Hello everyone.

My name is Miss Barron.

In this unit, we are learning all about instructions.

Now, I've already found instructions really useful today.

This morning, a button fell off my shirt, and so I had to sew it back on.

In order to do that, I had to read and follow a set of instructions.

Now, I wonder if you've had to follow any instructions since we last met or whether you've had to give anybody else a set of instructions, to tell them how to do something.

Do you remember in lesson one, I told you how to make a magic hat.

Well today, you are going to learn to tell about a set of instructions from memory so that you can tell anybody else you like how to make a magic hat too.

So this is how we're going to do that.

First, we're going to sing our instruction, then you're going to hear the instructions again, to remind you how to make the magic hat.

We're going to retell it from our instructions map, then we're going to set the set of instructions to help us remember it.

And finally, you're going to speak the instructions.

So by the end of today's lesson, you will be able to tell it from memory in your own way.

So in today's lesson, you will need a piece of paper or an exercise book to write on, a pen or a pencil to write with and if you have it still your instructions map from less than one.

That would be really useful.

Pause the video now and go and get those things if you need to.

Fantastic, you are back with everything you need to start the learning today.

Now then.

First, we're going to start with our instruction some again, to remind us what instructions are and why they're so useful.

First, time for our instruction song.

Join in with me as soon as you can.

I think you can remember from lesson one.

Ready? ♪ Instructions, instructions ♪ ♪ How shall we do it ♪ ♪ Instructions, instructions ♪ ♪ How shall we do it ♪ ♪ Explain what it is for ♪ ♪ Explain what you need ♪ ♪ Explain what to do ♪ ♪ That's how you do it ♪ Join him with me.

♪ I said, instructions, instructions ♪ ♪ How shall we do it ♪ ♪ Instructions, instructions ♪ ♪How shall we do it ♪ ♪ Explain what it is for ♪ ♪ Explain what you needs ♪ ♪ Explain what to do ♪ ♪ That's how you do it ♪ There's our instruction song.

So that song reminds us why instructions are so important, what they are and how to give them.

Remember, instructions tell somebody how to do something.

So we need instructions so that we can learn how to do things.

And we need to be able to give instructions so that we can tell other people how to do things too.

So now, I'm going to tell you again, how to make a magic hat.

Oh, hello everyone.

It's me again, the Magic Hat-maker.

Now, you know how much I love to make hats.

And I make all sorts of hats.

I make tall hats and short tats, fat hats and thin hats, all sorts of hats.

But the very best hat to make is the magic hat.

When you put it on your head, it will show you the thing you want most.

One day, it might be covered in butterflies.

The next it might be covered in suites.

Another, it might pop footballs out the top, but I'm the only person in the world that knows how to make it.

So shh.

I'm going to tell you how to make it today, but don't tell anyone it's going to be our secret.

You will need the horn of a unicorn, the tooth of a dragon, the song of a mermaid, the snot of a giant, a ray of silva moonlights and a big gold bucket.

This is what you do.

First catch a ray of silver Moonlight in your gold bucket.

Next, add your unicorn horn and your dragon tooth.

After that, mix it all together with a snot of a giant and finally sing the song of a mermaid.

It goes like this.

So I'm going to show you how to use the pictures on your maps to help remind you.

Now, listen to me talk my map first, then it's going to be your turn to talk your map.

So our maps are going to remind us what a magic hat is for what we need to make one, what we do to make one and what the magic hat will do for us once we've got it.

So the magic hat is the very best hat to make because it shows us the thing we want most.

Okay, so now that we've heard it and we've talked our maps, we are now going to set our set of instructions to help us remember it even better.

You might like to get into role as I did.

You might like to find a hat in your house and pretend that you're the Magic Hat-maker too.

Now, when you speak your instruction piece, have a think about using your voice and your body to help you tell it really clearly.

So tell it with a clear voice.

Think about your pace, which means how fast or slow you're talking.

So often you might want to speak it a bit slower so that people can really understand you.

So pause the video now and have a go at telling the set of instructions, how to make a magic hat in your own way.

Well done for your brilliant hard work today.

Learning to tell that set of instructions from memory.

Now you can tell anyone you like how to make a magic hat.

So before we finish, I would like to do two things.

First, I'd like us to sing the mermaid song again, because that's really important, isn't it? Remember without it, the magic hat does not appear on our heads.

So we need to know it.

You ready to sing it with me? Let's go, aye.

♪ I am a mermaid from the deep blue sea ♪ ♪ Don't you want some magic like me ♪ ♪ My tail is full of magic you see ♪ ♪ That's why there's magic in a deep blue sea ♪ Fantastic, well done.

Now, the last thing I want to do is to tell you how to make a different type of hat.

Now, this is one that you can do really easily at home with the help of an adult.

So let me make that really clear.

In order to do this, you must make sure that you have an adult with you.

Now, I want to tell you how to make a simple paper hat with your name on it.

So let me put it on my head so you can see it.

There's my hat with my name, Kate.

And I've drawn a rainbow because I really like rainbows.

Now, I'm going to tell you today how to make a paper hat with your name on it.

This is what you will need.

You will need a piece of paper, here it is.

You will need a piece of paper, some scissors, some sellotape, or some glue and some fell tips.

This is what you do.

First, take your piece of paper and fold it in half length ways, like this.

Then, run your fingers along the fold so that you can see the folds clearly.

Then, take your scissors and cut along the fold.

So I'm going to show you that now.

So, cut along the pole and you will have two strips of paper.

After that, take your glue or sellotape and stick two ends of your two strips of paper together like this.

So, it will look like this.

Your two strips will be stuck together.

After that, you are going to take your fell tip and write your name on one of the strips.

And you might like to do some pictures around it.

After that you are going to put it around your head and measure where it fits your head.

You will then take it off and use your glue or sellotape to stick those two ends together.

And then you will have a paper hat that fits your head with your name on it.

And it will look something like this.

But instead of saying, Kate, it will probably say a different name and you can decorate it any way you like.

So that is how to make a paper hat with your name on it.

And like I said, remember, you're going to have a go at this, make sure that you ask an adult to help you.

So that is the end of our learning today.

But before I leave you, I want to give you one last challenge.

Can you instruct someone in your household, maybe a parent or carer or perhaps even one of your toys, maybe your teddy bear to make a magic hat without looking at your map.

So can you tell them how to do it from memory without using your map to help you.

That is my challenge for you, for you to have it go out before we see each other in the next lesson.

So I hope you've enjoyed the lesson today.

I have really enjoyed working with you and I look forward to seeing you in lesson three, bye.
