Welcome to your sixth lesson of this unit.

With me Miss Brittain.

In today's lesson we will box up our discussion.

Which means planning our ideas.

First we will start with a nursery rhyme, then we will box up the discussion and then we will retell the discussion using box up plan.

For this exersing unit, you need an exercise book, or a piece of a paper.

your super memory.

And your teddy talk partner.

You can pause a video and ask whatever you need and then press play once you return.

Before we begin Cedric I'd like to do a miming game.

A mime is where you act something up, but you don't say anything.

I thought us could have a go at miming, some of the advantages and disadvantages from our discussion.

Are you ready? I will go first and then you can go after me.

I will give you a clue.

This is a disadvantage.

Which disadvantage am I miming Cedric.

yes, that is dangerous because of big scary wolves.

Well done Cedric.

Your turn, okay so Cedric is saying he is going to do an advantage.

Reason that she should go to the forest alone.

Oh he says will you cover my mouth please? Oh, I think Cedric is coughing am I right Cedric? So your reason must be that grandma is sick.

Yes, see if you can have a go at miming different parts, of the discussion with your teddy talk partner.

Now lets have a go at singing, our version of the Hockey Cokey.

♪ You've got your advantages ♪ ♪ and your disadvantages ♪ ♪ Advantages and disadvantages ♪ ♪ You think it all about ♪ ♪ You do the discussion and we work it out ♪ ♪ That's what it's all about.

♪ ♪ Whoa the discussion ♪ ♪ whoa the discussion ♪ ♪ Whoa the discussion ♪ ♪ That's what it's all about.

♪ You could practise this a little bit more, you could even stand up and see if you can put some different actions to it.

Now lets box up our discussion, so we can clearly see the structure of our writing.

What comes first, what comes next and so on.

Okay so we are going to box up our discussion.

Now you might want to wright a long with me, or you might want to pause at any point and copy up.

And that's fine.

You might need to get an adult, guardian or parent to help you draw your box.

So my box needs two columns and it needs four rows.

Four rows and it doesn't have to be really really neat.

Don't worry about that.

And I want to label my rows one, two, three and four.

And that helps me to see.

The clear sections in my discussion.

Now my discussion has an introduction, advantages, disadvantages and conclusion.

So am going to label my four rows, with letters that make me remember that , odd symbols.

So I have got introduction, plus the advantage, minus the disadvantages and conclusion.

But what happens in my introduction? Well, lets up over an issues.

And he comes to talk to people about whether, or not his sister should go in to the woods.

So am going to draw a mouth with a speech bubble.

Am here to talk about whether or not our little sister, should go into the woods alone.

So am going to draw a Little Red Riding Hood and a tree.

And that helps me remember.

What happens in my introduction.

My advantages then, can you tell your screen.

The advantages why she should go into the forest alone.

Huh! Great remembering.

There was a fact that grandma was sick.

that's the first.

So I have written a little symbol first.

Grandma is sick and she needs help.

And a thermometer, to check the temperature.

Second, was that everybody else was busy.

Mom was busy doing house work, and little blue running shoe who is busy running.

So am just going to draw two little pictures, that help me remember that.

And the third, she was old enough to go alone now.

So that's the picture I have drawn, to help me remember that bit.

If you want to pause a video now and have a go at doing the box plan for the disadvantages, that would be great.

If you are not feeling confident enough.

You can always carry on writing along with me.

Okay, so lets have a think about our disadvantages.

Great work if you've managed to give it a go.

And you can check it with mine now.

The first disadvantage was of course, big bad scary wolves and it was dangerous.

So am going to draw a wolf.

What was the second disadvantage, huh! great work everybody she was tired.

So am going to draw a yawning face.

And some snores.

And the third disadvantage, shout at your screen.

Great work everyone.

She might get lost.

So a going to draw lots of arrows in different directions and going to question that she doesn't know where she is.

And then the final box, conclusion.

So what did she decide? Can you tell your teddy talk partner, what little blue running shoes decided from the discussion.

Can you have a go at drawing it in the conclusion box? Pause the video now if you would like to.

Great work if you gave that a go.

Of course he decided that Little Red Ridding Hood, should help grandma if she was sick.

But, and am going to put but there.

She should go with a wood cutter to keep her safe.

If you have not managed to complete the box plan.

You can pause the video now and copy up mine.

Feel free to rewind to wherever you need to.

If you've managed to do that some of that on your own.

Great work! Now we will use the box up plan to retell the discussion.

So, I can see here the first section is an introduction.

And any introduction I tell my audience.

Am going to be writing about and discussing Little Red Riding Hood and whether she should go to the forest alone.

The advantages, the reason she should go, into the forest alone, is first, grandma is sick and someone needs too look after her.

Second everybody was busy cooking and cleaning, or running and Little Red Riding Hood wasn't.

And third mom says she is old enough now to go alone.

The disadvantages, can you retell the disadvantages, with your teddy talk partner.

Pause the video now, and have a go and don't forget to use, first, second, third have a go now.

Huh! Great work if you had a go, at retelling the disadvantages everybody, am really proud.

So I'll retell it now, just in case you didn't get to have chance.

On the other hand, I love that, on the other hand, means however it means, somebody saying something different is on the other hand, to introduce the difference.

On the other hand, sisters first is too dangerous 'cause of wolves.

Second she is too tired.

And third she might get lost.

And the conclusion, I think what did little blue running shoes think.

Brilliant! She should go to grandma's, but she should take a wood cutter with her to be safe.

Oh great work, boxing up our ideas today and retelling our discussion using our box up plan.

You might want to after this lesson.

Keep going over your box up plan, to make sure you know what the pictures mean.

And make sure you can retell the different parts.

Am very proud of you so far in this unit everybody and we are ready I think for writing, in the next couple of lessons.

So lets give ourselves a shoulder pat for encouragement.

Great work everyone and we will see you in the next lesson.
