In this unit, pupils considered how far the expansion of the British Empire led to changing attitudes towards migrants and greater economic contributions from migrants. In ‘Migration: how far have migrants been welcomed in modern Britain?’, pupils will study how far attitudes towards migrants continued to shift as race played an increasingly significant role in the experiences of migrants.

In ‘Migration: how far was England changed by early modern migration?’ pupils studied how far drastic changes in the early modern world led to changes in the reasons for migration and the experiences of migrants. In this unit pupils will study how far the Industrial Revolution and expansion of the British Empire brought about further changes.
