Hello everyone.

Welcome back to your lesson with me Miss Sidenius.

What do you see in the clouds behind me? An aeroplane? You're right.

You can see an aeroplane because today we're going to be making a transport model of an aeroplane.

This is going to be a really exciting lesson.

First we're going to think about some different modes of transport, just like we did in Wednesday's lesson.

You can see if you can remember some of those modes of transport from Wednesday's lesson, then we're going to be making our own aeroplane.

And at the end, you can have a go at flying your aeroplane around your house.

You're just going to hold it in your hand to fly it.

In this lesson, you are going to need a bottle.

It needs to be a clean, dry, recycled bottle so that it hasn't got anything in it because we don't want it to go yucky and smelly.

We need some tape and you need three pieces of paper and some colouring pencils, or just some normal pencils or pens, or even paint something that you can decorate your aeroplane with.

Pause the video here.

Make sure you've got those things and come back when you're ready.

Can you remember what transport is? What is transport? Huh.

You have to think about it and tell your Teddy, if you think you know.

If you said that transport is the movement of people, or things from one place to another and you were right.

Well done.

What different modes of transport have you been on? You tell your Teddy.

I bet you've all been on lots of different modes of transport.

Let's look at the next slide and see if you said any of these.

So have you been on a boat before? Have you been on a bicycle before? Have you written on the train before? Have you gone on a ferry overseas? So when you drive your car into a very big boat and then that big boat takes you across the sea and you can get off at the other side is so clever.

Have you ever been on a tram? You don't see trams around very much anymore, but they're a bit like trains.

They're attached to some electric lines above them, help them to move.

Have you been on a motorbike before would be a little bit dangerous to go on a motorbike.

You need to be an adult before you go on a motorbike.

Now, have you ever been in a taxi? So those were some other modes of transport that I'm sure some of you have been on, but today we're going to be thinking about aeroplanes.

Even if you haven't been on an aeroplane before, they're really exciting because you can see them in the sky and you can hear them flying past.

There aren't very many of them flying at the moment.

So I thought it would be fun if we made our own aeroplane.

So the first thing you're going to need is a plastic bottle or a milk bottle, or even a carton that you can use to make the body of your aeroplane.

Just like in the picture we had before.

It's cool and main part.

What other features can you see if the aeroplane? Huh.

You can tell your Teddy some other features you can see.

Oh yes.

I can see it has some wings and under the wings, there are some engines and there's even some wheels at the bottom there.

I wonder how many of these features we can get on our Aero plane.

So, like I said, make sure you've got your plastic bottle, your empty carton.

Pause the video here while you get it and come back when you're ready.

So next I need you to get your carton, make sure it's all ready and a piece of paper.

And you're going to roll the paper around your bottle or your carton, make sure it's nice and tight.

And then you're going to put some tape along the edges so that it doesn't come on down.

You have one piece and two pieces of tape here.

There we go.

That's it.

You're going to roll the paper around and stick it down.

Make sure it stays put.

pause the video here and come back when you're finished.

Great.

And next part, we are going to make our wings.

So you need a new piece of paper.

You're going to fold it in half, run your fingers up and down the line a lot where it's folded in half.

And then you can rip along that line to make two smaller pieces.

You're going to use one of them.

Okay? So it's your turn now.

So you're going to fold the paper in half so that the edges meet and run your hand up and down the line where it's folded and then you can rip it very carefully.

So that you've got two bits of paper.

Pause the video here and come back when you're finished, the job team.

Now we're going to fold that piece of paper in half.

Again, being very careful to make sure the two ends of the paper meet and we're ripping it really slowly and carefully.

So now we've got two little bits to paper.

pause was the video here? Make two, even smaller bits of paper and come back when you're finished.

Good job everyone.

So now with one of those bits of paper, you're going to fold it.

So it meets the edge, like a triangle shape and then flip it over, hold up that flap that wasn't part of the triangle.

Can you see? So it's got a little flap at the bottom.

Then you're going to take down your triangle so it doesn't keep flapping open.

And this is going to be your wing so you can decorate it.

The triangle part is going to be your wing.

So I've popped put some nice kind of racing stripes on my aeroplane, but you might choose some different colours on your wings and another blue Stripe.

So it's a kind of triangle shape.

When can you create that with your paper? Pause the video here, press play when you're finished.

part was a little bit tricky.

Wasn't it.

Now we're going to lie our paper up so we can do the other wing as well.

We want to make sure we've folding it the right way.

So can you see that? They match now.

