Hi everyone, it's Miss Doherty.

Today, we're going to write the middle of a recycled story.

I hope you're ready.

In this lesson you will need, an exercise book or paper and a pencil.

Pause the video now while you go and get those things together.

We're going to start the lesson in the way we always do, by singing.

Then we'll revisit our recycled story from lesson seven that we started write lesson eight and we'll finish today by writing the middle of that story.

Are you ready to sing the Goldilocks Song? Do you remember the actions from lesson eight? ♪ Goldilocks Goldilocks ♪ ♪ What shall I do today ♪ ♪ Maybe I'll swim, maybe I'll surf ♪ ♪ Maybe in the sand I'll play ♪ ♪ Goldilocks Goldilocks ♪ ♪ What shall I do today ♪ ♪ Maybe I'll swim ♪ ♪ Maybe I'll surf ♪ ♪ Maybe in the sand I'll play ♪ One more time.

♪ Goldilocks Goldilocks ♪ ♪ What shall I do today ♪ ♪ Maybe I'll swim.

♪ ♪ Maybe I'll surf ♪ ♪ Maybe in the sand I'll play ♪ In lesson seven, we came up with a recycled story.

The first thing we changed was our setting and we spoke lots about the beautiful beach that our new recycled story was going to be set on.

The element of Goldilocks and the Three Bears that we chose to keep and recycle into a new story was the character of Goldilocks.

And actually in the middle of the story, we also introduced Baby Bear as the helper, to help Goldilocks make the right choice.

In our story Goldilocks finds something on the beach, a shining shimmering star on the shore.

She takes it, even though it tries to escape from her and brings it back to her cave.

And when she wakes up the next morning she realises it's starting to lose it's shine.

It's become dim.

She takes it out into the sun and sits with it in the sun, hoping that its shine will return, but it doesn't.

And she sees someone approaching in the distance.

That's a little girl in a dress, oh no, it's baby bear! And baby bear says to her, "Did you ask the star if it wanted to come to your cave?" and Goldilocks realises that she hadn't.

So she opens her hands, she asks the star, if the star would like to go back to it's home and the star nods, one of his points.

And she realises, that even though she really wants the star, that's what she has to do.

She has to return it.

She has to put it back.

And so she puts it back and the star was so grateful.

And every day when she goes out, walking and singing her song, she sees the star sparkling and twinkling on the sand or in the sea and thanking her for putting it back.

Now, I'd love you to very quickly, recap the middle of the story.

So, I want you to think about when Baby Bear comes, what Baby Bear says and what Goldilocks then realises she has to do.

Pause the video now, while you say that part of the story.

Now, we're going to write the middle of the story together.

As you can see on the screen, I've begun to write the middle in my own words, but I've left some words out and I'm going to need your help with them.

Let's read together.

Goldilocks takes the star out into the, hm, where does she take the star to try and make it shine again? Into the, sun! When we're writing, we say the word, robot the word, write the word.

Can you say the word? Sun.

S-U-N, Sun.

Write the word.

Pause the video now while you write the word, sun.

Let's check our writing, S-U-N, sun.

Fantastic.

Goldilocks takes the star out into the sun, but it doesn't work.

The star still isn't, shiny.

The star still isn't shiny.

Let's write the word shiny.

Say the word, shiny.

Robot the word, SH-I-N-Y.

Shiny.

Let's write the word.

Pause the video now while you write the word, shiny.

I've written shiny.

The star still isn't shiny.

Now shiny's quite a tricky word to write because the I sound and the E sound at the end can both be written in lots of different ways.

So don't worry if when you wrote it, you spelt it differently to me.

You're still using your phonics to help you write.

Goldilocks takes the star out into the sun, but it doesn't work.

The star still isn't shiny.

She, sees! Sees, hm, say the word, sees.

Robot the word, S-E-E, sees.

Write the word.

Pause the video now while you write the word sees.

Let's check it.

S-EE-S, sees.

Fantastic.

She sees a bear walking across the, hm, sand! Across the sand, say the word, sand.

Robot the word, S-A-N-D.

Sand.

Let's write the word.

Pause the video while you write the word, sand.

Let's check that.

S-A-N-D.

Sand.

The bear asks her, what is wrong? And she tells her all about the star.

Say the word star.

Robot the word, S-T-AR.

Write the word, star.

Pause the video now while you write that word.

Let's check it.

S-T-AR, star.

They realise that she hadn't asked the star where it wanted to, be.

Where it wanted to be.

And we spell be, B-E, spells B.

Let's read that one more time.

Use your finger to follow as I read.

Goldilocks takes the star out into the sun, but it doesn't work.

The star still isn't shining.

She sees a bear walking across the sand.

The bear asks her what is wrong and she tells her all about the star.

They realise that she hadn't asked the star where it wanted to be.

You've written down some of the key words in that section of the story for the middle of the story.

But now I want you to write a word, sentence or paragraph to tell the middle of the story.

I've put the pictures of our boxed up version on the screen for you, which should help you to remember.

Remember when we're writing, we say the word.

Robot, the word.

Write the word.

Pause the video now while you write the middle of the story.

Thank you so much for writing the middle of the story with me.

I've really enjoyed it.

I'll see you next time and we'll write the ending.

Bye bye.
