Hi everyone.

It's Miss Britton here for your second lesson in this unit.

In this lesson, we're going to map and speak the story, which is going to help us remember the main events that happen.

In today's lesson, we'll start with our nursery rhyme.

Then you'll listen to and join in with the story Little Red Riding Hood again.

Then we're going to map the story and then we're going to speak the story.

For this lesson, you will need your exercise book, or piece of paper and a pencil.

Super memory and imagination and if you're using one a Teddy talk partner or whatever else you use instead.

You can pause the video now to go and get whatever you need and then press play when you get back.

Cedric is still asleep.

Now, I brought him up from his bed.

But you might need to shout to wake him up, children.

Do you think you can shout, 'Wake up Cedric!' to your screen? Ow, a little bit louder.

Oh! Hello Cedric.

The children are here ready for their second lesson in this unit.

Oh, he said, thanks for waking him up because he didn't want to miss this lesson.

He loves mapping the story.

Oh, Cedric says, 'Can we play a quick game of I spy?' We can have one game Cedric before we start, Okay? He wants to go first and he said, 'I spy with my little eye, something beginning with B?' Beginning with ba.

Ooh! Let's have a look around.

Something beginning with B.

I think I've got it.

Have you got it children? Can you tell me what it is? Book.

Well done and there's lots of them there.

I love books.

You love books as well, don't you Cedric? Now it's time for our Nursery Rhyme.

For our nursery rhyme in the last lesson, children.

Don't worry if you went because we'll go through it again.

It was Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.

Are you ready? ♪ Twinkle, twinkle, little star ♪ ♪ How I wonder what you are ♪ ♪ Up above the sky so high ♪ ♪ like a diamond in the sky ♪ ♪ Twinkle, twinkle, little star ♪ ♪ How I wonder what you are ♪ I thought we could change the words to our nursery rhyme to make it fit with our song.

Are you ready, Children? I'll sing it first then you can join in afterwards.

♪ Little Red Riding Hood ♪ ♪ Feeling frightened in a wood ♪ ♪ What is that, up ahead ♪ ♪ Could it be a scary wolf ♪ ♪ Little Red Riding Hood ♪ ♪ Feeling frightened in a wood ♪ Do you want to join in with me now children? Lets sing it one more time.

♪ Little Red Riding Hood ♪ ♪ Feeling frightened in a wood ♪ What is that.

♪ What is that, up ahead ♪ ♪ Could it be a scary wolf ♪ ♪ Little Red Riding Hood ♪ ♪ Feeling frightened in a wood ♪ Ow! Great work if you had to go singing today, children.

Now it's time to listen to our story Little Red Riding Hood again.

Now I've got my red cloak for this story again.

You might want to pause the video here and go and get yourself a cloak.

It doesn't matter if it's not red, we can just pretend.

Okay, are you ready children? Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Little Red Riding Hood, and she lived at the edge of a forest.

In a cottage with her mother.

She always wore a red cloak with a hood, and that's why she was called Little Red Riding Hood.

One day, her mother called her into the kitchen, 'Little Red Riding Hood, your grandmother is sick.

I need you to go to her house through the forest and take her this basket of milk and eggs.

' 'Do I have to go?' Said Little Red Riding Hood.

'I'm scared at the forest and I don't want to go alone.

' 'Yes, you have to go.

' Her mother said firmly.

'You're old enough now to walk through the forest on your own.

Just stick to the straight path and don't talk to any strangers and go straight to your grandmother's house.

' Little Red Riding Hood nodded, took the basket and as she headed up towards the forest, her mother waved her goodbye.

After a few minutes walking down the straight path, it split into two directions.

One path was straight and the other a winding path.

I wonder what Little Red Riding Hood will do? I hope she'll listen to what her mother said about the straight path.

The straight path, down the straight path, looked dark and scary.

While the winding path, looked brighter.

And in the distance, Little Red Riding Hood could see flowers.

So she decided to take the winding path.

I hope she'll be okay.

After a few minutes walking, she came to some tree.

And stood by the tree, was an enormous, scary wolf.

With hungry eyes, sharp teeth and licking lips.

I wonder if the wolf will hurt her? I hope she'll be okay.

'Where are you going?' Growled the wolf.

'I'm going through the forest to take this basket to my grandma's house.

' The Wolf got closer and closer with a grin on his face.

Aah! I wonder what will happen next children? And just before he could gobble her up, the sound of hunters in the distance, scared him away.

With the wolf gone and the danger out of sight, Little Red Riding Hood carried on down the winding path.

When she got to some flowers, she stood in the and pick them up because she wanted to take a bouquet to her grandmother's house.

When she got to the edge of the forest, with her flowers in her hand, she opened the latch of the cottage and went inside.

I wonder if the wolf is gone? I wonder if Little Red Riding Hood is really safe? When she stepped inside the cottage, she saw somebody in her grandmother's bed.

And although it didn't really look like her grandmother, Little Red Riding Hood just thought that she looked different because she was ill and it was dark in the room.

