Hello, and welcome to lesson 10 of our explanation unit.

We have learned so much about explanations, Cedric, you're absolutely right.

In this lesson we're going to write the final part of our explanations.

We're going to start with a nursery rhyme, then we're going to play our why, because game.

And then we're going to write some more sentences explaining using because.

You will need a pencil and a piece of paper, your brilliant brain and of course you might want to bring along a teddy talk partner to help, just like Cedric helps me.

Pause the video now if you need to collect any of those things, and press play when you're ready.

It's time for our nursery rhyme.

And we have been recycling the nursery rhyme "I Can Sing A Rainbow," with our fantastic ideas of things that are amazing, things that might have amazed the king.

So today, Cedric, have you got your imagination switched on? Okay then, Cedric, what's your first idea of something amazing that we can sing about? A dancing cow.

I love that Cedric.

A dancing cow.

Have you got another idea? A laughing cat.

I don't think I've ever seen a cat laugh, have you? And then we want one more thing.

Not a talking throne this time, maybe a table that jumps up and down.

Let's put them into our nursery rhyme.

Have a listen first.

♪ A dancing cow and a laughing cat ♪ ♪ A table that jumps up and down ♪ ♪ It was so amazing ♪ ♪ so amazing ♪ ♪ Were you amazed too ♪ Can you join in this time? So a dancing cow and a laughing cat.

And a table that jumps up and down.

Let's have a go.

♪ A dancing cow and a laughing cat ♪ ♪ A table that jumps up and down ♪ ♪ It was so amazing ♪ ♪ So amazing ♪ ♪ Are you amazed too ♪ I wonder if you got any amazing ideas you could put into our nursery rhyme.

In this unit we have become because experts.

I think doctor explanation would be very proud of us.

We're going to play a game now using the question why, Cedric asks that all the time, and the answer because to explain.

Cedric is going to ask why and I'm going to answer using because.

So I love to dance.

Why do I love to dance? I love to dance because it makes me happy.

Why does it make me happy? Because I get to move my body around.

Maybe you could try playing the why and because game with your teddy talk partner.

We're going to use the word because again in our explaining sentences today.

But there are some other high frequency words we are also going to use.

Let's have a practise of them now.

The.

My turn, the.

Your turn.

The.

Was.

Was.

It.

It.

As well as our high frequency words, I've also chosen some star words I thought we might need in our writing today.

Had, now and of course the word amazed.

Now, with the rest of the words, have a go at using your phonics.

So we're going to say the word, robot the word, and then write the word.

Let's have a look at the final part of box plan.

So this is where the king is amazed.

Why do you think he might be amazed? The king was amazed because the crown ran back.

The king was amazed because it grew feet.

The king was amazed because it did a dance.

So many good ideas.

When we're writing our sentences, we're going to remember out capital letters, finger spaces, spelling using our phonics, full stops and we're going to make sure it makes sense.

I always think my sentence first.

So the king was amazed because, what did the crown do? It jumped up, it ran back.

I'm going to use that.

Capital letter.

The king was amazed because it ran back.

Full stop.

I think there's a few words there that we could robot.

I wonder if you could help me? Like ran.

Ran.

Rr aa nn, ran.

Fantastic.

And how about back.

B aa ck, back.

So I'll start with my capital T at the start of my sentence for the.

The, finger space, King.

You might not have learned the ng diagraph yet.

We've got ka ing, king.

Finger space, tricky word, was.

The king was, the king was amazed.

I'm not going to fit that word on that line so I'm going to write that star word on the next line.

The king was amazed.

Finger space.

Our special word for explaining, because.

The king was amazed because, finger space, I'm going to do it on the next line, because it, one of our high frequency words, finger space ran.

Let's robot ran, r aa n, ran.

Because it ran, finger space, let's robot back, b aa kuh.

We've got the diagraph with our curly kuh and our kicking kuh together making that kuh sound.

The king was amazed because it ran back, full stop.

Now I'm going to think about one more sentence about why the king was amazed.

I bet you've got lots of ideas.

I'm going to say the king was amazed because it had feet.

So capital letter, the king was amazed because it had feet, full stop.

Can you help me robot the word feet? Robot arms ready.

Fa ee ta.

Well done.

Remember that e sound is a diagraph, two letters making one sound.

fa ee ta.

So the king was amazed because it now had feet.

Capital T.

The, one of our high frequency words.

The.

The.

Finger space, king.

The king was, finger space, was one of our high frequency words.

The king was amazed.

I'm going to put that on the next line, one of our star words.

The king was amazed, finger space, because, our very special word for explaining, the king was amazed because it, I'm going to put that on the next line, one of our high frequency words, finger space, now, because it now, finger space, had, finger space, feet.

You helped me robot this word, fa ee.

diagraph two e's.

Ta.

Feet, full stop.

The king was amazed because it now had feet.

Now comes the really exciting bit, because you're going to write the final part of your explanation.

I wonder if you can explain two different ways why the king was amazed.

The king was amazed because,.

And another reason the king was amazed.

You've got some high frequency words and some star words.

Now don't forget with your other spellings to say the word, robot the word, and then write the word.

Try your best.

Give it a go, pause the video, and then press play when you're ready.

How did you get on? You have been such brilliant explainers through all of this unit.

We are so proud of you.

In fact, we're going to do a big super star cheer, your biggest.

Are you ready? Super star.

I'm also going to sing something at you, which Cedric will love because he thinks I'm a brilliant singer, don't you, Cedric? Yep, he thinks I'm the best.

Cedric.

I'm going to sing this at you.

♪ Don't stop explaining ♪ Because you've become such good explainers.

Keep explaining.

Don't forget to ask why as many times as you can, and see if you can answer that question sometimes with that brilliant explaining word, because.

We have loved working with you on this unit.

Cedric and I would absolutely love to see some of your explaining work.

If you'd like to share it, ask a parent or career to do that for you.

Keep working hard.

Keep learning.
