we sing zoom, I want to hear a zoom with our space rockets.

Are you ready? ♪ Off we go ♪ ♪ Here we go round the sun ♪ ♪ Here we go round the moon ♪ ♪ Here we go round Milky Way ♪ ♪ Ever afternoon, zoom ♪ ♪ Here we go around the sun ♪ ♪ Here we go round the moon ♪ ♪ Here we go round the Milky Way ♪ ♪ Every afternoon, zoom ♪ Okay, it's time for us to go on a musical journey now.

We're going to listen to a piece of music and that music is going to take us and guide us into space.

For the first time, I'd like you to close your eyes and turn your listening ears on.

In your imagination, I want you to think about what you can see on our musical journey on our way to space.

Can you see planets? Can you see stars? Can you see aliens? Let's have a listen.

Eyes closed.

Did you recognise that music? It was, that's the "Star Wars Theme" song.

Now "Star Wars" is set in space so that's perfect for us.

When you closed your eyes and turned your ears on, what did you see in your imagination? Yeah, I could see planets and stars and spaceships.

Let's have another listen, this time keep your eyes open.

And I want you to point every time you think you can see something else in your imagination as we head to space, are you ready? Whoa, there was so much there, wasn't there? What else did you see that time? Excellent, now that we're safely in space, we are going to sing a song about all of the stars that we can see.

For this song, I would love you to just sing with a really strong, loud voice.

Make sure you're listening to the tune as I sing it, and sing it as closely to the same thing that I sing.

Are you ready? ♪ Off we go ♪ ♪ Starlight, star bright ♪ ♪ First star I see tonight ♪ ♪ Wish I may, wish I might ♪ ♪ Have the wish I wished tonight ♪ Did you like that? Let's sing it again.

♪ Off we go ♪ ♪ Starlight, star bright ♪ ♪ First star I see tonight ♪ ♪ Wish I may, wish I might ♪ ♪ Have the wish I wished tonight ♪ Now we're going to to sing that one more time with some star actions, are you ready? ♪ Off we go ♪ ♪ Starlight, star bright ♪ ♪ First star I see tonight ♪ ♪ Wish I may, wish I might ♪ ♪ Have the wish I wished tonight ♪ Great singing.

Now for our next song, we're going to sing about the planets and how the planets love to orbit around the sun.

There are a lot of planets in this song so can you get your 10 fingers ready to go? Fantastic.

Are you ready? I'll have a go singing the song first, if you know it, join in, if not, have a listen this time and join me in the second round.

♪ Off we go ♪ ♪ One little, two little, three little planets ♪ ♪ Four little, five little, six little planets ♪ ♪ Seven little, eight little, nine little planets ♪ ♪ Orbiting around the sun ♪ Let's try that again.

♪ Off we go ♪ ♪ One little, two little, three little planets ♪ ♪ Four little, five little, six little planets ♪ ♪ Seven little, eight little, nine little planets ♪ ♪ Orbiting the sun ♪ ♪ One more time ♪ ♪ One little, two little, three little planets ♪ ♪ Four little, five little, six little planets ♪ ♪ Seven little, eight little, nine little planets ♪ ♪ Orbiting the sun ♪ Whoa, all of that orbiting has made me really, really tired.

We need to head back down to earth now.

So to take us there, we're going to listen to our musical journey song again.

This time, close your eyes and make sure you're really imagining what you can see.

Feel free to move around as you respond to what you can see in your imagination, especially if you can see something that surprises you.

This time, I want you to wave goodbye to all of the things you can see in your imagination.

Goodbye to the planets, goodbye to the stars, goodbye to the moon.

Are you ready? When we were singing today, you learned a lot.

You practised responding to musical signals, you experimented with different type of movement as we responded to what we heard, and you practised a variety of melodic and rhythmic patterns, well done.

But before we go, we have to say goodbye properly with our goodbye song.

Are you ready? ♪ Off we go ♪ ♪ Goodbye, goodbye ♪ ♪ It's time to go now ♪ ♪ Goodbye, goodbye ♪ ♪ It's time to go now ♪ ♪ I must say, you've made my day ♪ ♪ Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye ♪ If you'd like to share some of the music we've made together today, feel free to ask your parent or carer to share your work on social media.
