Hello everyone, it's Miss Doherty.

In today's lesson, we're going to map and speak the story.

You will need an exercise book or paper and a pencil.

You can pause the video now while you go and get those items. We're going to start today by singing a nursery rhyme.

Then we'll map the story.

And finally, we'll use our map to tell the story.

We'll speak it together.

If you were in my last lesson, I told you the story of Goldilocks and the three bears, and there's a little song that the bears sing.

I'd like us to sing it together.

♪ We're three bears, three bears ♪ ♪ Living in a cottage in the woods ♪ ♪ Three bears, three bears ♪ ♪ Living here together feels so good ♪ Should we try that again? I'll sing a line, then you'll sing a line.

♪ We're three bears, three bears ♪ ♪ Living in a cottage in the woods ♪ ♪ Three bears, three bears ♪ ♪ Living here together feels so good ♪ We're going to map the story now.

Don't worry, if you weren't in our last lesson, as I map it, I'll tell it.

And then it will be your turn to map it.

Once upon a time in the middle of a deep green forest, there was a cottage.

And I'm going to draw a little tree because we're going to be thinking lots about the setting.

And the first setting is the deep green forest, isn't it? So, once in the middle of a deep green forest, there was a cottage.

And in that cottage lived three bears, a daddy bear, a mommy bear, and a baby bear.

They loved each other lots and lots.

I'm going to draw a heart to help me remember that.

Inside the cottage, there were three bowls.

The baby bear had a tiny bowl.

The mama bear had a medium-sized bowl.

And the daddy bear had a big bowl.

I got all muddled that, let me say that bit again.

Inside the cottage, there were three porridge bowls.

The baby bear had a tiny bowl.

The mama bear had a medium-sized bowl and the daddy bear had a big bowl.

Inside the cottage, there were three chairs.

The daddy bear had a big chair.

The mama bear had a middle-sized chair and the baby bear had a tiny chair.

And inside the cottage, there were three beds.

My bed, my bed goes up at the end, nevermind.

The baby bear had a tiny bed.

The mama bear had a middle-sized bed and the daddy bear had a big bed.

One morning, mama bear cooked porridge for breakfast and poured it into the three bowls.

It was too hot to eat, so they went for a walk.

As they walked through the forest, they sang a song.

♪ We're three bears, three bears ♪ ♪ Living in a cottage in the woods ♪ ♪ Three bears, three bears ♪ ♪ Living here together feels so good ♪ So I'm going to do a musical note to remind me that because that porridge was too hot, they went for a walk and sang their song.

While they were out walking, a selfish little girl with golden hair was out walking in the forest as well.

And she was also singing a song.

♪ Goldilocks, Goldilocks, ♪ ♪ What can I steal today ♪ ♪ Maybe some food, maybe some money, maybe a game to play ♪ She smelled porridge and thought, mhm, I'm hungry.

She followed the smell to the cottage, peeked through the window, lifted the latch and stepped into the cottage.

So, here I'm going to draw a picture of a nose and the cottage.

Goldilocks went over to the kitchen table where the porridge was cooling.

First, she tried the porridge in the big bowl, but it was too hot.

Too hot, too hot, she shouted and pouted.

Next, she tried the porridge in the middle bowl, but it was too cold.

Too cold, too cold, she shouted and pouted.

Finally, she tried the porridge in the tiny bowl and it was just right.

Ah, she said, just right.

She smiled and gobbled it all up.

So, I'm going to draw a bowl for porridge to help remind us of that section.

After that, she thought she would sit down.

First, she sat in the big chair, but it was too hard.

Too hard, too hard, she shouted and pouted.

Next, she sat on the middle chair, but it was too soft.

Too soft, she shouted and pouted.

Finally, she sat down on the tiny chair.

Ah, she said, just right, but the girl was too heavy and the chair fell to pieces and Goldilocks fell on the floor.

Oh, bother, she shouted and pouted.

That's no good! Goldilocks went upstairs to the bedroom.

First, she tried the big bed, but it was too high at the head.

Then she tried the middle bed, but it was too low at the head.

Too low, she shouted and pouted.

Finally, she tried the tiny bed.

Ah, she said, just right.

And she fell asleep.

I'm going to do some z's to show that she fell asleep.

She might even have been snoring.

A while later, the bears came back from their walk, still singing their song.

♪ We're three bears, three bears ♪ ♪ Living in a cottage in the woods ♪ ♪ Three bears, three bears ♪ ♪ Living here together feels so good ♪ They lifted the latch and went into their cottage.

Someone's been eating my porridge, roared the daddy bear.

Someone's been eating my porridge too, shouted the mama bear.

Someone's been eating my porridge too, squeaked the baby bear and they've eaten it all up.

And the baby bear began to cry.

Next, they went over to their chairs.

Someone's been sitting in my chair too, shouted mummy bear.

Someone's been sitting in my chair, squeaked the baby bear and it's fallen to pieces.

The baby bear started to cry again.

Finally, they went to the bedroom.

Someone's been sleeping in my bed, shouted the mummy bear.

Someone's been sleeping in my bed, squeaked the baby bear, and she's still there.

The three bears roared and Goldilocks jumped up out of bed out of the window.

And the three bears never saw her again.
