Hi, team.

And welcome to another lesson with me, Mrs Garrard.

I'm so excited to see you today.

Today our lesson is to create a spring collage.

Let me share my screen with you and we'll see what we need to do first.

So to create our spring collage, first we'll need to go on a walk to collect some resources.

You could walk by the river or in a park.

Or maybe, if you can't do that, you could collect some spring resources in your garden.

Next we're going to create our collage and then you'll get to share your creation, maybe with your family at home, or maybe with a friend.

For this lesson you will need your listening ears and your looking eyes.

You'll need paper and glue, and you'll need some found spring objects.

So let's think about what you can collect on your walk.

You can collect things like green leaves, daisies, blossom, buttercup, grass, dandelion clocks, and other things that you see growing in spring.

We'll have to remember that we can't pick from people's gardens.

We can't pick people's flowers.

You can pick things in the grass, along the roadside, but not in people's gardens.

And you have to ask permission if you're going to pick things from your garden.

Pause the video and gather your resources.

Go for your walk.

Have a look in the garden.

Come back when you're ready.

Now, it's time for us to create our spring collage.

Now you've got all of your resources that you've gathered, let's see what we can make with them.

So I've got a piece of blue paper today, and as you can see, I have a little pile of things that I have found on my spring walk.

I've got a feather.

I'm going to start my picture with the feather and putting a line of glue to stick my feather in place.

I have a long feather, and then I have some smaller ones.

You can't see them at the moment.

I think they're at the bottom of the pile of resources.

There's one of my feathers.

I wonder what bird that came from.

I can see that it's grey or black.

Maybe it came from a pigeon.

Can you see, there are two smaller feathers that I found? Hm, I wonder what I'm making in my collage? Keep watching, you might be able to guess.

I'm going to add some more glue.

I'm using a paint brush to spread the glue out.

This time I've got some green leaves.

These are bracken.

They've got a nice shape.

Now I'm putting some glue little dots on top of the bracken.

And I'm adding some buttercups.

Beautiful yellow buttercups.

Some glue on the other side.

I wonder if you can guess what I'm making yet.

It's a bit tricky to see just yet.

Another piece of bracken.

And some more buttercups.

Adding some more glue.

And this time I'm going to use some green leaves.

They're a little bit tricky to stick so I'm having to hold them in place for a moment.

See how I'm having to hold them in place for a little while 'cause they're tricky to stick down? You see how I've used different sized leaves? The bigger ones are at the bottom.

And as I get nearer to the top, I'm using smaller leaves.

And they're slightly different shades of green.

Darker ones at the bottom.

And as they get to the top, they're a little bit lighter.

These are some little flowers that I found in the grass.

Can you see what I've made yet? My spring collage is of a butterfly.

Can you tell that it's a butterfly? Mm, it's a bit tricky to tell, especially when it's upside down.

Two more buttercups to finish it off.

Let's show you a picture of my butterfly.

There we go, I turned it around.

But let's show you a picture of my butterfly.

There we go.

Can you see? Have a look.

What do you notice about the wings of the butterfly? Have a think for a moment.

Tell the screen one thing you notice.

Team, I notice that the wings of the butterfly are symmetrical.

My turn, symmetrical.

Your turn.

Symmetrical means the same on both sides.

So can you see right at the bottom, I have three buttercups on one side and three buttercups on the other side.

And at the top, I have one buttercup at the top.

And then one on the other side.

My butterfly is symmetrical.

I wonder if you can name some things that you can see on your walk in spring.

I saw lots of blossom growing on trees, and I saw that the trees had leaves and some trees had buds on where they were about to start to grow fruits.

I see that it's very green in the springtime.

You can see dandelions and daffodils growing.

I wonder if you can name some things that you see on your walk in springtime.

Team, I made a butterfly for my spring collage, but you don't need to do the same.

You could use your imagination and make something else that reminds you of spring.

I chose a butterfly because that reminds me of spring.

But you could choose something that reminds you of spring.

Team, that's the end of our lesson today.

As always, if you would like to share with Oak National, you can ask a parent or a carer to share your work on Instagram, or Facebook, or Twitter, tagging @OakNational and #LearnwithOak.

It's been lovely to do this spring lesson with you today.

And I really enjoyed gathering my spring resources and making my butterfly.

And I hope that you enjoy making your spring collage too.

See you again soon, bye.
