Hello, I'm Adam and this is Panda.

And we are now on lesson nine of units four.

Using the story the "Three Billy Goats Gruff".

Let's see what's on the agenda for today's lesson.

So the first thing on the agenda today will be a warmup.

And we're going to warm up today with some singing.

And we going to sing three nursery rhymes all together, unaccompanied.

So that's going to be fun.

And then we're going to move on to thinking about how we show a story only using actions.

So we'll go through all the actions first, and I will show you how to mime the story before you have a go yourselves.

So let's move on to the warmup.

We just thought it'd be fun just to sing some nursery rhymes.

We hope, you know, a few of these.

The first one we covered in an earlier unit it's called "Baa Baa Black Sheep".

And I'm sure you'll be able to join in with it.

Another one is called "Polly Put the Kettle On", and we imagine that there's a girl called Polly who's being asked by a parent to put the water on, to boil.

So the grownups can have a cup of tea.

And we imagine it's her sister don't we? Sukey, who gets asked to take it off again.

And then there's another silly nursery rhyme about some Billy goats? And we don't know where that one came from.

Do we Panda? No idea.

Here we go.

♪ Baa, baa, black sheep ♪ ♪ Have you any wool ♪ ♪ Yes sir, yes sir ♪ ♪ Three bags full ♪ ♪ One for the master ♪ ♪ And one for the dame ♪ ♪ And one each for the boy and girl ♪ ♪ Who lives down the lane ♪ ♪ Polly put the kettle on ♪ ♪ Polly put the kettle on ♪ ♪ Polly put the kettle on ♪ ♪ We'll all have tea ♪ ♪ Sukey take it off again ♪ ♪ Sukey take it off again ♪ ♪ Sukey take it off again ♪ ♪ They've all gone away ♪ ♪ Three fairy Billy goats sitting on a Hill ♪ ♪ Little one, middle one, big one ill ♪ ♪ Need to see the doctor ♪ ♪ 'Cause they are feeling down ♪ ♪ Madam, madam dragon ♪ ♪ And she flew them to town.

♪ Good.

Let's do the Polly one again.

Ready? ♪ Polly put the kettle on ♪ ♪ Polly put the kettle on ♪ ♪ Polly put the kettle on ♪ ♪ We'll all have tea ♪ ♪ Sukey take it off again ♪ ♪ Sukey take it off again ♪ ♪ Sukey take it off again ♪ ♪ They've all gone away ♪ ♪ Three frilly Billy goats sitting on a Hill ♪ ♪ Little one, middle one, big one ill ♪ ♪ Need to see the doctor ♪ ♪ 'Cause they are a feeling down ♪ ♪ Madam madam dragon and she flew them to town ♪ ♪ Baa, baa, black sheep ♪ ♪ Have you any wool ♪ ♪ Yes sir, yes sir ♪ ♪ Three bags full ♪ ♪ One for the master ♪ ♪ And one for the dame ♪ ♪ And one for each of the boy and girl ♪ ♪ Who lives down the lane ♪ That was fun.

Nursery rhymes done.

So the big challenge of this lesson is how to tell the story without speaking, only showing it.

So I thought I would go through all the actions I can think of.

And I'll talk about what they mean to me, and then I'll do the whole thing without speaking.

And I hope you can follow the story.

After that it'll be your turn to have a try.

Remember every word quietly said is still heard in our head and that's really important.

So at the beginning, when I do this, I'm thinking once upon a time and there were three frilly goats.

So I do that for frilly.

'Cause it's a bit frilly and silly and a bit playful.

And there that's the sign for goats.

And they lived on a Hill, but they wanted to go to the other side, to go to the shops.

There was a problem.

I might do that for problem.

It was the dragon.

The dragon who was shiny and dazzaly and bright.

And she wears gold and she eats them hot, warm or cold.

That's a problem.

The middle Billy goat has a plan.

So I might do that for a plan.

And the plan is they're going to pay tricks.

So then the first Billy goat is going to go down.

Do you remember what that sign meant? When we did that? Trip, trap trapping, trip, trap trip.

And the dragon leaps out we're told and says, "I'm going to eat you up hot, warm, or cold." So I do that for that moment.

But then the little Billy goat he goes, "No," What if he take off his head? He takes off his hat.

So I need to show that.

And he throws the hat like that and the dragon is quick, puts it on but it doesn't fit.

So I need to show that the dragon is disappointed about the hat.

The second, what was that? The second Billy goat went trip, trap, trip, trap, trip.

The dragon comes out and says, "I'm going to eat you hot, cold or cold or medium." He says, "No, I'm going to give you this frock." And so the dragon tries to get the dress on, but it doesn't fit.

And then the third Billy goat comes trip, trap trapping, and the dragon comes out and says, "I'm going to eat you." And this Billy goat goes, "No, take my scarf." But when the dragon takes the scarf, doesn't quite fit and she falls splash into the river and she's sad and she calls out for help and she goes shopping with the three Billy goats 'cause she's made a friend.

So now I was speaking then.

I'm going to try and hold all the words in my head.

And can you do the same and see if I can tell the story without speaking.

I have to really concentrate and say the words in my head.

Here we go.

Were you able to follow the story? My challenge to you try a mime the story of the three Billy goats.

The three frilly Billy goats.

And once you've done it, come back I want to talk about the story some more.

Well done, time for work.

So how did you find miming the story? Panda is a little bit shy.

She prefers to do it that way don't you? Remember and this is really true that every word in your head quietly spoken is still said.

So when we're miming stories, it might be that you can see them picture them in your mind.

And you are still saying the words and that is so important because it's our way of rehearsing being a storyteller.

And I do that a lot when I'm practising my storytelling.

So that story has lots of memorable moments.

When I'm miming it.

I really liked to imagine the dragon putting on the hat and it not fitting and putting on the dress and it not fitting and making that a funny moment in the story.

And then when she goes splash.

There's lots of funny moments in that story.

And I really hope you enjoyed finding ways of showing them.

Well, the next lesson is what we have been working for and that's for you to be so confident on this story.

You can see it, you can do all the actions and you've learned the words that go with the actions.

And we really are looking forward to you being storytellers and telling that story.

But don't worry.

We are going to practise everything one more time to make sure you have everything you need to do it.

So show your story now, without speaking to someone, that's the challenge.

And Panda and I, we look forward to seeing you in the next lesson soon.

Until then.

Bye bye.
