Hello, I'm Adam, this is Panda, and this is lesson seven in unit one.

And this is what we're going to do today, here's the agenda.

First, on the agenda, we thought it'd be a good idea to sing the nursery rhyme we all made up in our previous lesson.

And then after that, we're going to make up a story together.

And for this session, you will need paper and something to draw with.

So for today's warm up, Panda thought it be a good idea to sing Jack and Jill again, as we did in a previous lesson, only this time, we'd add on the new bit about the frog and the dog.

Let me sing it first and then we'll do it together with the actions and please join in, if you can.

♪ Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water.

♪ ♪ Jack fell down and broke his crown ♪ ♪ And Jill came tumbling after.

♪ ♪ Frog and dog went up the hill to buy a lot of ice cream.

♪ ♪ Frog fell down and dropped the lot ♪ ♪ And dog came tumbling after.

♪ Should we do it together with the actions? Here we go.

Let me put my guitar down.

Ready? ♪ Time for a nursery rhyme, a song we just made up.

♪ ♪ Time for a nursery rhyme, ready, ♪ ♪ steady, go.

♪ ♪ Jake and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water.

♪ Was their story full of laughter? Did they eat ice cream ever after? We don't know.

So the main challenge of our session together today is to make up a new story together.

And if you missed the first lesson, Panda and I started out by looking at all the recycling that we have in our house and we talked about how these things are turned into other things, we recycle them.

And it's the same with story.

So we thought it'd be a really good idea to use the story of the Noisy House, that we were working on together before.

So, let's have a look at that first.

Do you remember this? It's the story map of the Noisy House.

And in this story, it started with a man called Adam and he had a problem and his problem was that his house was too noisy because there was wind was whooshing at his windows and the door was creaking and his tap was dripping.

So he went up the hill and down the hill, up the hill and down the hill to see his neighbour.

And he said to his neighbour, "My house is too noisy." And she said, "You need a chicken." So he takes a chicken home, up the hill and down the hill, up the hill and down the hill.

But when he got home, his chicken started to flap about and make a lot of noise.

And when he went to see his neighbour again, she said, "You need a monkey." So when he got the monkey home, the monkey started jumping about and making a noise.

And his neighbour said, "Hm, you need a lion." But you can imagine, he went home up the hill and down the hill, and when he got home his lion roared.

And finally he went up the hill and down the hill, up the hill and down the hill to see his neighbour, and she said, "Hm, you don't need a lion, you don't need a monkey, you don't need a chicken, give them all away." So, he went home and he gave them all away, and his house seemed quiet then, even though the door still creaks.

and the wind still whooshed, and the tap still dripped.

And he went to bed and he was happy.

So we're going to take this story and we're going to recycle it and change it and make it into our own story.

This is so exciting.

A new story.

Panda, in the Noisy House it was a story about Adam.

So who should we have this time? Shall we have a.

Shall we have a monkey in the story? Panda says she'd like a panda in the story.

Okay.

So let's clear my screen and let me try and draw something that would remind me that there was a panda in the story.

Pandas have lovely ears.

Okay, there's the panda.

So, Mr. Adam had a Noisy House, what problem has the panda got? We've got to think about this as well.

Has the panda got a noisy house? Oh, Panda said she's got a leaky boat.

So I'm going to draw an arrow to the next bit of Panda's idea.

And draw a little boat.

Maybe the water inside is going splish, splash, splosh.

That's a good problem.

Nobody wants to have a leaky boat.

Okay, now in the last story, we went up the hill and down the hill, could we change that if it's a boat? Ah, up the wave and down the wave, brilliant.

Up the wave and down the waves, up the waves and down the waves, up the waves and down the waves.

Now, Adam went to see his neighbour.

Has Panda got a neighbour? Panda's neighbour is a long way away and it's.

Let's see if I can draw it first.

It's like this.

Panda, this is Panda's idea.

It's a sea creature.

Well, it lives close to the sea.

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.

A crab! Should we put the crab on an island? So Panda goes, "I've got a leaky boat! Can you help me?" Now instead of a chicken, what could the crab say? Ah, brilliant! "Go to the farm and get a cow." Oh, I can see where this is going.

A cow in a boat, two horns on the head.

It's tricky with this pen.

Now the cow of course, I bet she goes, "Moo," doesn't she? And tramples about.

So that won't go very well.

So splish, splash, splosh.

Splish, splash, splash.

That'd be a mess.

So up the wave and down the wave, up the wave and down the wave, up the wave and down the wave.

He goes to see the crab again.

So she said take in a cow.

Let me give the cow a tail.

What could go in the boat next that would make a problem even bigger? Got a cow, maybe something else from a farm? Maybe a pig? A lamb, sweet.

So a little, woolly lamb.

Lamb goes, "Baa, baa." So the cow's going, "Moo" and the lamb's going, "Baa." And they're trampling about.

It's going splish, splash, splosh in the boat.

"Oh my boat is too leaky." Up the wave and down the wave, up the wave and down the wave, go and see the crab.

We've got a cow, we've got a lamb.

We need something big to make a big splish, splash, splosh.

A donkey? Hmm, that might work.

"Eeyore," goes the donkey.

Just, I'm going to just draw something that reminds me it's a donkey.

And the donkey will go splish, splash, splish, splash about in the boat.

"Oh no! My boat is too leaky." Brilliant idea.

Finally, he goes back to see the crab.

I haven't drawn the crab every time, because I've wanted to draw quickly, but maybe the last time I'll draw the crab.

Crab says, "Give them all away.

You don't need the animals." What does he need? A bucket.

"You just need a bucket." And he goes all the way home on the boat.

And the boat is fine.

Do you see what we were doing? We were taking the idea of the Noisy House and changing it.

Could you now pause the video, and could you do a story map that reminds you of this story, that Panda has just made up.

A story of a panda, who's got a leaky boat that goes splish, splash, splosh, and she takes it up the hill and down the hill to see the crab.

And the crab says, "Take in a lamb." But the lamb goes.

Sorry, it's a cow, isn't it? I told you I make mistakes.

The cow goes, "Moo" and tramples about.

The boat goes splish, splash, splosh.

The crab says, "Take in a lamb." "Baa, baa." Boat goes splish, splash, splosh.

Finally she says, "Take in a donkey." Splish, splash, splosh.

And at the end of the story, Crab says, "You don't need a donkey, you don't need a lamb, you don't need a cow.

You just need a bucket." And Panda sails all the way home and she's happy.

Pause the video.

Could you try and do a story map that helps you remember this new story? So how was that? Hopefully, all of us now have a story map of that new story.

And so, when we meet again, in the next lesson, what we can do is we can step the story and we can learn how to tell it like a story teller.

And we're working towards lesson 10.

You being able to tell this new story, this recycled story, all by yourself.

So keep on drawing, keep on listening to new rhyming words this week.

And I look forward to seeing you, as Panda does to, in the next lesson.

Okay then, goodbye.
