Hello, I'm Adam and this is Panda.

We are on unit five, lesson eight, using the story Mouse Deer.

which has now changed.

Anyway, let's see what's on the agenda today.

So for our warmup today, we're going to do the we're not afraid of dinosaurs chant.

After that, we're going to do a short reading activity where we think about what the children say to the T-Rex.

Every time they see him in the story.

And finally the big challenge of the session Panda and I we are going to do some activities that support you as you move towards telling this story to your talk Teddy.

So for this session, you might well need your talk Teddys too, Okay.

Are you ready? Are you ready to do the we're not afraid of dinosaurs chant with all the actions? Here we go.

♪ We're not afraid of dinosaurs ♪ ♪ Giant beasts with mighty roars ♪ ♪ Stomping for the jungle on all fours ♪ ♪ We're not afraid of dinosaurs ♪ ♪ Oh oh, roar roar ♪ ♪ what's this? It's a dinosaur ♪ ♪ Long neck, chews leaves ♪ ♪ She's not scared of us ♪ ♪ It's the Diplodocus ♪ ♪ We are not afraid of dinosaurs ♪ ♪ Giant beast with mighty roars ♪ ♪ stomping through the jungle on all fours ♪ ♪ We're not afraid of dinosaurs ♪ ♪ Oh oh roar roar ♪ ♪ What's this? ♪ ♪ is a dinosaur scaly skin ♪ ♪ spiky tail, you know she saw us ♪ ♪ it's a stegosaurus ♪ ♪ We're not afraid of dinosaurs ♪ ♪ Giant beast with mighty roars ♪ ♪ Stomping through the jungle on all fours ♪ ♪ We're not afraid of dinosaurs ♪ ♪ Oh oh roar roar ♪ ♪ What's this? is a dinosaur ♪ ♪ He stands tall ♪ ♪ We feel small ♪ ♪ We're feeling vexed ♪ ♪ It's the big T-Rex ♪ ♪ We're a little bit afraid of dinosaurs ♪ ♪ Giant beast with mighty roars ♪ ♪ stomping through the jungle on all fours ♪ ♪ We are a little bit afraid ♪ ♪ So we'll give our drums a bang ♪ ♪ We're not afraid of dinosaurs ♪ So for our reading activity today I need to put my reading glasses on and we're going to have a think about the words that the children say when they meet the T-Rex.

And introduce a new high frequency word.

The screen is going to go blue.

Here we go.

Hey there, we're over here.

It won't be an empty screen for long.

There's a new high frequency word.

We want to show you today and it's a great one for our story.

The T-Rex leaps and roars and he says, I'm going to eat you and the children go, no, look.

And look is a high frequency word.

You'll be working with your teachers on letters and sounds.

We're looking at the whole shape of the word and trying to memorise it.

Look, said the children look said the.

They're all high frequency words.

Now for the first time, when we put words together, they do make something special.

They make a sentence.

So, if this is going to be a proper sentence, we need to start with something here.

Can you remember what it is? A capital letter.

So now, should we read it together? Look said the children something's wrong.

Who knows what's wrong? There's a capital letter.

So the end of the sentence, we need something as well.

And because the children are saying, look, something has to happen there too.

Huh.

There we are full stop.

Look.

Quotation marks because the children are speaking.

Don't worry about those and an exclamation mark because we want to be able to say look and sound excited together, Look said the children.

That's the sentence.

And that's today's new high frequency word.

♪ We can read a sentence word by word ♪ ♪ The sentence is so happy ♪ ♪ because it has been heard ♪ Brilliant.

So that sentence, Look said the children.

We can use that in our storytelling.

For this activity I've chosen to stand up.

So if you would like to, and you're able to perhaps you could stand up too.

And together we are going to tell the story.

So perhaps we can do the actions together, and you can join in.

You can either say the words out loud or say them in your head.

Are you ready? Hands together because we're going to start with once upon a time.

Here we go.

