Hi team, and welcome to today's lesson with me, Mrs. Garrard.

Now in today's lesson, we're going to be looking at the key features of a classroom.

That means things that we often find in a classroom.

Because right now, lots of us are getting ready to move into a different classroom.

Maybe you're even getting ready to start school for the first time.

So let's think about what we might find in a classroom.

So the first thing we're going to do today is gather some resources, then we're going to think about the features of a classroom, and then we're going to create our very own shoebox classroom.

Your classroom might include things that you normally get in a classroom, but you could also make your dream classroom.

So things that you would really, really like to find in your classroom, but will probably not be there.

So for your lesson today, you will need a large box.

I'm using a shoebox.

You'll need some paper, some scissors.

And remember when we're using scissors, we need adult supervision to make sure that we're using them safely.

We'll need some pencils or crayons, and you might need a magazine or a catalogue.

I didn't use one.

I drew things in my classroom, but you might want to cut out some pictures of favourite toys.

Pause your video here and go and find all of the things that you'll need to create your very own classroom.

Come back and press play once you're ready.

Great, now that you've got everything you need, we can think about features of a classroom, things that you might find in a classroom.

So I know that a teacher is always in a classroom.

So you might decide to draw a picture of a teacher and put a teacher in your classroom.

Quite often, classrooms have teaching assistants or other adults that are there to help the students learn.

And there are always pupils, lots of children in a classroom.

So maybe when you make your shoebox classroom, you could draw children and a teacher and a teaching assistant to put in your classroom.

A classroom also has tables, desks, and chairs, and quite often it has a whiteboard.

My classroom has a whiteboard.

These are pictures of my classroom.

My classroom has a book corner, an art area, a construction area, and a sand and water area.

Do you have those in your classroom? Tell the screen if you do.

What's your favourite area in your classroom, or what would you like to see in your new classroom? Tell the screen.

Wow, so many amazing things that you'd like to see in your new classrooms. I wonder what would be in your dream classroom? Maybe you'd really like to see a bouncy castle so that when you've got lots and lots of energy, you could go to the bouncy castle and do lots of bouncing and jumping.

That would be a really great thing to have in a classroom.

Maybe you'd really like a pet dinosaur in your classroom.

That would be interesting, wouldn't it, having a pet dinosaur.

Or maybe you'd like to choose another pet, maybe a guinea pig or a rabbit to take care of and to sit with when you're feeling sad, maybe you'd like to sit and stroke a rabbit.

That would be a nice thing to have in a classroom.

What about a ball pool? Maybe your dream classroom would have a ball pool for you to swim around in.

I'm not sure, I bet you've got lots of great ideas about what you could include in your dream classroom.

I think in my dream classroom, I would have a really big coffee machine so that I could always have a hot cup of coffee when I wanted one.

That's something that I would include in my dream classroom.

Team, now it's time for you to grab your box, put your thinking caps on, and think of some amazing things to include in your classroom.

Don't forget that you'll need to add some pupils and a teacher, but what else will you add? I'm looking forward to finding out.

I'm going to share with you my classroom.

This is my shoebox classroom.

Do you see I've got a carpet at the front? It's a semicircle, and it has spots on for the children to sit on.

I made that from paper.

I chosen blue paper and cut a semicircle really carefully, and then I cut out some circles to make the spots for the children to sit on.

That's just like the carpet in my classroom.

And the carpet is positioned in front of the whiteboard.

I made the whiteboard from a piece of card, and I just stuck some white paper on top of it to make it look like a whiteboard.

I've also added a shelf in my classroom with toys on.

Some of the favourite toys of the children in my class are building bricks.

They love to do building.

They love to play with their cars.

And also there's a doll's house cause that's one of their favourite toys too, so I included a doll's house.

I've added a circle for a table, that's my snack table.

Can you see, I've got snack written on the wall, and there's a picture of a strawberry and an apple that I drew and coloured in with coloured pens.

And finally, my classroom has got a book corner.

It has another carpet.

This time, it's a light green carpet that I cut out of paper.

And it has books on the shelf.

I drew some books on the shelf.

Team, if you'd like to share your shoe box classroom with me, you could do that by sharing your work with Oak National.

To do that, you'll have to ask your parent or your carer to share your work on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter, tagging @OakNational and the #LearnwithOak.

And then I will get to see all your amazing creations.

Team, that's the end of your lesson today, and it's time for me to say goodbye.

I hope you enjoy making your shoebox classroom as much as I did.

Bye team.
