Hello, everyone, and welcome back to another lesson with me, Miss Sidenius.

Today we're going to be learning about Jesus, a figure who's really important in the Christian religion.

In today's lesson, we're going to start off by learning about Jesus.

Then we're going to a create a star, just like the bright star from the Nativity story.

And finally, we're going to have a go at sharing our star with somebody in our household, a teddy or a toy.

In this lesson, you're going to need quite a few things.

Some paper, preferably some yellow paper if you've got some but don't worry if you don't.

Some scissors, some glue, some pens and pencils and some decorations.

Now, I used glitter and gems and foil as decorations for my star.

So pause the video here, go and get some items that you can use for today's lesson and come back when you're ready.

Star words, star words, star words.

My turn, Jesus.

Jesus.

Jesus is a person who Christians believe is the son of God.

So Christians believed that Jesus was the son of God, sent down to Earth to teach people how to live good lives and follow the rules of God.

Jesus had many disciplines who were people who followed Him and learnt from him as well.

Christians also believed that Jesus performed many miracles.

Miracles are very special things that don't normally happen, a bit like they were magic.

So as we talked about, Christians believed that Jesus did lots of good whilst he was on Earth, including some of these miracles.

One of the miracles that Christians believe Jesus performed was healing a very sick woman who had been in bed with a very high fever, Jesus came to her and said, "Let your sickness be gone." And she felt much better.

Lots of people from all around came to visit Jesus after hearing the story and he was able to heal many, many different people who didn't feel well or who had an injury.

He could even help people to walk who had never been able to walk before.

Another miracle that Christians believes Jesus performed was that one day, he was crossing the sea with his disciples, the people who followed him, when suddenly, a huge storm broke out.

Jesus slept while thunder, lightning and waves crashed all around him.

His disciples couldn't understand how he was sleeping through all of the noise and the boat rocking from side to side.

When Jesus woke up, he told the air and the wind to calm down.

All of a sudden, the waves were still and the sun came out.

Jesus had performed the miracle of changing the weather.

These miracles, and Christians believing that Jesus is the son of God, are some of the reasons why Jesus is so important in the Christian religion.

Now, you may remember the Nativity story from lesson two.

The Nativity story follows the story of Jesus' birth.

Jesus was born in a stable and three wise men travelled to meet him by following a bright star in the sky.

That's right.

So to celebrate Jesus, we're going to create a bright star ourselves, just like the one that guided the three wise men in the story.

You can choose how to make your star.

I'm going to use some coloured paper and I'm going to draw a star on my paper.

So I'm doing a triangle.

An upside down triangle first.

You can see I'm going really slowly and carefully to make sure that the lines are straight.

Now I'm going to draw another triangle going the other way, facing the right way up.

Down.

And across.

So a triangle has three sides.

Up, down and across.

And you can see, I've drawn my star.

Have a go at drawing your star.

You can always ask a parent or carer to help you.

It is a little bit tricky.

And come back when you're ready.

Now it's time for me to cut out my star.

Remember to keep your fingers well away from the scissors and try to cut as close to the line as you can.

You will need to move the paper around while you cut out your star because it's a bit of an awkward shape.

So cut close to the edges.

Going all the way round.

If it's not really neat, don't worry, it doesn't matter.

Nearly finished now.

Again being really careful to keep my fingers away from the scissors.

And there we go, I've cut out my star.

So pause the video here, cut out your star and come back when you're ready.

Next up, we're going to decorate our star to make it look really shiny and bright, just like the star in the Nativity story.

So I'm putting some glue onto my star and spreading it all around to the edges so that I can stick some bright shiny decorations on.

So you can see I'm using some foil now to stick down onto my star.

And make it look really bright and shiny.

Make sure you cover as much of your star as you can so that it looks really bright in the sky.

And another bit at the top.

There we go.

Okay, so pause the video here.

Put the first part of your decorations on.

It might be foil, it might be glitter, it might be sequins, it's up to you.

And come back when you're ready.

And so I've got my star and I'm going to put the glue on top of the foil now as well, just to make sure that there's lots of glue still because I'm going to add something else on top now.

So I'm putting some extra glue on top.

And oh, I'm going to add some glitter.

Look.

Now, I'm going to go really carefully.

And just gently, gently shake the glitter out of the pot.

You might want to ask a parent or carer to help you with the glitter 'cause we don't want to pour all of it out and waste it.

We only want to use a little bit.

Or you could pour it into a bowl and pinch the glitter and sprinkle it on top.

That might be easier.

So I've got my glitter.

I'm going to pick up my star really carefully so I don't spill glitter everywhere and I'm just going to tap off the glitter that I'm not using.

Look, lots of it didn't stick to the star.

So we have to make sure we give it a shake.

There we go.

So my star is already looking really nice and shiny.

Pause the video here.

Add your next decoration and come back when you're finished.

Brilliant, so we're moving on to the last part now.

So I've got my glue and you can see I've got a box of gems next to me.

And I'm going to stick on lots of different gems onto my star.

I've got a big one in the middle and I'm going to put some small ones all around it.

Like so.

I've got some silver ones and some gold ones that will really shine in the light.

I'm going to put a big one in each corner.

And then a couple more little ones because this isn't any old star, this is the special Nativity star that guides the wise men to Jesus on the night that he is born.

And just a couple more now.

So you can see, I've tried to spread them out across my whole star.

My last one.

There we go.

I've finished my bright star.

Pause the video here.

Add some more decoration to your star and come back when you're finished.

Excellent job, everyone.

I hope you like your beautiful bright star.

Now, can you think back to the beginning of the lesson and tell me why is Jesus special in the Christian religion? Christians believe Jesus is special because? That's right, he taught lots of people how to be good people.

And Christians believe that he performed miracles, like healing people when they were ill and being able to change the weather.

And also, Christians believe that Jesus was the son of God, which makes Him very special in the Christian religion.

Well done, everyone.

I hope you enjoyed learning a bit more about Jesus and what makes Jesus special in the Christian religion.

Make sure that you share your star with somebody in your household, a teddy or a toy.

I think they'd be really proud of how bright and shiny your star is.

See you next time.