Once upon a time, a giant dinosaur hunted with a stomp and mighty roar.

Then through the trees, he heard a song.

He stopped and he grunted argh something is wrong.

♪ We two very clever kids having lots of fun ♪ ♪ We're quick and we're clever ♪ ♪ And we know how to run ♪ ♪ We're two very clever kids having lots of fun ♪ ♪ We're quick and we're clever ♪ ♪ And we know how to run ♪ The T-Rex leapt with a mighty roar together 1 2 3 roar I am going to eat you.

Ah ah look.

Said the children.

And when the T-Rex looked.

He saw what he thought was a big muddy, sludgy puddle in the ground.

This, said their children.

Is a Diplodocus bath.

The water is so warm.

The bath is so deep.

It will warm you and soothe you and send you to sleep.

Wooh said the T-Rex, can I jump in? Yes said the children, but we will have to go.

The children rode away on Diplodocus and T-Rex got in the bath.

Said the T-Rex It's freezing.

Show me how cross he was.

Once in a jungle, a giant dinosaur hunted with a stomp and a mighty roar.

Ah ah said the children.

Look at this.

Said the children.

and this time they pointed upwards into a tree that is a pterosaur nest that pterosaur nest is the best you can get.

You rock in there And you will really sleep like a baby.

Said the children Wooh said the T-Rex Could I try that? Yes.

said the children, but we will have to fly away on the pterosaur.

The T-Rex climbed the tree.

But when he got in the pterosaur nest, the branches broke and he fell with a crash.

Ah ah look at this.

Said the children.

And they pointed to a great big mound, a hump on the ground.

This belongs to stegosaurus.

They said, It's a drum.

This drum is such fun.

It will make everyone dance.

It booms and vibrates, hit it hard, take a chance.

Wooh said the T-Rex.

And as the children rode away on the stegosaurus back.

The T-Rex drummed on what he thought was the drum.

But it was an ants nest.

Oww oww said the T-Rex And the last thing that T-Rex heard was the sound of children.

♪ We're two very clever kids ♪ ♪ having lots of fun ♪ ♪ We're quick and we're clever ♪ ♪ And we know how to run ♪ mmh Well done.

Now, I'm going to set you a challenge.

I'm going to pause the video and I would like you to try and tell that story to a talk Teddy.

Now you can use words.

Or you can use the words in your head and act it out like this.

You can choose.

You can use actions to tell the story.

You can use actions and some words and when you forget the words you can just show.

If you forget the name of the pterosaur show it's the pterosaur.

If you forget the name for Diplodocus show it's Diplodocus remember he has a long neck.

T-Rex, short hands.

but sharp claws.

And the stegosaurus was spiky with big jaws.

Tell the story in your own way.

Okay? Time for work.

Good luck.

So how did you tell the story? Did you do it just with actions? Did you do it with words and actions? A little bit of both? Every storyteller, tells a story in their own way.

And remember every word in your head quietly spoken is still said.

You are still being a storyteller, even if you showed it all just using actions.

So, we love to see your work at the Oak Academy.

So please ask your carers and teachers and send your work in.

Maybe they filmed you telling the story in your own way.

So what have we done today? We did a warmup.

With we're not afraid of dinosaurs song.

We did some reading looking at the words that the children say, look at this.

Look, said the children.

We did that.

And we told the story together, chorally.

And then you did something amazing.

You told the whole story by yourself to your talk Teddys.

so that's an amazing thing.

So our challenge is for you to go and tell that story to somebody else, because stories need to be heard.

And it makes a story happy when you tell it.

Now, one more lesson left in this unit.

We are going to do something completely different In that lesson.

We are not going to recycle a story.

We are going to create a new story.

You are going to create your own story.

So we're going to have to think about a character that we care about and what happens to them.

So for that session, there'll be lots of thinking, And also drawing.

And we look forward to seeing you then, but for now, from Panda and Myself.

Bye bye.
