Hello, I'm Adam and this is Panda.

And this unit is called Bat Learns to Dance.

Here's the agenda.

We're going to start off today with a word game, and I want to see how good you are at guessing the clues of the animals that are going to be in today's story.

And the next thing, the main thing, I'm going to be telling you a new story that you can join in with.

All you'll need for this session is a piece of paper and something to draw with.

Okay, let's move on to the warmup.

Hello, Panda and I down here for the warmup today.

We've got a blue screen and we're going to put pictures on.

If you'll guess these animals right, here we go.

The first animal to appear, here are the clues.

We're thinking of an animal, it's black, has wings and hangs upside down in a cave.

It's a bat! There's a bat in this story.

We're thinking of an animal.

This animal is red with black spots.

It can fly.

It's a ladybird.

We're thinking of an animal, this animal is furry with long ears and big feet and likes to hop about.

It's a rabbit.

Well done, last one.

This animal wiggles, likes to soil the earth and it's very, very long.

It's a worm.

I think we might be ready for the story.

Are you ready for our story? Here we go.

This is the story called Bat Learns to Dance.

It's story time, it's story time.

Look, listen, learn.

Once upon a time in a deep, dark cave, a cold little bat, shivered, brrr! Like that.

She dropped from her sleeping place, way up high and landed silently on the ground.

I'm so cold, said the bat.

I wonder if I could find a friend, someone who could help me get warm.

She shivered and she shook and she stepped out of the cave to have a look.

Crunch went her feet on the cold frosty ground.

And then to her surprise, a friend she found.

She was red with black spots and lying on a leaf.

Do you know who she was? Ladybird, ladybird! Called the bat, I'm feeling cold, could you help with that? Well, says the ladybird, when I feel cold, I flap my wings like this.

She went, ♪ Flap flap flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ Flap flap flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ I flap around like this ♪ Ooh, could I try that too? Said the bat.

Could you try it too? The bat went, ♪ Flap flap flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ Flap flap flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ I flap around like this ♪ Thank you, said the bat.

That was really kind.

Crunch went her feet on the cold frosty ground.

And then to her surprise, a friend she found.

He was bigger and furrier with big ears and long feet.

Do you know who it was? It was the rabbit.

Rabbit, rabbit! Called the bat.

I was feeling cold, could you help with that? Oh well, said the rabbit, when I feel cold, I hop around like this.

He showed her, he went ♪ Hop hop hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ Hop hop hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ I hop around like this.

♪ Join in, said the rabbit.

And so of the bat did.

Can you join in too? ♪ Hop hop hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ Hop hop hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ I hop around like this ♪ Wow! Said the bat.

I know two ways now to keep warm.

Crunch went feet on the cold frosty ground.

And then to her surprise, another friend she found.

She was long, very long and she popped out from the ground.

Do you know who she was? Worm, worm! Called the bat.

I was feeling cold, could you help with that? Well, says the worm, when I feel cold, I wiggle around like this.

♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ I wiggle around like this ♪ Join in, said the worm.

And so bat started to dance.

Can you join in? ♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ I wiggle around like this ♪ Ah, thank you! Says the bat.

That was kind.

Now I know three ways to keep warm.

So feeling happy, the little bat walked all the way back to her cave.

And when she got there, there was her mom.

And the little bat said, mom, I was feeling so cold but now I know three ways to keep warm.

Can I show you? And the little bat showed her dance.

Will you join in? Mom, I can go.

♪ Flap flap flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ Flap flap flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ I can flap around like this ♪ ♪ I can go hop hop hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ Hop hop hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ I can hop around like this.

♪ ♪ I can go wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ I can wiggle around like this ♪ And the little bat felt so warm.

She flew up to her hanging place and hung upside down, feeling toasty warm and she fell to sleep.

How was that? Did you enjoy this story? I wonder if you had any favourite moments of that story? Panda, did you enjoy that story? What was your favourite moment? Panda's favourite moment was when the little bat was wiggling.

Could you draw your favourite moment? I'm going to pause the video now.

And in that time, think what was your favourite dance? Maybe you can draw the bat dancing with that animal.

And after you've drawn your favourite moment of that story, come back, we'll move on to the next bit of the lesson.

Have you finished? I hope so, you can always have some more time later.

I wonder what your favourite moments were.

I wonder if it was dancing with the worm, or dancing with the rabbit.

Well, you can always show us your work here at the Oak Academy.

Ask your parents and carers, and they will show you how that can be done.

We love seeing your work.

We've talked before, about why stories have to have certain things.

And memorable moments are very important.

Stories must have things that excite us, and we think that that story does.

And we also think that stories perhaps have learnings in them, at least they make us think about things.

So what did we learn in that story? Did we learn that rabbits can hop? Yeah.

Did we learn that ladybirds can flap? Panda says, can she show you her favourite moment of the story? I think there might be some learning in this.

This is Panda's favourite moments, I think it's my favourite moment too.

When the little bats gets home to the cave and there is mommy.

And the little bats is warm and the little bat tells her story about all the helpful animals that helped her get warm.

And maybe, maybe that's what we learn in this story.

The people can be kind if we ask for help.

I think there's one more thing we need to do.

Well this story it's called Bat Learns to Dance.

So we might as well learn the actions to the dance.

The first animal was the ladybird.

Would you stand up and find yourself in a little bit of space? We haven't done a lot of movement in this session, so we're going to end with movement today.

The lady bird flapped, she went.

♪ Flap flap flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ Flap flap flap ♪ ♪ Flappity flap ♪ ♪ She flapped around like this ♪ Rabbit, long ears.

DO you remember what rabbit did? ♪ Hop hop hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ Hop hop hop ♪ ♪ Hoppity hop ♪ ♪ He hopped around like this ♪ Good action words, flapping and hopping.

And a really good action word is the worm one, wiggle.

The worm went, ♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ Wiggle wiggle wiggle ♪ ♪ He wiggled around like this ♪ I hope you enjoyed the dancing.

It's okay though, if you just chose to watch.

What did we do today? The first thing that we did is that we played a game.

Panda and I gave you clues and you had to guess the animal.

After that, I told you the story of Bat Learns to Dance.

Then you drew a picture of your favourite moment in the story.

And after that, we talked about favourite moments and how important they were.

And Panda showed you her favourite moments.

And we thought, stories have learnings in them.

And maybe the learning in that story is that when you ask for help, people can be kind.

And that's nice to think of.

My challenge to you is to show your picture to somebody and tell them about that bit in the story.

In the next lesson, we're going to learn how to sing that story.

Bye-bye!.
