In today's lesson, we're going to do a role play activity to help deepen our understanding of the recount.

In this lesson, you will need a Teddy talk partner and you're listening at ears.

I've got Asheen with me.

Say, hi, Asheen! We're going to start today's lesson by singing a nursery rhyme.

Then we'll complete a role play activity.

We are going to sing a song to the tune of London's Burning.

Do you know London's Burning? Let's sing it just to remind ourselves.

But now, Asheen, it's time for some role play.

You know what role play is, don't you? I'm sure you do.

Yes.

Absolutely.

Role play is when we pretend, we imagine and we make believe.

Fantastic, Asheen.

So in today's role play, we are going to pretend to be news reporters on the tele giving a news report about the shocking events at the cottage in the middle of the woods.

Yes.

That does sound like Goldilocks and the three little bears.

That's exactly what we're going to be talking about.

Well done, Asheen.

So I'm going to start and I'm going to be talking to my Teddy talk partner Asheen, and Asheen is going to pretend to be the news reporter.

Is that okay, Asheen? Fantastic! So, Asheen's got his microphone and Asheen's going to ask me what happened at the cottage today.

Well, it was very shocking! Terribly shocking.

I came home from my walk in the woods, and we'd just gone out for a walk to let our porridge cool.

And we came back to the cottage and the door was open.

So I knew immediately that something was wrong.

"How did you know that something was wrong?" Well, the door was open and we hadn't left the door open.

So I came into the cottage and my porridge was all gone.

Naturally, I started to cry.

"I'm so sorry to here that." Can you see how Asheen and I are both pretending to be on the television doing a news report? Who was I pretending to be? Goldilocks? Nope.

Mommy Bear? Nope.

Daddy Bear? Nope.

Baby Bear? I absolutely was.

What you're going to do now is you're going to have a go at doing some role play.

Either you can be the news reporter like Asheen was, or you could be one of the characters like I was.

Of course, unless your Teddy talk partner can actually talk, you're going to have to do both parts.

We're just pretending, it's role play.

Now, I can't wait to see how you all get on.

How did you find that? We had so much fun! First, I pretended to be Baby Bear and then Asheen pretended to be Goldilocks.

Should we show you what happened, when Asheen pretended to be Goldilocks? I'm the news reporter.

Goldilocks, why did you break into the three bears' house? "Well, I didn't mean to break in.

It's just, the door was open and I could smell the porridge." But is it right, that if you smell porridge, you can break into somebody's house? "No, but they were terribly scary." Does it matter that they were scary? You were in the wrong.

You were in their house.

Just because they were scary, it's only because you were in their house.

"I suppose that's true." Do you have anything you'd like to say to the three little bears? "I suppose, I should say I'm sorry, especially to Baby Bear.

I didn't mean to eat your porridge." You didn't mean to eat the porridge? How can you not mean to eat the porridge? "Well, what I mean is, I did mean to eat the porridge, but I shouldn't have done it.

I was wrong.

And I'm sorry." That's an exclusive report from Goldilocks.
