Hello.
My name is Miss Nadia, and I'm so excited to be teaching you your art lesson today.
I'm really looking forward to the creative journey that we're about to go on together.
The title of our art lesson today is "Creative Careers: Content Creator." Your learning objective today is to be able to create content to promote your music festival.
Your keywords today are "content creator." This is someone who makes and shares media to inform, entertain, or inspire an audience, often online.
Your second keyword is "promote." This is to share information about something in a way that encourages people to notice it, support it, or take part in it.
Our third keyword today is social media, a type of online platform that allows people to create, share, and communicate.
In our lesson today, we will begin with: What is a content creator? What do you think a content creator does? A content creator is someone who makes things like videos, pictures, stories, or music to share with others.
Often their content is shared on the internet.
Content creators use their platform to share a creative idea or a lifestyle.
Sometimes the role of a content creator is to promote an event.
Promoting an event means sharing information in a way that encourages people to attend or to take part.
The aim of promotion is to make people aware of the event and to show them why it will be interesting, enjoyable, or important.
It's a chance to use communication and creativity to bring people together for something enjoyable and memorable.
Content creators might use lots of different ways to promote an event, including videos, written adverts, such as leaflets or flyers, spoken messages, such as radio or podcast, social media posts.
When promoting an event, content creators need to answer several questions for their audience.
These might include: What is the event? When and where is it happening? Who is it for? Why should people come? Making all this information really clear makes the content feel more focused, and therefore it will be more successful.
Can you answer the following question? It's a true or false question: A content creator must always promote an event through posters and videos to be successful.
That is false.
Do you know why? Whilst posters and videos are useful, an event can also be successfully promoted through spoken messages, such as videos, social media, or written adverts.
The key is to share clear and engaging information, not just the format that is used.
Some influential content creators might include: Thicknoodles, Crash Course Kids, Ava and Alexis McClure, Mylemarks.
Have you ever seen an advert that makes something look really good, but it wasn't what you expected? When promoting an event or product, it is important to be honest and transparent about what the event or product is really like.
This means giving clear and truthful information so that people know what to expect.
For example, it would not be fair to say something is free if people have to pay, or show something that is not actually part of the event.
Which of the following is something a content creator might make? Is it A, a video of a local event? B, a review of a product on a podcast? Or C, a list of classroom rules? Have a really good think and see if you can find the correct answer or answers.
It's actually A and B.
Did you get that right? You are going to begin with task A.
You are gonna explore how the work of your chosen content creator is used to promote an event or a product.
You might think about: What are they trying to promote? Who are they talking to? What techniques do they use to get your attention? Do they make the event seem fun, useful, or exciting? How? Good luck with this task.
Come back and join me once you've completed it.
You might have thought about what the content creator was trying to promote.
Izzy has said, "I think my content creator was trying to promote a gaming toy." You might have thought about who the content creator was talking to.
Izzy says, "The game seemed to be aimed at young kids, as they also talked about some things that would appeal to parents who would be buying it." You might have thought about what techniques the content creator used to get your attention.
Aisha has said, "The content creator seemed really excited in the videos and also used bright graphics." You may have also thought about how the content creator made the event or product seem fun, useful, or exciting.
Aisha says, "The photos they used made the event look really fun, with lots of people smiling.
The overall feel was happy and buzzing." Content creators sometimes use social media to promote a product or an event.
Social media is a type of online platform or website that allows people to communicate, share information, and connect with others.
People use social media to post messages, photos, videos, and ideas.
It can be used to stay in touch with friends and family, to learn new things, or to share creative content with a wider audience.
While social media can be fun and useful, it is important to use it safely and respectfully.
Users should always think carefully about what they share online and be kind in the way that they interact with other people.
Some social media platforms also have age restrictions on them to ensure that users are of an appropriate age to use them.
Izzy says, "When my school posts images on social media, they make sure we have permission to be in the photographs." Social media can be a powerful tool for promoting a festival because it allows information to be shared quickly and widely.
So the content creator can reach a lot of people just at the click of a computer button, which can be very useful when promoting an event.
Content creators might share a video or images of last year's activities, post a countdown to the event, or show behind-the-scenes preparations.
This helps people get excited, and they want to attend.
Social media can also be used to give important details, such as the dates, time, location, and ticket information.
It allows organisers to answer questions from the public and to remind people as the event gets closer.
As well as posting promotional materials, social media can be used as a discussion point with conversations and key information going back and forth.
Now I've got a question for you.
Why can social media be a powerful tool for promoting a festival? Is it A, it replaces the need for organising the festival? Is it B, it allows information to be shared widely and quickly? Or is it C, it helps people create long essays about the event? It is B.
Organisers can post updates, share exciting videos or photos, and spread the word so more people hear about the festival and want to come.
Content creators might start by considering what type of content they want to create.
Izzy says, "I'm going to create a social media post over several images." Izzy also says, "My event is for young people and families, so I think they would be more likely to use social media than to see paper flyers." Content creators then think about the key information they want to share in their first image.
Izzy says, "I'm going to try and show the whole festival stage in my first image with a larger title to grab people's attention.
I can use the same colour palette as my logo design." I really like Izzy's idea of making a poster that fits in with the design.
It just makes everything so much clearer.
It's important to think about who the target audience is and how that might impact on the content design.
Izzy says, "My design needs to be energetic and colourful to reflect my younger audience." You could also describe the different activities on offer to promote the event.
Izzy says, "I have used images of face paint and food to show the kind of activities available." Doesn't this make the poster look fun and engaging? Remember, it is important to be honest and transparent about the events you are promoting.
Izzy says, "My festival is free to attend, but people will still have to pay for food and activities.
I will make that clear on my social media post." You could also include key dates and information in your social media post.
Using a countdown can bring a sense of anticipation to your event.
Izzy says, "I have created an additional post using the same graphics with large writing showing how many days are left until the festival." Which feature will you choose to use in your social media post and why? A, B, or C? You may have chosen A, which highlights honesty and transparency, or B, which has images of what's on offer, or C, which is a countdown.
You might make a video to promote your festival, design a promotional post for social media, create leaflets, drawings, or flyers to explain what your festival is all about.
I'm really excited about what you are going to achieve on this task.
Come back once you've completed it.
I hope you have fun creating your promotional content.
How did you get on with the task? I hope you had lots of fun completing it.
You might have used the same colour palette as your logo, been honest about the event that you are promoting, described the different activities on offer through a video or through photography, used the countdown to bring a sense of anticipation to your event.
Izzy says, "I really like the strong colours I have used in my designs for a series of social media posts.
They promote my festival to my audience well.
Next time, I might think about using more posts to count down, or perhaps offering prizes for liking and sharing my posts." I wonder how you got on with this task.
What did you focus on when designing your content? How did you go about promoting your festival, and how do you know if it's going to be successful or not? Was it a single content design, or did you create a whole series of designs like Izzy? Did you consider one of these things that Izzy thought of, or did you consider more things? What do you like best about your design? And if you were to do this task again another time, what would you do differently? Let's summarise what we've learned today.
A content creator is a person who makes and shares media to inform, entertain, or inspire an audience, and this is often done online.
When you promote an event, it's really important to be honest and transparent about what the event is really like.
Social media is an important tool for promoting a festival because it allows information to be shared quickly and widely.
I really hope you've enjoyed our lesson today.
I have, and I can't wait to see you again soon.
Thank you, and goodbye.
