Hello everyone! It's Miss Doherty.

In this lesson you will need en exercise book or some paper, your pencil, and your brain.

You can pause the video now while you go and get these things.

In today's lesson, we're going to start by singing a nursery rhyme.

Then, we will think about our role-play activity and after that, you will complete a writing task.

Incy wincy spider climbed up the water spout.

Down came the rain and washed the spider out.

Out came the sunshine and dried up all the rain.

So incy wincy spider climbed up the spout again.

Now we've sung incy wincy spider, I'm going to think about what incy wincy spider, Now that I've sung incy wincy spider, I'm going to think about what incy wincy spider may look like.

Hmm.

I think she will be round, and I know if she's a spider, she will have 8 legs, and I think they will be skinny.

I'm going to draw a picture of incy wincy spider.

It didn't take me long, and I haven't coloured it in yet.

My incy wincy spider has two eyes, and she looks friendly.

My incy wincy spider has a round body, which I think would be soft.

My incy wincy spider has long eyelashes.

My incy wincy spider has long, skinny legs.

Can you tell the screen what your incy wincy spider looks like? If you were in lesson 5, you might remember that we did some role play, and we pretended to make a phone call home to our moms to tell her all about our day as the gingerbread man.

We were trying to describe what had happened using all 5 of our senses.

We were thinking about what we had seen, what we had tasted, what we had heard, what we had touched, and what we had smelled.

I'm going to describe one of the characters from the gingerbread man to you.

I'm going to give you 3 clues to try to work out who I'm talking about.

I would like you to try and work it out, and either write down a 1, 2, or 3 to show me how many clues it took for you to work it out.

Your first clue is, this animal has 4 legs and 4 paws at the end of those legs.

That's your first clue.

If you think you know what the animal is, you could write it down, or draw a picture now.

Your second clue is, this animal has whiskers.

If you think you know what the animal is now, you can write it down or draw a quick picture.

Your third clue is that the name of this animal starts with a CK-CK-CK.

If you think you know what the animal is, you can write it down or draw a quick picture.

Now the animal I have described has 4 legs with 4 paws attached to them, whiskers, and the name of the animal starts with CK-CK-CK.

That's right! It's a C-A-T, cat! Super.

When we describe something, we can describe what it looks like, what it feels like, we can also give clues about what it's called.

I'm going to draw my picture of a cat.

I'm going to draw a round head, with 2 pointy ears, and I'm going to make some of the fur on her head stand up.

I'm going to do 2 small, round eyes, and then I'm going to draw her nose and I think her nose would be really shiny.

Now I'm going to draw on her whiskers.

There they are.

Now, I need to move them to her body.

I'm going to make her body quite round, then I'm going to draw on her paws.

Maybe she's lying on her back, ready to have her tummy tickled.

I feel like I've forgotten something.

Oh yes, a tail.

There's her tail, and I'm going to give my cat socks.

Say her paws are going to be different colours to her legs.

Now, I'm going to label my drawing and I'm going to start by writing the word cat.

Say the word, cat.

Robot the word, C-A-T.

Write the word, cat.

Now, I'm going to label her body.

Do you think she is a skinny cat, or do you think she is a fat cat? I think she is a fat cat.

So, I'm going to write the word fat.

Say the word, fat.

Robot the word, F-A-T.

Write the word, fat.

Cat, fat, fat, cat.

They rhyme.

I'm going to add one more label to my drawing.

I'm going to label her socks.

Say the word, socks.

Robot the word S-O-C-K-S.

Write the word, socks.

Socks.

Now that you have seen me label my picture, I would like you to pause the video and draw a picture of one of the characters and add your own labels.

You might choose to draw the cat as well.

You might choose to use some of the labels you have watched me use.

If you find writing one-word labels quite easy, you might want to use a number of words together, or even write a sentence.
