Hi, everyone.

I'm Ms. Boyd, and I'm your music teacher.

Today, we're going to learn about pitch.

What is pitch? In today's lesson, we will learn and practise how to hear high pitch sounds, middle pitch sounds and low pitch sounds, and you'll definitely be able to describe for me what pitch is.

In this lesson, you'll need three things your singing voice, your bodies and your thinking brain.

But before we get started, should we sing a song to say hello? ♪ Off we go.

♪ Okay, so what is pitch? Pitch is how high or how low a note is in a piece of music.

So, if you hear a piece of music, and you think, oh, that's really high.

The pitch is really high, you're right.

Or if you hear a piece of music and you think, Ooh, that's really low, it's because the pitch of the notes and the instruments are low.

For our first learning activity today we're going to play, what can you hear? I'm going to play some notes on my instrument, and I'd like you to listen up for high pitches and low pitches.

Have a listen to this.

Was that a high pitch or low pitch? That's right.

Pretty high pitched, isn't it? How about this one? That's really low, isn't it? So, it's a low pitch sound.

For this activity, I would like you to give me a thumbs up if you think you can hear a high pitch sound, or if you can hear a low pitch sound, give me a thumbs down.

Got it? Thumbs up for a high pitch sound, thumbs down for a low pitch sound.

Listening ears on.

Great, let's go.

Okay, on to our second learning activity.

We're going to play Do Re Mi.