They're both going the same way.

The wings is a bit funny.

If one was going one way and the other wing was going the other way.

You can fold your other piece of paper and decorate that wing as well.

Remember to make sure that your wings are triangle shapes and they've got a rectangle on the side that you can stick to your plane.

Good job.

Pause the video here, make your other wing and come back when you're finished.

Right now you've got your two wings ready to stick onto your plane.

And you can put your plane in the middle.

It's a bit of tape.

And you're just going to stick those rectangle tabs onto the plane.

Just like that.

Here we go, now you've got two wings on your plane, just like the one behind me.

Pause the video here, stick your wings on and come back when you're finished.

Great.

So now I need you to take a little piece of paper that you've folded in half a long time ago at the beginning.

And you're going to fold that in half again, ripped down the middle really carefully.

So you've got two bits of paper.

Okay? So pause the video here.

Fold your little piece of paper in half again, rip down the middle really carefully.

Come back when you're finished.

Great job.

Now we're ready to make our engines, just like the ones behind me on the plane.

So you're going to roll up your little piece of paper to make a tube, stick it down today it doesn't come undone.

And then you could do the same with your other piece of paper.

They've got two little tubes.

And there you go.

Okay.

Pause the video here.

Make your two engines in those cylinder tube shapes and come back when you're finished.

So now it's ready to stick those engines on.

They go under the wings.

So I'm turning the plane upside down.

I'm going to stick them on underneath the wings there.

And then putting some tape on the on the other side as well, just in case because I don't want it to fall off.

I'm putting one on the other side too.

I've definitely got two wings.

sticking that down with a second bit of tape.

There we go.

Your pair over and you've got your wings and your engines, but still missing some things.

So stick your engines on what pause video here and press play when you're finished.

Right, now it's time to do our windows.

When you're on an aeroplane, you can look out the windows.

You can see the ground below the clouds all around you.

So we're going to draw lots of windows for our passengers.

Just like that.

So pause the video here.

Draw your windows on your aeroplane and come back when you're finished.

Great job everyone.

Now you're ready to do another wing to sit on the back of your plane.

It's a bit tricky to see, but there is one on the back of this aeroplane behind me as well.

So get your little piece of paper.

You're going to fold it really small.

You're going to fold the two edges.

So they meet in the middle.

All that in half, this part is a little bit complicated.

So you can see you've got two triangle shapes, which are the corners that are meeting in the middle of the paper.

And then you've got a rectangle at the bottom.

You're going to slit part of that rectangle.

Just stop to where the triangles meet.

Have a go at folding it like that yourself.

So fold the two corners, So the triangles meet in the middle of the paper and you're going to rip the bottom of the paper all the way up to the triangles.

And when you're ready, fold that paper in half and you've got a little wing like that.

You just need to take the top of it.

Then two bits of paper that flapping out on either side, you're going to use those to stick to the aeroplane.

That one was a little bit tricky.

So you might want to get some help from an adult for this part.

Pause the video here, make your last wing and come back when you're ready.

Welcome back, everyone.

We're now ready to stick our wing onto the plane.

So it's on the back and I'm just putting two bits of tape down on either side.

And now you have It.

cool a finished aeroplane.

Just like this one here.

Now it's a little bit funny because, because of my decorations, I think my aeroplane looks a little bit like a rocket, but it can be an aeroplane or a rocket.

It's up to you.

It can be whatever you like really.

And yours might look very different to mine.

And you can take it in your hand.

You can fly it around your house and you've got your very own aeroplane.

So cool.

So have a look at your aeroplane.

And can you tell me what the features are of your aeroplane? Huh.

Have a think about it and tell your bunny when you think, you know, Oh, I was just telling my bunny that my aeroplane has wings.

It's got two big wings and one little one at the back, and it's got two engines underneath the wings and it's got some windows so that the passengers can look out.

Did your aeroplane have the same features as mine, right? Where is your aeroplane going to fly to? where's the first place your aeroplane is going to go? Have to think about it and tell your bunny.

My aeroplane is going to fly off to magical unicorn land.

Then on the way back, it's going to go to Lego land.

Where is your aeroplane going to go to? Well done everyone.

I had so much fun making that aeroplane.

And I hope you did too.

In the meantime, you can share your work with somebody in your household, or I would love to see some pictures of your own aeroplanes that you could ask a parent or a carer to share them on Twitter with at Oak National and #LearnWithOak and #ONAReception.

Hi, everyone.

Enjoy playing with your aeroplanes.