So she got closer.

'Come into the bed beside me.

' said the voice.

Although it didn't sound like her grandmother.

Little Red Riding Hood hopped into the bed obediently, next to the person in the bed.

I wonder if is grandma in the bed? I wonder if Little Red Riding Hood is safe? 'Grandma, what big eyes you have.

' 'All the better to see you with, my dear' said the voice.

'And grandma, what big nose you have?' 'All the better to smell you with, my dear.

' 'And grandma, what big ears you have?' 'All the better to hear you with, my dear.

' 'And my oh my! Grandma, what big teeth you have? ' Ah! What do you think is going to happen next, children? Who do you think it is in the bed? 'All the better to eat you with.

' And with that, the wolf gobbled up Little Red Riding Hood.

And that was the end of that.

I hope you enjoyed the story again today, children.

Hey, now we're going to map our story, which is going to help us recall and remember the main events that happened.

I would like to start my map with a squiggly line, which I can draw my pictures along.

You can map along with me now or you can wait until the end and copy out, that's up to you.

Okay, so let's have a think about my story.

Who am I introduced to first? Well, I'm introduced to Little Red Riding Hood and her mom.

So I'm going to draw her mom and Little Red Riding Hood.

And what does she do, children? Can you tell your screen what her mom tells her to do? Great work, that's right.

Go through the forest to grandma's house.

So the next bit of the story is what? Can you pause the video now and have a go at drawing the next picture in the story? Where does Little Red Riding Hood go next? Great work, if you gave that a go.

She of course goes to the forest.

And once she goes through the forest, she comes to a split in the path.

Can you tell me what the two splits are? That's right.

The straight path and the winding path.

So I'm going to draw the straight path with a tick because that's the path she should have taken and the winding path with a cross.

And then of course, the next bit, the next middle of our story, the next exciting bit where we want to know happens.

Who does she come across children? Can you draw the next picture on your story map? Or shout at your screens? That's right, it's a big, bad, scary wolf.

So I'm just going to draw the wolf.

Now the wolf goes to eat her up, but she has a helper.

Who is it that helps her? That's right, the hunters come along and they scare the wolf away.

So I'm just going to draw an axe.

So the hunters scare away the wolf and Little Red Riding Hood can go on her way.

And where does she come to when she comes out the forest? That's right.

Grandma's house.

So I'm just going to draw grandma's house.

Then of course, what happens next? Can you draw the picture and tell your Teddy talk partner what happens next? Well done if you gave that a go.

Red Riding Hood slipped into bed with the Wolf.

Big eyes, big ears and of course, big teeth.

So I'm just going to draw the big eyes, the big ears and the sharp teeth.

And then of course, how does our story end? Well, it ends in tragedy.

Little Red Riding Hood gets gobbled up.

so I'm just going to do a big cross because she doesn't survive.

You can always rewind the video and copy up the map as I go along and pause it at any time.

Now, we're going to have a go at speaking our story maps to make sure we understand what our pictures mean.

Okay.

So here is our story map and Cedric, you are going to work with me to speak our story map and you can join into children if you want.

Okay so this first picture, what does this first picture show? Oh, Cedric says, 'That's the bit where Little Red Riding Hood's mother tells her to go through the forest to her grandma's house.

' You're right Cedric, well done.

Mh! This next picture, I think this is a bit where Little Red Riding Hood walks into the forest and she sets off on her journey.

Am I right Cedric? Okay.

What did these two pictures mean? Is that a river? Does she come to a river? Ow! Cedric said he thinks that's a winding path.

Is that right children? Yes.

This is where the past splits into a straight path and a winding path.

And which one did her mother tell her to take? The straight path.

Well done.

Okay.

This next bit Cedric, which is this bit? Cedric says, 'This is a bit where the wolf gobbles her up.

' But I think that happens at the end.

This is the middle.

Remember where our middle stretches out and becomes really exciting.

Yes, that's it.

That's where he goes to eat her up but the hunters come and scare him away.

Okay.

So then that picture, that must be grandma's cottage when she arrives.

And then the wolf, Little Red Riding Hood mentions he has big eyes, big ears and big sharp teeth.

And remember we kept asking, 'Is she going to be okay?' We didn't know.

But then the wolf gobbles her up.

And I think that cross means that she didn't survive Ah! Well done.

Cedric.

I really enjoyed talking through our map and I made sure I knew what some of those pictures meant.

You could pause the video now and talk through your map with your Teddy talk partner or your parent and carer.

I wonder how mapping and speaking the story went for you today.

Me and Cedric really enjoyed ourselves.

Cedric says some bit of the map, he forgot what happened.

Well, that's okay.

We'll keep practising and you can keep practising at home before the next lesson.

You might want to keep looking over your story map and reading over it and remembering the key events.

Before we go, I got a song all about the middle in our story and how we always wonder what happens to Little Red Riding Hood and how it's really exciting.

Are you ready Cedric? I'll sing it first and then you can join in afterwards children.
