Using and spelling suffixes: -ful

In this unit, pupils learn the spelling and grammar conventions used with common suffixes.  In 'Writing -ed and -ing suffixes', pupils broaden and apply their knowledge of spelling and grammar conventions used with the suffixes: -ed, -ing, -s and -es.

In ‘Alternative GPCS for consonants and homophones’, pupils learnt GPCs for for consonants with a focus on application in spelling. In this unit, pupils learn the spelling and grammar conventions used with common suffixes.

If the root word has more than one syllable and ends in a consonant plus 'y', then the ‘y’ is replaced by ‘i’ before the suffix '-ly'.  Select the root words that end in a consonant plus 'y'.
