Hi, everyone, welcome to your ninth lesson of the unit with me, Miss Brittain.

In this lesson, we are going to be continuing writing our discussion.

And today we're going to be writing the disadvantages of Little Red Riding Hood going into the forest alone.

We'll start off with the nursery rhyme, then we'll recap the discussion so far, and then we'll write the next bit of our discussion.

You will need any writing you've done so far, an exercise book or a piece of paper and a pencil, super imagination, and your Teddy talk partner if you have one.

Before we begin today's learning, Cedric wants to play a game of fortunately, unfortunately.

I call it advantages and disadvantages.

If something fortunately happens, then it's good that it's happened, it's like good luck.

If something unfortunate happens, then it's bad that it happens.

So I might say, fortunately, the king escaped from the dragon.

And then Cedric has to follow that with an unfortunate thing, event.

Unfortunately, the dragon blew out a massive ball of fire.

Now I've got to follow that with a fortunate thing.

Fortunately, the king, the knight had a shield to protect himself.

Unfortunately, the fire burns through the shield.

Remember we don't want to kill our character, we want to keep them alive for as long as we can.

Fortunately, another friendly dragon came and swooped the knight and took him away off into the sky.

Could you say the next unfortunate thing that might happen in our story? I got a new nursery rhymed that Cedric really wanted to do, because he loves doing this one.

And you can do it too with your Teddy talk partner.

It's called Round and Round the Garden.

I'll do it once.

And if you've not heard it before, you can listen and then you can join in.

Now let's recap where we're up to in our writing.

So I'll read this out.

Yours might look a little bit different to mine, and that's okay too.

I am here to talk about my sis going into the woods on her own.

That was my introduction.

Then I did my advantages.

Mom said she should go for three reasons.

First, Gran was sick and on her own.

Second, we were busy and sis was not.

Third, she was old enough to go alone.

So I can see that on my box plan, I've done my advantages, and now I'm onto my disadvantages where Little Red Riding says, "Well, on the other hand, "sis says it's dangerous in the woods "because of big, bad, scary wolves." She's tired and it's a long journey, and she might get lost.

So there are three disadvantages of what we're going to be talking about in our next bit of writing.

Before writing the discussion, let's have a look at our star words.

You can't sound them out.

You've just got to know them.

Let's have a look at those.

As I have in the other lessons previous to this one, I have written a sentence to start you off with your writing.

You might want to copy up this sentence now by pausing the video, or you might want to just carry on writing from that sentence.

And that's absolutely fine too.

Or you might want to write your own sentence.

You do whatever you feel confident with.

What the opening sentence that I've used is, on the other hand.

So it's showing us a different opinion.

On the other hand, my sis said there were three reasons she should not.

And we're going to write the three reasons.

Can you tell your Teddy talk partner what the first reason was? On the other hand, my sis said there were three reasons she should not.

And remember we've got our key word you can use and copy, first, second, and third.

Can you tell your screen now what the first reason was? Great ideas, everybody.

So I'm going to put that into a sentence.

If you feel confident enough to write your own sentence now, that's great too.

But you might want to write along with me, and that's fine.

First, it was dangerous.

And I'm going to use my key high frequency word, key style word, dangerous.

And I'm going to extend this sentence using because.

It was dangerous because, or why was it dangerous, children? That's right, because of wolves.

First, it was dangerous because of wolves.

Remember, think it, say it, punctuate it.

I've said it twice, now I can punctuate it.

Capital letter.

First, it was dangerous because of wolves, full stop.

If you want to have a go at writing that sentence on your own, pause the video now.

Dangerous, a super word there.

I'm extending my sentence using because.

Because, and you can put whatever you want here, but I am going to put because of wolves.

You might even describe the wolves with adjectives, scary, enormous.

Because of, and wolves is one of my star words, full stop.

First, it was dangerous because of wolves.

That's the first disadvantage.

Then we're going to give this second disadvantage.

Can you tell your screen what the second disadvantage was? That's right.

It was a long way and she was tired.

Okay, so I'm going to use my key word from yesterday, which is second.

Second, it was a long way and she was tired.

Ooh, it's a long sentence.

Second, it was a long way and she was tired.

Okay, now I'm going to punctuate it.

Capital letter, second, it was at long way and she was tired, full stop.

You can have a go at writing that now, or you can write along with me.

Let's have a look at that being written.

Remember, I'm use my phonics for any words I'm not sure of the spelling of.

Second, which you've got in my writing from yesterday.

Long, I'm roboting the word.

Ul ah ng, long.

And it's that ng, it's a diagraph at the end.

There are two letters, one sound.

Way.

Wuh ay, way.

And, which is one of my high frequency words.

Second, it was a long way and she was tired.

She is one of my high frequency words.

Was, is one of my high frequency word.

And tired is my star word.

Full stop.

Oh, great work if you give those sentences a go so far.

Now we've got the final disadvantage The final reason she shouldn't.

Hm, what was the final reason? Can you tell the screen? Brilliant, it was that she might get lost.

Third, she might get lost.

Do you think you can all pause the video now and have a go at writing the third disadvantage using your phonics for any spellings that you're unsure of? Oh, great work if you managed to get that last disadvantage, that last sentence a go.

And don't worry if you didn't, 'cause mine is here, and you can always pause the video and copy it once I've read through it.

So let's read it all together, our disadvantages all together.

Third, she might get lost.

And you might have extended your sentence with because saying why she got lost.
