Hello everyone.

It's Miss Doherty.

Today, we're going to write the opening to a recycled story.

In this lesson, you will need an exercise book or paper, and a pencil.

You can pause the video now while you go and get those items. We're going to start today's lesson by singing.

Then we'll revisit the recycled story that we wrote in lesson seven.

And finally, we'll write the opening.

Don't worry if you weren't in lesson seven.

I'll tell you the beginning of the story before we start our writing.

In our recycled story, Goldilocks sings a song, doesn't she.

Let's sing that together.

♪ Goldilocks, Goldilocks ♪ ♪ What shall I do today? ♪ ♪ Maybe I'll swim ♪ ♪ Maybe I'll surf ♪ ♪ Maybe in the sand I'll play ♪ Let's try that again.

♪ Goldilocks, Goldilocks ♪ ♪ What shall I do today? ♪ ♪ Maybe I'll swim ♪ ♪ Maybe I'll surf ♪ ♪ Maybe in the sand I'll play ♪ A problem is a really important part of a story.

All great stories have some sort of problem.

Now, in our story that we recycled yesterday, we've used the same character of Goldilocks, but we've come up with an entirely new story.

We've just recycled the character.

What is the problem in the story? Can you remember? The problem in the story is that Goldilocks finds the glistening, glittering star on the beach, and takes it, even though it doesn't belong to her.

She takes it back to her cave.

And when she wakes up the next morning, she realises that it's losing its shimmer, its light.

It's becoming dim.

And that's because it doesn't belong in her cave, but she doesn't realise that at first, and she feels very upset because she wants it.

And even if we're not supposed to have something, sometimes we still really want it, don't we? It's such a hard problem for her to solve that we need another character, Baby Bear, to come and help her.

And Baby Bear explains that sometimes we have to leave things where they belong and it's not ours to take.

And although Goldilocks is disappointed, she does listen and asks the star whether it wants to go back to the sea, and the star says yes.

So she puts the star back on the shore.

And from then on every day, as she goes for her walk, she sees the star glittering to her, as though it's saying "Thank you for putting me back home".

Now, I'm going to tell you the beginning of our recycled story.

So just that first box.

Once there was a little girl called Goldilocks, who lived in a cave on a beach with golden sand.

Every day, she walked along the shore, singing her song.

♪ Goldilocks, Goldilocks ♪ ♪ What shall I do today? ♪ ♪ Maybe I'll swim ♪ ♪ Maybe I'll surf ♪ ♪ Maybe in the sand I'll play ♪ One day, as she was walking, she noticed something shining in the sand.

She bent down to pick it up, but it started to move away from her, so she ran and ran, as fast as she could, until she caught up with the star and grabbed it with both hands.

She took it back to her cave, feeling so pleased with herself.

But the next morning, when she woke up, the star had become dim.

And that is the beginning to our story.

Now it's your turn to tell the beginning of the story.

Pause the video now, while you tell the beginning of our story, and resume once you're finished.
