Hello everybody, My name's Miss.

Hughes.

What's your name? Today, I've come to a very beautiful building, can you see the stained glass windows? Aren't they pretty? This is a religious building, and it's a religious building that some Christians come to.

I wonder if you know what it's called, tell your screen if you do.

I'm in a church, and I come here to learn about the Christian celebration Easter.

And you can join me, we're going to learn about it by listening to the story of Easter.

There's going to be three lessons on Easter, the first with me, the second with Miss Sidenius and the third with Mrs Garrard.

In this lesson, we'll learn about Christianity, the religion behind Easter, the Easter story, we'll think of how Easter is celebrated, and we'll draw a story map to remember the reasons why people celebrate Easter.

You're going to need your brain, which is already in your head, Some paper, split into six boxes and a pencil.

Make sure you're in a quiet, comfy space.

Pause the video, and we start when you're ready.

Great! Lets learn about the religion behind Easter, it's called Christianity.

Some people have a religion.

A religion is when, someone worships a super human power, that might be one God or lots of gods or something else.

Here are some symbols of just some of the many religions in the world.

If you have a religion, tell the screen what it is.

Some of you do, and some of you don't, we all worship different things.

Now, the religion we're learning about today is called Christianity, my turn, Christianity your turn And Christians worship one God, there is one God.

Christians sometimes go to a religious building called a church to worship.

Here's a picture of a church with beautiful stained glass windows, just like the ones behind me.

And Christians read from a special book called the Bible.

My turn, the Bible, your turn, And the Bible is split into two parts, the Old Testament before Jesus Christ was born, and the New Testament after Jesus Christ was born.

But who is Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is a very important person in the Christian religion.

Many people believe that he was the son of God and the incarnation the embodiment of God.

When Jesus Christ was alive, he was very special and had lots of followers who believed he was very important, and could perform miracles.

There are no photos of Jesus Christ because he lived over 2000 years ago when cameras weren't invented, but lots of churches and cities have put up status to recognise him.

Here is a statue of Jesus Christ.

Now Christian celebrate Easter because they believe it was the time that Jesus was resurrected, He came back to life after being killed.

The whole Easter story takes place over a few days, recognising that Jesus was killed on a cross, but then came back to life, He was resurrected.

So let's listen to the Easter story, tell you in a little bit more about it.

Jesus Christ was a very special man who many people believed could perform miracles.

And it made some really important people very jealous.

They wanted to kill Jesus.

Jesus Christ travelled to Jerusalem and had a last supper with 12 of his special friends.

They were called his disciples, my turn disciples, your turn, He had the last supper with his 12 friends.

But one of Jesus' special friends, one of his disciples, Judas, hadn't been a very good friend.

He had betrayed Jesus, by telling the important people where Jesus was.

His name was Judas and Judas betrayed Jesus.

Jesus, was arrested and killed on a very heavy cross.

Lots of people were very sad that Jesus had been killed.

And they placed his body in a special tomb, and guarded it with a big rock.

But when his friends visited, the big rock had moved, and inside was an angel who told them that Jesus had come back to life.

Jesus visited his friends, and went up to heaven, a place in the sky, where God was believed to look after him.

Now, people celebrate Easter because it represents the resurrection of Jesus, the time that Jesus came back to life, and good triumphed over evil.

Easter is a celebration that doesn't have a set date.

It happens in March or April every year, but the date moves with the moon.

The date of Easter is on a different day, every year.

2000 years later, we still celebrate Easter, but it looks a little bit different.

Now, Some Christians still go to church on Easter Friday or Easter Sunday or Easter Monday to hear the story of Easter and to remember it.

But lots of us including non-Christians celebrate Easter too in different ways.

On the screen, you can see some different ways that we celebrate Easter.

Tell your screen, what they are.

Some of us have visits on the Easter bunny at Easter.

The Easter bunny lays Easter eggs for us to find.

Some of us will have Easter eggs, we might eat the chocolate ones, or we might paint eggs different colours, and hang them up to make decorations.

We celebrate Easter in lots of different ways 2000 years later.

Now, that was a lot of information, so lets write it down in a map to remember the Easter story, to remember why we started celebrating Easter.

Now here, I want you to draw a picture to go into each part of the Easter story.

Let's recap it quickly.

There were some very important people who were jealous of Jesus.

Jesus had a last supper with his 12 special friends, his disciples, one of his disciples, Judas, betrayed Jesus, and told the important people where he was.

Jesus was arrested and killed on a cross and his body was placed into a tomb.

But then, Jesus was resurrected.

Jesus came back to life on his way up to heaven.

You can write a word in each box to remember the story of Easter that Christians believe.

If you'd like to, please ask your parents or carer to share your work on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter, tagging Oak National and hashtag Learn with Oak.

I feel like I know so much more about the Easter story now, and I hope you do too.

It's been great learning with you.

I wonder if you're going to celebrate Easter, or maybe you celebrate something else.

Tell your screen what you celebrate.

Wow! that sounds fun, and I love to hear more about your celebrations too.

Have a lovely day, and I'll see you soon.

Bye.
