Hello everyone.

It's Miss Doherty.

How are you? In today's lesson you will need a Teddy Talk partner, your listening ears, and of course, your brain.

You can pause the video now, while you go and get those items. We're going to sing a nursery rhyme first.

Then we'll complete a speaking activity, and we'll finish with a writing challenge.

I wonder if you know the nursery rhyme, one, two, three, four, five.

Let's sing it together.

If you don't know it you can listen first, and join in the second time.

♪ One, two, three, four, five ♪ ♪ Once I caught a fish alive ♪ ♪ Six, seven, eight, nine, 10 ♪ ♪ Then I put it back again ♪ Can you sing that with me? ♪ One, two, three, four, five ♪ ♪ Once I caught a fish alive ♪ ♪ Six, seven, eight, nine, 10 ♪ ♪ Then I threw it back again ♪ ♪ Why did you let it go ♪ ♪ Because it bit my finger so ♪ ♪ Which finger did it bite ♪ ♪ This little finger on my right ♪ Shall we try that second part as well? ♪ Why did you let it go ♪ ♪ Because it bit my finger so ♪ ♪ Which finger did it bite ♪ ♪ This little finger on my right ♪ Let's put that all together.

♪ One, two, three, four, five ♪ ♪ Once I caught a fish alive ♪ ♪ Six, seven, eight, nine, 10 ♪ ♪ Then I threw it back again ♪ ♪ Why did you let it go ♪ ♪ Because it bit my finger so ♪ ♪ Which finger did it bite ♪ ♪ This little finger on my right ♪ We're going to do a role play activity.

Have you got your Teddy Talk partner? For our role play activity I've got my Teddy Talk partner, whose name is Yakob.

And Yakob and I are going to do some role play together.

So I'm going to pretend that my Teddy Talk partner Yakob is my granddad.

And I'm going to pretend that I am at the shops, and I have seen some gingerbread, and I really want that gingerbread.

So what I'm going to do is make my hand into a phone, and I'm going to pretend to call my granddad.

Let's see if my Teddy Talk partner can pretend that he is on the phone too.

Granddad? I'm at the shops.

Yes.

Yes, I've got the milk that you wanted me to get, but, Granddad, I've seen some gingerbread and I really want it.

Can I have it? Oh, please, Granddad.

It's the best.

It looks so yummy.

It will make me happy.

Can I get it? But Granddad, don't you know that gingerbread is actually really yummy and you would like it too? It's the best gingerbread there is.

But I don't want to make some.

Granddad, instead of making some, shall we buy it? And then I promise you will love it.

I can tell you the ingredients.

It's made with flour and butter, and sugar, and an egg, and ginger, of course.

Please, Granddad.

Hmm, how else can I persuade you? What if I promise to do the dishes when I get home? Thank you, Granddad.

When I was trying to persuade my Teddy Talk partner, who I was pretending was my granddad and I was at the shops, what techniques did I use? I said please.

I exaggerated, I said it was the best gingerbread in the whole wide world.

What else could I have used? What's that, Yakob? I could have.

Oh.

Oh, okay.

Hmm, I should have used more emotive language.

Let me try one more little bit.

And ask some questions too? Okay, I'll try that.

Granddad, don't you want me to feel happy? I will be devastated if I can't have the gingerbread.

Do you think that was better? I think it was too.

Now you're going to have a turn at pretending you're in the shop calling somebody, it might be your granddad it might be somebody else, and persuading them to let you buy the gingerbread.

Try everything you can to convince that imaginary person that you should have the gingerbread.

Happy persuading.

Pause the video now and complete your task.

Now we're going to write a persuasive sentence, and I'm going to think back to all of the persuasive sentences in the persuasive piece that we've learnt in previous lessons.

It's okay if you weren't in our previous lessons, you can think of one of the persuasive sentences that Yakob and I role played for you.

So the persuasive sentence I'm going to write is: For just £500 it can be yours.

For just £500 it can be yours.

Now I'm going to write this but I'm going to do a Pound sign like this.

Then I'm going to write 500.

Can you go show me five on your hands? 500 fantastic.

For just £500 Hmm, that one's not on the line.

This one should be on the line, shouldn't it? For just £500 it can be yours.

We just have to know it.

Y O U R S For just £500 it can be yours.

Now, before you move on to doing your own writing, could you read my sentence to your Teddy Talk partner, putting your finger under each of the words as you read them.

Pause the video now to complete your task.

It's your turn to do some writing now.

You're going to write the sentence: Can I get it? Can I get it? Remember when we're writing we say the word, robot the word, write the word.

Listen to that sentence one more time.

Can I get it? If you feel confident enough to start writing, pause the video now.

If not, hold on for a second, and we'll robot those words together which will help you.

Can I get it? Can.

Say it with me.
