Hello everybody, my name is Miss Doherty.

I'm feeling really happy today.

Pardon? Oh, it's my Teddy talk partner.

He just asked me why I'm feeling happy.

Well, I am feeling really happy because I had a yummy breakfast.

Why? Well, I had a yummy breakfast because I was hungry.

Why again? What a curious Teddy talk partner I have.

Well, I was feeling hungry because I used lots of energy by dreaming last night about a naughty fox.

How are you feeling today? Can you tell your screen? In our lesson today, you're going to need your Teddy talk partner, your listening ears and of course, your brain.

You can pause the video now to go and get them.

We are going to start off our lesson today by singing a nursery rhyme.

Then we're going to listen to, and maybe even join in with a story.

And after that, we will reflect on the story, that means we'll have a think about the story.

Now our nursery rhyme is going to be joined in with by our Teddy talk partners.

Now my Teddy talk partner is actually a giraffe toy.

And we're going to be singing a song that is a little bit about clapping hands.

So it doesn't really work for a giraffe because giraffes don't have hands, but he's going to try anyway.

♪ If you're happy and you know it clap your hands ♪ ♪ If you're happy and you know it clap your hands ♪ ♪ If you're happy and you know it ♪ ♪ And you really want to show it ♪ ♪ If you're happy and you know it clap your hands ♪ Now if you didn't join in that time with your Teddy talk partner, can we try again altogether? ♪ If you're happy and you know it clap your hands ♪ ♪ If you're happy and you know it clap your hands ♪ ♪ If you're happy and you know it ♪ ♪ And you really want to show it ♪ ♪ If you're happy and you know it clap your hands ♪ I really enjoyed that nursery rhyme.

Now you're going to listen to the story, and maybe you'll be able to join in.

Once upon a time, there was a little old lady and a little old man who lived together in a house.

One day, the little old lady said, all right, I'm going to bake gingerbread man! She mixed and pressed and put the dough in the oven.

She opened the door, and out jumped the gingerbread man.

Stop! Said the little old lady.

Run, run as fast as you can.

You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man.

The old man can't catch me and you can't catch me.

He ran and he ran until he came to a cat.

Stop! Said the cat.

Run, run as fast as you can.

You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man.

The old man can't catch me.

The old lady can't catch me and you can't catch me.

He ran and he ran until he came to a dog.

Run as fast as you can.

You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man.

The old man can't catch me.

The old lady can't catch me.

The cats can't catch me and you can't catch me.

He ran and he ran until he came to a cow.

Moo! Run, run as fast as you can.

You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man.

The old man can't catch me.

The old lady can't catch me.

The cat can't catch me, the dog can't catch me and you can't catch me.

He ran and he ran until he came to a river and a fox.

Jump on my tail, said the fox, and I'll carry you over the river.

The gingerbread man jumped onto his tail.

Jump on my back, said the fox, I'm sinking in the water.

And so the gingerbread man jumped onto his back.

Jump on to my head, said the fox, I'm sinking in the water.

And the gingerbread man jumped onto his head.

Jump onto my nose, said the fox, I'm sinking in the water.

And the gingerbread man jumped onto his nose.

The fox shook his nose and the gingerbread man flew up into the air and down into the fox's mouth.

And that was the end.

Now we're going to think a little bit about what happened in the story.

I've got a question on the screen that I'm going to read to you.

What animal did the gingerbread man come to first? Was it the dog, the cat or the fox? You can pause the video while you answer the question.

Now if we think back to the chant of the gingerbread man as he's running, hmm, what order does it go in? He says, the old man can't catch me.

The old woman can't catch me, what animal came first? The cat can't catch me.

Well done if you got that right, it was the cat.

The next task I'd like you to do is have a think about your favourite part of the story.

I'm going to share my favourite part of the story with my Teddy talk partner.

So I'm going to turn to my Teddy talk partner and say, my favourite part of the story was when the fox gobbled up the gingerbread man.

I found it quite funny.

Now can you have a think about when your favourite part of the story was? Remember to use a full sentence.

My favourite part of the story is when, you can pause the video now and resume once you're finished.

What was your favourite part of the story? Maybe it was when the gingerbread man jumped out of the oven.

Or maybe it was when the fox said to the gingerbread man, hop onto my head and then onto my nose.

Or maybe it was when the cow went, moo! Now we have just had a think about what our favourite part of the story was.

I wonder what your favourite part of today's lesson was.

I think my favourite part of today's lesson was when, let me think very carefully.

My favourite part of today's lesson was when I had to answer lots of why questions right at the beginning, because my Teddy talk partner was asking me lots of why questions.

Can you tell the screen what your favourite part of today's lesson was? In our next lesson, I'm going to help you to become a storyteller so that you can tell the story too.

Now I've got some things that you might like to do before I see you again in our next lesson.

Can you have a go at making your own gingerbread person? I hope they don't run away.

Can you count how many cats or dogs or foxes you see when you're out for a walk? And the last one is, maybe when you were out for a walk, can you run as fast as the gingerbread man? I hope you enjoyed today and I will see you for our next lesson soon.
