Hello everyone, it's Miss Doherty.

How are you? In Lesson One, I told you a persuasive piece.

Today, we are going to map and speak that same persuasive piece, "Buy My Gingerbread," so that you can learn how to tell it, too.

In this lesson, you will need an exercise book or paper, a pencil, and your brain.

You can pause the video now while you go and get those items. We're going to start by singing a nursery rhyme.

Then, we'll map the text, and finally, we'll tell the text.

Now this is a song that I have made up to the tune of a nursery rhyme.

And it's a song all about persuasive writing or being persuasive.

I'm going to sing it first and then we'll sing it together.

♪ Well done, everyone.

Let's work together to map the text I told you in Lesson One.

Don't worry if you weren't in Lesson One, I'll tell the text again as I map it.

"Who Will Buy My Gingerbread?" Let's map the text together.

"Who Will Buy My Gingerbread?" So to remember the title, I'm just going to write a question mark.

"Who will buy my gingerbread? Many children like yourself, love eating good food.

Many children like yourself, love eating good food.

Are you hungry now? Have you ever been hungry? Of course you have.

Well, I have the product for you.

Introducing my gingerbread." And for gingerbread, I'm going to draw just a very simple gingerbread man, 'cause it's nice and quick and easy to draw because I've practised in our last unit.

"I want you to buy my gingerbread.

My gingerbread is so nice.

Really, it's more than nice.

It's delicious.

It's so delicious, I think you will love it." And that's the first section of our text.

"It's made with flour and butter.

It's made with ginger and sugar, and an egg." I'm going to draw my bowl and it's made with flour, and it's made with butter, and it's made with ginger and it's made with sugar, and an egg.

"It's made with love and care.

And for just 500 pounds, you can eat it now.

With such amazing ingredients, you must see that you really should buy my gingerbread.

It's the best gingerbread you will ever taste in your life.

Once you've tried it, I know you'll be back for more.

It is truly un-missable." So for that section, I'm going to do a pound sign to remind myself that it's 500 pounds, and to show that it's the best, I'm going to write a number one in a rosette, as if it has won a prize.

So a rosette is like a little badge that you get sometimes when you win a race.

So it can remind us that I have said that is the best gingerbread.

Now the next section is, "Gingerbread can be made into any shape.

You may have heard of the gingerbread man.

Well, I can sell you your very own gingerbread friend if you're lonely, a gingerbread alien if you prefer non-human contact, a gingerbread zebra, if you're an animal lover, I could even sell you a gingerbread house if you're looking for a place of your own.

Just don't put it in the woods." So for that section, I'm going to draw the gingerbread man.

I'm going to draw a gingerbread alien.

It's going to look like this.

Oh, a gingerbread zebra.

How am I going to draw a gingerbread zebra? I might just draw the head.

Legs, body, the legs-- Do zebras have tails? I think they do.

The rest of the body.

And then to remember that it's a zebra, I'm just going to draw in some stripes.

Does that look like a zebra to you? It doesn't really look much like a zebra to me, but when I look at it, I'll know it's a zebra, and it will help me to remember.

And the last one was a gingerbread house.

Now that is something I can draw.

And then the final section is, "My gingerbread is yummy and it will taste so good when it gets in your tummy.

Won't you buy my gingerbread?" So for that section, I'm going to draw somebody with a big smile and I'm going to give them a big tummy, with their hands on their tummy, rubbing their tummy because it was so yummy.

And then I'm going to finish with the question mark, because we end with the question of, "Won't you buy my gingerbread?" Can you create your own text map? Remember, your drawings only have to be simple.

They've just for you to use as they'll help you remember.

Pause the video to complete your task.
