Hello, I'm Adam and this is Panda and we are on lesson five of unit four using The Three Billy Goats Gruff.

And today is the big challenge of Panda and I supporting you as you get ready to tell this story independently.

So let's have a look what's on the agenda today.

So the first thing we'll do today is we'll have very quick rhythmic read and then we'll warmup the characters or our character descriptions and then we'll rehearse all the things we need to rehearse before you tell the story.

So we'll sing the story and we'll tell the story together.

All right, quite a lot to do.

Let's go on to the rhythmic read.

So our first warmup today is going to be a rhythmic read.

Rhythm with sound.

It goes like this.

S-s-a-t.

S-a-t.

S-a-t.

Sat.

S-a-t.

Sat.

S-a-t.

Sat.

S-a-t.

Sat.

And that's our rhythmic read.

Onto the next warmup.

Our next warmup is going to being warming up our description of the big bad troll.

So I'll say a line and perhaps you could say it back.

Are you ready? The big bad troll has big bad eyes.

His eyes are the size of billy goat pies.

His big sharp teeth are the colour of custard.

But he won't us eat us with dollops of mustard.

Good.

And can you remember what the troll says when the little billy goats go trip, trap, trapping across the bridge? He goes, "I'm going to eat you up from your tail to your snout." Can you do that? "I'm going to eat you up from your tail to your snout." Brilliant.

Our next bit of warmup will be singing the song.

We've been working towards today you telling the story.

So we've sung the story, we've acted out all the bits of the story and we put actions to the important moments.

So, how about I tell the story one more time and I'll invite you to join in? And you can say the words in your head if you want to, that's fine too.

Here we go.

Remember, all storytellers know this one.

Ready? It's story time.

It's story time.

Look, listen, learn.

Once upon a time there were three billy goats gruff who lived on a hillside by a river.

The smallest billy goat was the youngest and he was as sweet as apple pie.

The middle size billy goat was as clever as a cat.

And the big billy goat, why he was as rough and tough as any billy goat you could imagine.

His horns were worn and strong and sharp and they said he could knock any billy goat out of the park.

There was a problem.

A big problem.

You see, the grass on the hillside was weedy and short, but over the river, the grass was as green as the greenest meadow ever seen.

The problem wasn't the meadow.

The problem wasn't the river.

The problem wasn't the bridge.

It was the big bad troll who lived under the bridge.

And what did he look like, this troll? Why, they said his eyes were the size of billy goat pies.

They said his teeth were sharp, the colour of custard.

And he'd eat you up with dollops of mustard.

The clever middle size billy goat came up with a plan.

"I've got it", he said to his brothers one morning.

And he called them across and he whispered his plan.

The first billy goat, the little one, set off for the bridge.

♪ I'm just a little billy goat ♪ ♪ In a little furry coat ♪ ♪ A little billy goat in a little furry coat ♪ ♪ I'm just a little billy goat ♪ ♪ In a a little furry coat ♪ ♪ A very little billy goat ♪ The little billy goat went trip, trap, tripping, trip, trap, trip across the bridge.

The troll leapt out and said with a shout, "I'm going to eat you up from to your tail to your snout." Little billy goat gave him a wink and before the troll could think, he dashed off saying, "Don't eat me.

Eat my brother.

He's coming.

He's juicier than me." The troll could already hear a song.

♪ I'm just a middle size billy goat ♪ ♪ With a middle size furry coat ♪ ♪ A middle size billy goat ♪ ♪ With a middle size furry coat ♪ The middle size billy goat went trip, trap, tripping, trip, trap, trip and he crossed the bridge double quick.

The troll leapt out and he said with a shout, "I'm going to eat you up from your tail to your snout." The second billy goat, the middle size one, gave the troll a wink and before he could think, the billy goat was gone and the troll heard a song.

"Don't eat me", said the billy goat.

"Eat my brother.

He's juicier than me." ♪ I'm just a great big billy goat ♪ ♪ With a great big furry coat ♪ ♪ A great big billy goat ♪ ♪ With a great big furry coat ♪ The big billy goat went trip, trap, trapping, stomp, stamp, kick.

The troll jumped out and he said with a shout, "I'm going to eat you up from your tail to your snout." But the big billy goat laughed.

He put down his big horns and he butted that troll high into the sky Wee, ahhh, splash! Into the sea, went that troll.

And the big billy goat gruff crossed the bridge to meet his brothers on the other side where they ate the lush, green grass.

I told that story a little bit differently.

Every time I tell a story, like you, the words come out differently, but it's the same story.

I remember some bits, I forget other bits.

And I do make mistakes.

You probably saw me.

But that is okay.

Are you ready? Are you ready for the big challenge? I'm going to pause the video now and I would like you to tell that story to somebody.

Tell it to your talk teddy if you want to.

Good luck.

It's time for work.

How did you get on? And how did you tell the story? Well, remember, we at Oak Academy love to see your storytelling, so let your teachers and carers know if you want them to send in your work.

Maybe they can film you and we'd be really happy to celebrate your wonderful storytelling with you.

That story's very happy now because that story has been told and stories really need to be told.

Well, so far in this unit we have discovered that stories need to have memorable moments, endings that make us think and all stories have to have problems. And the problem in that story was a really exciting one with a big bad troll.

But by working as a team, those three billy goats gruff worked out how to beat the troll.

Well, you've got a story to tell now.

So your challenge is to go and tell that story to somebody else.

And I promise you that anybody who hears you tell it will think you are amazing.

Well, in the next lesson in this unit Panda and I are going to be working with you to make up a story that's never been told before by recycling the story of the billy goats gruff.

We'll have to change them and we'll have to change what the troll is like as well.

But it will be fun and exciting and we don't know what's going to happen for sure.

So until then, we look forward to seeing you.

Keep on telling stories.

Bye-bye.
