Hello everyone, and welcome back to another lesson with me, Miss Sidenius.

Today, I'm super excited because we're learning all about one of my favourite seasons, autumn time.

We're going to have a look at some of the colours that you see in autumn time.

And we're even going to create some autumn art.

We're going to start today's lesson by thinking about the different colours that we see in autumn time.

Then we're going to have a go at mixing some colours to see if we can create some of those autumn colours ourselves.

We're going to use those colours to make an autumn leaf painting.

And finally, we're going to share our painting with somebody in our household, a teddy or a toy.

So for this lesson you're going to need three things.

Some paper, some paint, and some leaves.

Pause the video here, make sure you've got those three things and come back when you're ready.

Great job, so we've got all of our things and we're ready to start thinking about some of the colours that you see in autumn time.

Now, autumn is one of the four seasons in the year.

We've got spring at the beginning of the year, summer when it starts to get a bit warmer and hot weather and we have lots of hot weather.

Then it's autumn time, that's right.

In the autumn time, it starts to get colder again, and what happens to the trees? Use the picture on the screen to help you.

Tell your screen.

That's right, in the autumn time, the leaves turn from green to orange and red and brown and yellow, and they start to fall off the trees so that the trees look like they haven't got any leaves anymore.

You'll see leaves all over the ground making the pavements look really colourful in autumn time.

And you might even see some orange pumpkins or some brown conkers on the ground when you're walking along in autumn time.

So we know that in autumn time we see lots of reds, yellows, oranges and browns.

So those are the colours that we're going to have a go at making today.

Now, I've got some different paints that I'm going to try and mix together to create orange or brown.

I've already got yellow and red so I don't need to make those ones.

First I'm going to have a go at mixing blue and yellow.

Let's see what colour that makes.

Hmm.

Is it making orange or brown? No, it doesn't look like it, does it? It's making a green colour.

Hmm, that's not the autumn colour we were looking for.

I think I'll have to try mixing something else.

What else could I mix together to make orange? Hmm.

Have you got an idea? Tell your screen.

Wow, good idea, I'm going to have a go at mixing red and yellow to make some orange.

So I've got my red paint and my yellow paint, and I've cleaned my paintbrush, I'm going to mix it together.

Let's see.

Ooo, it is changing colour.

I think I just need a little bit more yellow.

Let's see.

Red and yellow makes.

Orange.

So if we mix the red and the yellow together it makes orange.

We did it, we've got our autumn colour.

Now, I found it really tricky to make a brown colour.

I think you need to mix red, yellow and blue.

Pause the video here, see if you can make a brown colour and an orange colour, and come back when you're finished.

Great job, I hope you were able to make the right colours for your autumn painting.

So now I'm going to show you what we're going to do with our leaves.

I've got my paintbrush and I've got some yellow paint, and I'm painting really carefully on my leaf.

I'm not putting too much paint on 'cause, otherwise, it won't print very well and the paint will take a long time to dry.

And I'm being really careful so that I don't get any of the paint on my paper.

It might be a good idea to do this part separate from your paper so you don't get any of your paint on it.

Now I'm ready to print.

I'm just going around the edges, and you'll see why in a minute.

Then I'm ready to turn my leaf over and push it down on the paper.

And look, when I lift it up, it's left a print just like the leaf that I painted.

Hmm, so we're going to end up with lots of different autumn leaves.

This time, I'm using an orange colour, and I've picked up my leaf off the paper so that I won't get any paint on the paper yet.

I'm going to make sure my orange goes all the way to the edges, because when you press it down on the paper, you want to see all of the outline of the leaf.

So I'm making sure my paint goes all the way round.

And again, I'm not putting loads of paint on my leaf otherwise my leaf will go really soggy and it won't work.

But there you go, it looks a bit like an autumn leaf now.

So turn it over again and press down on that leaf.

Let's see what shape this one is going to make.

Do you think it'll be the same? No, you're right, it's a different leaf, it's going to look different this time.

Lift it up.

Wow, look at that.

Really nice.

So I've got my yellow, I've got my orange, but what other autumn colours do we have? That's right, red.

I'm going to do a red leaf as well.

And this one is even bigger.

So this is going to be the biggest leaf on my page.

Might take a little bit longer to paint this one because it's so big.

All the way to the edges again of my leaf.

And on that side over there.

Really want to make sure that I get all of it covered in paint so that it will show up on my page.

Now when I finish painting this one, I put my paintbrush in the water so that when I get a new colour it doesn't mix my paints together again.

That's why they all look really clear.

My yellow, my orange and my red, because I haven't mixed any of my paints together.

Onto my last bit now.

Oo look see, I got a bit of yellow on that one.

Oh, but I could have an orange and a red leaf.

Because actually, autumn leaves can be both colours.

They can have red and yellow or red and orange mixed together.

Let's see what this looks like.

Remember to press it down really hard, make sure that you go to all of the edges of your leaf and press them down.

Let's peel it off, wow.

That's a really big red and orange one.

Great, so now you know what to do, pause the video here, do your leaf prints and come back when you're finished.

Well done everyone, I bet your prints are looking so beautiful on your page.

How many leaves did you manage to fit on your page? Did you have any that were on top of each other so it looked like they were falling from the sky? Really well done.

Now, before you go, I wonder if you can help me? How do we know when it is autumn time? Have a look at the picture on the screen to help you.

Tell your screen.

That's right, we know when it's autumn time because the leaves change colour, they turn from green to red, orange, yellow and brown, just like the leaves in your print picture.

And they all start to fall off the trees so you can kick them up when you're walking along the pavement.

Well done everyone for a really fun lesson today.

I hope you enjoyed doing your leaf printing as much as I did, see you next time, bye.
